- Apple Watch Series 3 not activating? Stuck at the 'updating software screen' in the Watch App? I picked up a series 3 LTE for my wife this week and couldn't get it to activate. In today's video I show you how I found a temporary work around to get the watch activated. #applewatchnotactivating #applewatchseries3fix #techblokes
So guys, you'll need an older device running iOS 11 with the older Watch app to get your device to activate. The issue is, after it's activated and linked to your account, on iOS 12/13 it still doesn't give you the option to actually update your Apple Watch. This appears to be an iOS error, not a carrier problem.

Have fixed my Apple Watch Series 3. I had to change the region to Afghanistan then I did the reset 3 time then I paired it with my iPhone 6s Plus while connected to wi-fi , the update started again I reset the Watch the I tried to pair it with my iPhone SE 2nd iOS 16.4.1 although it took me 3hours to complete but it’s now working normally 🙏
What iso version was is your iPhone 6 Plus running when you paired it ?

Yes both must be on and charging .. also connected to the same WiFi

I dealt with this literally for hours but plugging both my Apple Watch and iPhone in to a power source immediately fixed the issue!!

I've fixed several watches with this problem. You need two phones. Phone 1 - forget all wifi networks. Connect to cell service. Turn on wifi hotspot. On phone 2 - forget all wifi networks. Do not connect to cell service (I used a phone with no service). Connect phone 2 to wifi hotspot from phone 1. Pair your apple watch to phone 2 and choose to update during pairing process and it will update properly. Once the update completes, it will still not be paired, but it will have the latest OS and you can pair it normally without two phones. I would make a video, but I don't have a watch with this problem at the moment. BTW... This works with older watches as well.

I had the same problem yesterday and it worked after I updated my phone to iOS 15. The update on thewatch takes FOREEEEEVER but it works perfectly now

Just gotta hustle more had a series 3 and updated my iPhone and that’s when it went to hell, I’d say if you update to ios14 make sure you update your watch first before the phone!

After numerous attempts, I changed the language again to Portugese then Afghanistan as Country. I was able to update the apple watch. I had another stumbling block when the watch was stuck in signing in to icloud account for hours. I just chose skip and continue when the iphone was asking for me to update the watch again then restore from back up or set up as a new watch. I hope this helps.

It happened to me and i tried everything , but finally i found the solution and its simple you should connect both iphone and iwatch with Charger and reach above 50% and then try to update

I just figured out how to update my watch after this video I borrowed an iPhone 6 with an update 12.2 when I login my Apple ID it requested I have to update it after the update it was 12.4 I tried again it didn’t work and requested update then I used my iPhone XS with 16.0 and it worked but it took 6-8 hr

got this same issue with apple watch series 5 + iphone 13 mini. The workaround for me was: connect iphone 13 mini to 2.4Ghz wifi. avoid cellular 3G/4G/5G and wifi 5Ghz.

I have been in the same situation and contacted apple support, they ask me to bring it to an apple service centre. The result was negative, the apple service confirmed that it has a hardware failure so you have to buy a new one. Ridiculous though...

ok so after so many trial and errors and literally tried everything what work for me and my iphone 12 pro max and apple watch series three was keeping it on the charger and turn off mobile data and leave wifi own an try the setup

@@Lukekellytech yes. Definitely is crazy. I just bought the watch. And I started messing with since 5 pm. And watch your video. And since I didn't have an older iphone. I nearly gave up and out curiosity i turn of data. And left wifi on. And ran the setup the error message show u disappeared and it started update now waiting for this 2 hour update to finish.

Well you can set it up as a new watch on IOS13, under the "Update Now" option there's a "Skip the update and continue" option. However after you choose your wrist, it just stays in the "Connecting your Apple Watch. This may take a moment" message. I have left the watch overnight thinking that just needed some time to connect. Unfortunately didn't work :(

I didn't know that option was available! I'll try it tonight on my series 3 and see what happens. I even downloaded the newest iOS 13 beta to see if that might work.. still no good. Very frustrating! Thanks for the comment Gabriel. 🙏

Check a few of the other comments. Some people are having success using a VPN, changing their location, and using alternative wifi networks. Hopefully one of those will work for you!

@@Lukekellytech I don’t have a second phone to use, but I tried resetting network settings, I tried to do the pairing manually, I tried on WiFi, cellular data, yet it still says I’m not connected to the internet. I’m stuck in the activation phase so can’t even try pushing the update from the watch itself
Hmm.. not sure sorry man. This method is really out of date now. Have you tried using a VPN? I’ve seen others having success with that method.

Mine I sync the watch to the phone with the 6 didgit passcode. I type it in the watch goes to like a load screen and then nothing. The phone then loses connection and unpairs
It just will not download the watch software.

Like I say the watch just goes to the apple logo with spiral around it and does nothing. The phone then says search for the watch but doesn’t pick it up after the code has been done.

Try changing your watch location, from your current location to something like the US/Canada/Australia during the initial setup. Failing that, try using a new wifi network. Failing that, others have reported success using a VPN. Let us know how you go

@@Lukekellytech yeah. Turned out to be a software error with my phone. No restore etc would fix it. Watch connects fine to other iOS devices. Apple care have no advice to fix etc so I just got a new phone. Watch is now currently working on my new phone 😍 but as for the software issue I had I’m still stumped 🤔

Though one about 2 days ago it finally went through, i spent 2 hours waiting for the update to finish, and when it did, the screen just went right back to the “Install” page telling me to install the same update. Beyond confused with this thing, I’ll give the VPN a try!

Apple is amazing company really. They sold me their little watch for hundreds of moneys and it doesnt even work.
I had it working the first time when I got it for Christmas, but I could never update it because of the error. I wasnt using the watch at all for like 2-3 years and then today I decided to start the whole process again because I was tired of update notification popping up on my iphone screen while I was taking the freakin photos. So I deinstalled everything and now this freakin Watch wont even work.

Forget what this dude says.. put your watch on the charger and then chose the update.. I had this problem when I first got the watch way back in 2019.. I stopped using it a few months ago, and today decided to start using it again.. I was having trouble updating it, unpaired it ,paired it, couldn’t get it to do anything, got the infamous not connected to internet, and watching this video I remembered from when I first got the watch it did the same thing and apple said to connect it to the charger and leave it there while it updates.. it is fixed after 2 hours of trying every solution.. actually the update page at the very bottom also says to connect it to charger

Issue: unable to pair Apple Watch Series 3 GPS to iPhone X - software update needed (error cannot connect to internet)
***Resolution:
1. Take a full backup of iPhone using iTunes
2. Factory reset iPhone
3. Setup iPhone as new device
4. Factory reset Apple Watch
5. Pair devices
6. Download Apple Watch update (this took at least 60 minutes using wifi network dl speed of 250mbps - be patient)
7. Install update
8. Restore iPhone using backup from iTunes
9. If this process fails, take a hammer to both devices : )
Attempts to resolve: Factory reset Apple Watch, reboot both devices several times while fully charged and plugged in, reset network settings, etc. All attempts failed.

Connect manually it will work and it ask you 6 digit code enter then start update. Its worked. Ignore this stupid video. Just connect manually and then start update
