World of Goo is a physics-based puzzle game for the Wii. You create structures out of goo and usher around goo balls with them. The gameplay can be pretty interesting, with quite a few different kinds of goo to play with and some interesting puzzle physics to go with it.
First time author STBM ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/STBM ) uses careful planning and some interesting glitches to complete levels in the blink of an eye. See the author's notes for a full explanation of the various methods used. - Игры
Its weird to see my childhood game of learning to take my time and be precise be completed so incredibly speedily.
I know right?
First time?
I want to see an animation simulating what the Wii remote would look like, and how it moves
Just imagine human arms moving hyperspeed and you have the animation
"Hey, google, whats a seizure?"

To anyone wondering how the glitch at 14:27 is possible:
Balls with a dampeningfactor (e.g. balloons) have a special bug with certain non-static objects.
If you manage to place the balloon inside of the object (in the same "thwacking" fashion as noclipping) it will fly up in the opposite direction. In this intance, the TAS hit at it diagonally, causing it to fly up on its side. This does not usually happen as diagonal hits are very difficult to do by a real player. I've only got that particular result twice.
This glitch can also be achieved using the Fish at the final level, the record for that is a time of 0 seconds. The TAS was made before this second glitch was discovered, and is not present in the run (at 31:40).
Tl'dr bouncy in wall means bug
@@PROPLAYEN oh, hey, Charles
This is one of the most entertaining speedruns I've ever seen. The cursor dancing is great.
:DD
2:10 ok its goi-
2:12 *HOW?!?*
This game has some weird physics when things are quick enough.
Walking into this, I knew a world of goo speedrun would be insane due to the speed at which stuff can be placed, I just didn't prepare for how insane it would be
9:36: "it's not a bug, it's a feature"
Green goo, If it tries hard enough, has the ability to fly by throwing themselves into each other
@@Fail-harold I noticed and realized I'm dumb
Sorry
Its ok
@@7hestraywolf505 funny comment tho
I'd like to see a 100% run, with every OCD flag too :O
That would be awesome
(Sees first level complete)
...
O:
EXACTLY
20:41 Me watching the TAS
Spyro Oshisaure 18:24 works, too.
Head Blown
:0 Hi Oshisaure, Keep on T-Spining!
Of all people, I didn't expect to see you in this comment section.
26:28 me and my clones watching the TAS
I still cannot believe impale sticky is cleared in just 5 second and 6 six turn
even for a bot that is crazy
The pointer movements between levels is like
Art.
I wonder if some of the many rerecords for Wii TASes are just to make the cursor dancing perfect.
25:01 screw that tower of blocks!
DAndross i do it everytime
I love how it follows the pipe and the level pathways when theres cutscenes
Edit: also the goo level in the goo tank and how it makes circles all the time
16:13 EXCUSE ME WHAT?!
Basically, the game is emulated to run on a computer. Using tools in the emulator, the game is carefully played frame-by-frame, allowing incredibly precise movements - or in the case of the Wii, where the cursor's "pointing" location can be anywhere at any given frame - incredibly fast movements, far beyond human capability in speed and accuracy. These movements are recorded by the emulator, then can be replayed by the system in real-time.
Ok time to beat World of Goo,
*grabs 500 monster cans*
WTF lol... this whole thing is nuts
See above: Walls in a game are only as solid as the code tells them they are. Sometimes, there are gaps, other times, there are means by which you can make the wall ignore your hitbox, and fly right through it. No matter how well the game is coded, most games have some kind of glitches that can be exploited.
24:27 I LOVE THAT SONG, NO, PLEASE, NOT SO FAST!!! NOOOOOO!!!
My favorite is red carpet, sad it was only used once D;
О, тут русские есть!
2016 and is still necessary to explain what is "TAS"...
What is TAS?
Tool assisted speedrun.
2020 too lol
Fuck I'm old
I'd love to see a run using glitches to obtain literally every goo ball possible, glitches included, then speed building the tallest tower possible as well
14:28 Could anyone explain **exactly what** is going on here
Balls with a dampeningfactor (e.g. balloons) have a special bug with certain non-static objects.
If you manage to place the balloon inside of the object (in the same "thwacking" fashion as noclipping) it will fly up in the opposite direction. I've only got that particular result twice.
This glitch can also be achieved using the Fish at the final level, the record for that is a time of 0:00.
oh my GOD...world of goo was dramatic and beautiful, i truely want to cry in both happiness and sadness at the game. now this...this makes the whole game the perfect movie: happy, sad, funny (flying goo across the screen glitch XD) and...THIS IS JUST PERFECT
HOW
WHAT
HOW
don't forget how
Aaron magic
Frame advance (look it up)
They used an emulator and played the game really slowed down and rewinded every time they fucked up, then played back at full speed.
level begins
*blink*
pipe is reached
VERY fast gooball moving at incredible hihg speed
I already want to wait for the TAS of World Of Goo 2
25:11 4 year old me after stacking every small object in the house
Let's play the game of "Predict how the TAS bot is going to beat the level!"
I was unironically playing that "game" before even reading this comment
I'm pretty bad at it, because I just automatically guess the proper way
Im calling traveling through the third dimension:
Literally every level
2:58 I literally tried skipping 5 seconds to skip the loading scene but he already finished the level.
28:57 Transcription:
*the ground shakes... New mail! World of Goo Corporation is destroyed*
29:27 With flames.
There are many goos that you can't take, so the only ways to go fast with them are either to push them with other goos (if they are in mid-air), or to use the whistle.
Wow, I blinked and I literally missed you complete the first level.
He literally just *YEETS* the gooballs
I know that kai-lan the RUclipsr or gamer love it too She love playing world of goo And she learn how to speak japanese or Chinese Are RUclips videos
17:50 i cant believe im not the only one that glitched out the gooballs like that
Same
7:19
The wheel really just went asta la vista!
One level in and my headphones FELL OFF to the sheer SPEED of the TAS
The level “super fuse challenge time” just lost its meaning after this robot.
This is so satisfying to watch
This is the greatest TAS of all time
love when you cant even figure out the game mechanics while watching a TAS
6:00, it took me 15 minutes to get there
Chuck Norris's first attempt of playing world of goo
thank you
Awesome TAS for and awesome game. Thanks
I want to see the TAS do the custom level called Crazy Flying
It's actually impossible unless you are very, very skilled
But i think the wii doesn't have custom levels
@@bopers2121 no, it doesnt have custom levels.
i know that question was aked 5 years ago
This game has really creepy music for a game with a simplistic idea
this is such a throwback to my childhood! great job tas team :)
its so crazy how fast the bot can build like that
Great run! Can't wait for max goo run!
11:26 I never actually understood the normal way to beat that level, and I’m not very good at pushing stuff aggressively so I might have a lot of trouble with this version
You use the balloons to lift a part of the goo rope that is behind the beauty goo. This will push it.
@@breadhead9407 oh ok, thanks. I still beat it a little while after I wrote this comment before my mom got rid of our wii, but I still appreciate the help anyway.

