Great contract for both Jaylen Waddle and the Dolphins. His 5 year average with the extension puts him at $21M/year, which is a steal in the ever growing WR market, and salary cap. Adding Wright in the draft was crucial. Considering both Mostert and Achane were playing through injuries at the end off the season. Teams HAVE to be able to run the ball and play defense late in the season. His addition will help aid that

How can you eventually pay Tua, have two top five receiver contracts and have to address some big names on defense? The Chubb contract is a killer. Miami might have to do what Buffalo did with Diggs, and let Hill leave in a year or two.

Please Note: you are correct Rich, but yet same story to repeat…last season Miami built the fastest team/offense fact….another fact, speed speed speed each week over 17 games, equals injuries, slower when it counts. Hence failure in last couple games, out of the first place/first seed…and out in playoffs.

Completely disagree about this cold weather narrative. Injuries have been the issue, not the weather. When you're forced to play your 3rd string QB in a snowstorm or field a team with 3 starters out in the secondary, zero edge rushers and barely half a starting O line you have no shot no matter the team or weather. Saying it's the cold when a team has those injuries against them is doing them, and the viewer a massive disservice and is quite frankly just lazy reporting.

Dolphins are not a tough team, they are a finesse team in offense and will never win a Super Bowl with tiny speed players and no Dawgs in the oline and dline. The problem with paying for all that speed is you got little else going for you.Tyreek was shut down in the warm weather by KC too. The only time all that speed meant a win or big numbers was against lackluster bottom tier teams. Any quality teams, Bills, Ravens, Eagles, Chiefs, and the fins get hooked and cooked. KC has now won more titles without Tyreek than they did with him. KC had speed but it wasn’t effective, and they won on being the best in the mid field, running the ball, and a historically good defense. A defense they built, btw, because of trading away speed to Miami.

    • @Gray_Bush

Speed isn't the issue. Tyreek, Waddle, Mostert, and Achane all battled through injuries the second half of the season. Furthermore, the OL was decimated by injury. Lastly, top defenses only had to focus on the top 2 receiving options, which is much easier to defend against when you have the coaching and personnel to do so. They were missing their 2 most important offensive linemen for the majority of the game, plus their best edge rusher, best cornerback, and starting safety.
That game was a preview of what the team looked like at the end of the year: anemic when unable to block long enough for deeper passing plays or any kind of interior running plays to be effective, and weaker on defense due to missing talent at both edge rush and defensive back

McD's overall coaching DNA seems to favor speed among other athletic traits without sacrificing the fundamentals such as blocking.
I hope this will spur the signing of Tua and Holland. Love or hate Tua, he fits into McD's scheme. Better to sign him now before he gets even more expensive. You can even claim that Tua hasn't done anything but that also goes for Herbert, Burrows, and Lawrence. You need all that on a TEAM sport. Allen is in the same spot now that Bills lost their WRs and DBs.
