  • This time on MonarchsFactory Jason, Medea, and all the Argonauts escape colchis with the golden fleece and adventure back to Iolcus where they face Pelias once and for all.
    The source for this story is mainly the Argonautica by Apollonius of Rhodes starting Book one around Chapter 3. Line 519-ish.
    You can find a translation of the text here: www.theoi.com/T...
    As well as Medea by Euripides, a translation of which can be found here: www.poetryintr...

    "You will be killed by the Argo."
    "Well, come on, just because every single other prophecy ever turned out to be true and fate is the most powerful force in our entire cosmos it doesn't mean it will happen to me..."

    • @crows2808
      @crows2808 5 лет назад

      To be fair, he was probably tired of adventures. Can you imagine the series of unlikely events that destiny would require if he'd fled to the other side of the world?

      Ok, but at least don't literally sleep under it making for it ridicolously easy to come true.

    Stop you had the choice between including baby death or not including baby death and thought, "Let's kill this baby!"
    ... very metal, I approve.

    I got the visual of that commercial airing in the US (maybe there too) where the kid in the wheelchair is going to beat a game. A kid runs out of his house screaming "He's going to do it. Come on, he's going to do it." Except it would be "Dael's finishing her mythology! Dael's finishing her mythology!" As everyone comes running to your house, thus the increased traffic during the shooting of the video.

    Honestly, this was a wild ride and I'm glad I was along for it. It was quite the... odyssey. Really enjoyed the back and forth banter. Was waiting for the last one to come out before splurge watching all of them haha. Great job Dael. I'd love to see some more myths in such detail, casually bantered about.

    Dael! Thank you again for another enchanting video!
    I'm unsure if it would be outside of your expertise let alone your interests, but would be able for your next mythology video, to pick a tale from the 1001 Arabian Nights? It would be amazing to hear your recanting of one of those mysterious adventures!

    Well, that's got to be my favourite D&D story. Even if the DM had to introduce that overpowered NPC later on to keep the party moving.
    Another question, Dael.
    . . . who's that old lady behind you?

  • @jasonross3657

    Can I suggest the story of Hercules wrestling Death? That's a fun little one
    Also, wonderful video. Love your mythology videos. The notes on differing versions is a nice touch; it's something I haven't seen elsewhere with these kinds of videos.
    This one makes me feel a bit guilty. I promise you, I am not as bad as my namesake.

    • @duckrutt
      @duckrutt 5 лет назад +2

      It kinda depends on which bit you think is slow. Does combat take too long? Do your players have analysis paralysis? Are you worried that you'll miss a rule so you look everything up?

    In your 50k video you were trying to remember a name and you said that "it was green".
    That is an indication that you may be a synesthete (someone who has synesthesia, don't panic, it's a cool ability that I wish that I had :) ). It is about the senses getting mixed, hearing colors, or tasting shapes for instance. It generally helps with memory. About 4% of the population are synesthetes and it is thought to be hereditary.
    Many people never realize that they are synesthetes because those who aren't tend to edit out comments that don't make sense to them so the synesthete never realizes that they can do something that others can't.
    Anyway, you can check out more about it here:

      I am indeed Synesthetic! Well picked! All four of the siblings in my family a synesthetes; mum first realised something was up when a huge argument blew up over the colour of Wednesday but didn't put the pieces together until she watched a docco called "Derrick Tastes of Earwax" years later. :)

    My grandma is not a fan of Greek mythology. My mom used to be, but it got too dark for her... probably because of stories like this one. I'm kind of in the same boat, I get that real life is full of tragedy, but I prefer my stories to have happy endings.
    Anyway, you did a nice job with it. Even with the "live study audience." Actually, I think they really added to your performance, even if they did distract you. Tell them I said "Hello."

    • @drekfletch
      @drekfletch 5 лет назад +1

      Hiya! Dael here. You seem to watch my videos! Thought I'd check; do you actually want answers to these questions or are you just being rude and venting? Because I have answers to these questions and am happy to explain them, but something tells me that if you were really asking you would have figured out a way to word your comment respectfully.