12:28 The Final Level of *Little Miss World of Goo*
20:57
This says 'WTF?' in the Linux version of this game, and not 'what is it?'.
XD
I forgot about that
Lmao
14:29 this looks like some WWE move.

*The last of the Goo Balls discovered... ...the giant lady thing was a living electric generator. And that BEAUTY was a highly reactive liquid chemical. Like gasoline. Or turpentine. For years, her Beauty juice powered the entire world! But as the world grew older, so did she. And when her Beauty dried up, so did her electrical output. Until tonight...! With fabulous new cosmetic surgery options, and raw BEAUTY PRODUCT injected DIRECTLY INTO HER FOREHEAD, the signs of age melted away! ...even though she couldn't move her face because of her chemicals, the BEAUTY GENERATOR WAS BACK! A truly sustainable energy solution! All around the world, lights glowed brighter! Power meters spun faster! Electrical lines surged with youthful energy! ...a factory opens in the south...*
1:30 Or is that the cursor?
It's called a TAS (Tool-Assisted-Speedrun). Note the "Tool Assisted" in there.
Ahhh, this makes me dream of the sort of devices needed to console-verify this run. That spiffy mirror thingy used to make laser drawings should do it.
Just imagine what it would look like to see the person playing this if it were recorded in real time
For those who don't know how they do this, this is a system called [TAS] bot which is programmed manually to complete games in the fastest (or any kind of) way. This isn't cheating because it is its own category of speed runs, this dosen't go towards world records or anything.
Well, it dose have its own record system but that is with other bots and not humans so it's fair.
I'm 2 years later, but there isn't any programming at all on this speedruns. A person just records the inputs and uses savestates to complete a run in the fastest way the runner knows. There's no bots involved.
holy shit the cursors movements are soo beast
Thanks for all the comments :D
Gotta love those trickshots. 😊
2D BOY: Yeah, we'll make another World of Goo.. when goo flies!
Me: 2:09
2D BOY: ...
This aged well
guess what bitches!
Hello machine, great work!
i love how the tecnique used here is mainly just "yeet the gooballs"
O'BOY, I LOVE SPEEDRUNS
Blustery Day... I think I'm going to cry.
God this guy loves his thwacking.
14:28 - 16:44 HOW!?
When is the "100%" (All OCD) TAS for? That's be great :D
The whistle make the goos move faster (around 2.5 times the normal speed), and the manipulation of the pattern hasn't been found yet. The cursor is definitely the holder of the RNG responsible of those pattern, but manipulating this RNG is another thing, especially with no RAM watch available :p
Goo have learned how to fly
29:13 LOST FILLING? LOOSE CAP? MY DENTIST IS ALWAYS IN?
Watching him fling goo balls around at the speed of light is hilarious
this video of my childhood
Now I wanna see all the OCDs with the TAS
The audio channels are incorrectly swapped in this video...
Holy Crap all the goo balls go flying
Speedrunners: I am speed
STBM: *I am the light*
Who knew that the goo balls where capable of anti gravity techniques
Ive been here before?
This video is silly and I love it.
Epic!
The Single Goo Line Meta
This not how i remember playing world of goo..
Epic TAS btw
Holy shit the nostalgia
Take a shot each time TAS does something that blows your mind.
JacobTheCroc haha jokes on you i cant think or see if my mind is blown so i only take one shot
29:13 Lost Filling? Loose Cap? My Dentist is Always In!
HOLY GOO!
Oh crap level 1! It's gonna take him 3 seco- WHOA.
Crazy
trippy hell 22:00
Why are the audio channels flipped
I remember watching this vid when I was like 6 years old and thinking about how a person can be so fast. Now today I see it again and I see that it was just a TAS lol
OH GOD! 20 seconds in and I'm already HORRENDOUSLY lost!
holy shit! you are fast! SAAAN!!!
I wanna see him work on the World of Good Corp. tower
emulated wii already, wow!
I was like "ofc, wtf", then I realized how old this video is lol.
this guy is sick
