In this episode of Vault Empowers Talks, host Brandi Harvey, and special guest Charles Blow, delve into the rich tapestry of history, culture, and resilience that defines Southern Black communities, igniting a powerful conversation on how this legacy is shaping and raising Black power today.
Charles is a NY Times Bestselling author, columnist and commentator whose HBO documentary film, "South to Black Power" launched on December 5, 2023. The film tests the provocative proposition of Blow's bestselling book, "The Devil You Know," which calls for a reverse "great migration" of African Americans from the North back to the South to reclaim the land, political representation, and culture they left behind, and in doing so, transform the power structure in America.

They focused a lot on Georgia and I get that Atlanta is the hot spot now for black folks but I actually think Maryland will be the first state to make the policies he is advocating for and be a safe haven for Black people to thrive

No it won’t. Maryland is ran by government workers so they’ll put their best interest first.

Detroit was majority black…how’d that work out…??? Jackson Mississippi is majority black…how’s that working out…???
The problem with that logic is black people are not a monolithic group. We all aren’t Marxist and communist (black liberals) and believe we have to fight against the patriarchy.
But, the reason why states in the South, such as Texas, is better…is because it’s a Right To Work state and has less government regulations. Which creates a lower cost of living.

@@slickrick8046 I’m not saying I agree with Malcolm just saying that’s what he said. I do believe there are benefits of having your race represented in a wide range of industries.

“BLACK” has nothing to do with race, culture, ethnicity, and or nationality…it’s a caste system identifier. Just look at Nigeria…all of those people aren’t the same.
Also, representation has nothing to do with nothing. If that was the case there would be no poor white people.

So blacks should go where we can create political majorities but he's not advocating for a black ethno state or for black to be at the top of a power hierarchy?! What's the point? Whites are moving to Idaho, Wyoming and Montana with the intent of creating a white ethno state why doesn't Mr Blow have the courage to say the same thing?
