Me too👍I don't have either phone, but that sky colour (and slightly more saturated overall too) difference in day time photos is much more pleasing to the eye on P30 Pro. I bet Samsung guys would agree as Samsung phones also take too saturated photos because they looks so good 😃

The P40 Pro looks better, but the P30 Pro is still looking great! I'm still satisfied with my P30 Pro, it got me some great pictures. It was ahead of its time for sure.

After this video I realized how P30 Pro is good for photography when compared with new model. The only clear difference I noticed was in video quality. Except that - not that much of a difference as we would expect from the latest flagship.

I find in p40pro main camera day time pictures in this comparison, the blue skies have a magenta cast to it which is not present in the P30pro .. Great video BTW, thanks..

thanks again. the 40 is definitely more refined, and I like the more natural colours. I actually prefer it for night mode too, it depends what you go for, but I don't like lights blowing out. and of course it seems way more light sensitive, plus the better selfie nights shots.

My cousins have all the x series except for xr. When I compared my mother's Huawei p30 lite 48 mp versiom the colors looked way more natural out of them all.

I've had my P30 Pro for nearly a year now and I really can't see after watching the comparison why I should go up and pay lots of money for very little upgrade and no Google (unless you side load it) . In the video around 9.00 to 9.15 there's a "creation" of anew light from the public light source in both the devices. It's not lens flare, they literally just recreate a light the same as the real light source.
While colours are more true to life in the P40 daylight photos I think the P30 is the best for night shots because they don't appear so dark, even if the extra light present is arguably unnatural. I can understand why Huawei have taken the approach they have with the P40, but you will never please everyone regardless of what you decide to change in a product. as far as day light photos are concerned, which is better is all down to personal choice, but a photographer would prefer the P40s day light photos.
P40 hands down, better colours and shading. As for night vision, perhaps there should be alternative settings to get what shots you require than presets ? P30 Pro camera update, nah, they will not do that now they have to sell their P40 Pro..Personally, I've just ordered mine! Thanks for a great video Alex..
I honestly think my P40 Pro doesn't have the final software on it. Still a little while till the phone will be officially available and I am pretty sure that we will see some updated to address the night mode issues
For night time mode you are right about them trying to be as natural as possible because apple iPhone 11 series is doing that but since you like them looking on p30 pro night mode preference for people they want it to look natural so it is nothing but personal preference. For me my personal preference is p30 pro night mode like you. Night mode is a new technology and definitely the best way to have it is by clicking the picture you like while the photo is loading and I do have that option on p20 pro and I believe they have all of these options on their Huawei phones. I love Huawei so much❤️❤️❤️ For apple, I wish they boost their audio quality and I wish RUclipsrs would talk about this, listening to music is pretty terrible on iPhones. Samsung, then Huawei have it best when it comes to listening to audio.
Would be good to see the exif data from the night pictures were the P40 Pro has so much noise. And know what mode you used for taking them. The P40 Pro should have better signal to noise ratio

Did you use night mode for P40 Pro when taking those night shots? Apparently I've been hearing that the normal mode taken at night for the P40 Pro actually looks better in many cases than the night mode being switched on, so it would be great if you could confirm that.
I have the P30 Pro and its great. The P40 is not a big step up but more a subtle one. Comparing the price and the Google Service compatiblity of both phones.. Than I must say P30 Pro is the way better pick

Then, we moved home, we were having a new bathroom fitted, I put my phone on the top of the big box containing the new loo, turned around and knocked it off 🙈 and though I didn't damage the phone physically, the drop damaged the light sensor on the camera, night sight stopped working and photo quality was poor, I was so upset! 😫 Lol 🙄
P40 Pro seems to have a red tint in most of the photos. The P30 Pro is over-saturated, but it has better contrast. Both produced moire artefacts in the video tests,
The only different in colors of photos is what that the P40 pro have a thin purple layer in all photos, inclusive in night. It is noted for its whites and sky colors, including browns.
Firstly, a very good comparison. As for night pictures, I think the P40pro is trying to keep more details in and around those light sources against dark background, and hence compromises some overall brightness of the whole picture.

the biggest improvement on the P40 Pro is the lowlight capabilities on the zoom lens, but sadly you havent tested that :(

The p30 pro has a vivid option, it looks like it's on. Choose standard, and the colors will look the same as p40 pro.
No, that isn't on, but the AI was on. If you turn it off the colours become more normal

I actually prefer the P30 Pro oversaturation. The P40 Pro looks washed out! I prefer a blue sky definitely!
I own both devices and apart from the wide camera which is way improved (but with narrower field of view) I always get better results on P30 Pro.

Firstly, a very good comparison. As for night pictures, I think the P40pro is trying to keep more details in and around those light sources against dark background, and hence compromises some overall brightness of the whole picture.
