love them or hate them (i love them) they never half ass it, they always poor their heart and soul into their music. and, imo they are with out doubt the greatest Band of be all time
The very first song they composed was "Hit the Lights" and it was about being a musician, about the metal community, the fans, the "show". Hetfield says that the concept of this new album is a consideration of their formative years (72 seasons = 18 years of 4 people of the band, 18x4=72) so this song is specifically looking back at their very beginnings. They hit the lights, and that light is now here to stay forever, a Light Eternal, kind of thing. The main riff is very reminiscent of the style of their first album generally and Hit the Lights in particular-which was heavily influenced by Diamond Head, whose first album Lightning to Nations is also referenced directly here in the lyrics.
and if my ears are correct, I think this song's main riff is in key of A which is the same key as the main riff in "Hit the Lights" Pretty neat detail!! I think this album will be a special one. Great observations
Watched this for the first time on this very reaction vid. Metallica.. they still got it, and I cannot WAIT for the new album April 23 - Awesome stuff! Great reaction as always!
When Hardwired came out in 2016. MetallicA released a video to every song up until the release. I figure they are going to do the same thing with '72 seasons'. I think this album is going to be a special one. This song sounds better than the opening track on Hardwired to self destruct, production wise. And James Hetfield sounds great on this song. Yeah I may be biased when it comes to the band I love. But when this album is released in April '23, I guarantee it will debut @ #1. MetallicA just knows how to get their fans excited, plus they have done alot of stuff since Hardwired. Such as S&M2, The Black Album box set, The Blacklist, Did the collab of Master of Puppets with Stranger Things, and told their fans back over 2 years ago that they had been writing music during the pandemic. Plus MetallicA fans just know when their band has something good for em'. And if you don't like it? Then go listen to something else. They don't give a crap, and neither do I lol. Loved the reaction What It Do Dave! 🤘Thanks!!
I love this content, Dave. Been watching your stuff for a while. I had no idea Metallica had a new song out till I saw your video on my feed. I got chills watching this. Keep doing you Dave! Thanks for the great videos man!
Try some more music from the hardwired album that came out in 2016. To me it’s the best thing since master of puppets. But if this song is any indication of how the next album will be we are all in for a sweet ride. Can’t wait until april 14th release.
I heard a little Priest rapid fire in there and hit the lights riff. From kill ‘em all. Those three notes before chorus. Ba ba ba. Heard worse from them. I didn’t hate it. At least there was an attempted guitar solo. More then all of load and reload combined
Don't get me wrong, I love Metallica, and I really enjoyed this song, but this solo was far from Kirk's best work. It was an extremely lazy and uninspired solo, especially with all of the whammy bar use. I liked all of the 2 licks he played without a whammy bar, but the whammy bar parts sound like a poorly improvised solo a 14 year old played over Metallica.
6 years with no music. And in 3 minutes they show us why they are still number 1. Long live Metallica! 🤘🏻
Hell yeah, bro
FUK YEAHHH🎸🤘

Hold on tight, the Metallica freight train is comin' your way!
From what I’m understanding this song is about one of their concerts and the unity of the people there and how amazing it is.

Great reaction as usual just sucks I'm not really liking this at all with the exception of kirk's solo

Sounded like a garbage Kerry King solo.
