I recently bought an iceberg climbing rose plant. I wanted to know if they bloom the first year? Or do they bloom only from old wood? If so, when can I start seeing flushes of flowers?

Should flower in first year on new wood, buds should appear in spring. In some climates they flower almost year round.

I got a plants whose tag doesn’t specify the type. The mature size listed is 4-5 feet high by 3-4 feet wide. Would this be the bush or standard variety?

If its single stem and grafted at the top its a standard. Multiple stems from the ground its a bush.

It could be a settling in period, and maybe this season it will come good.
If that not the issue them...
One possibility is the soil that it is growing in, especially if it is a saline soil.
However more likely it is over OR under watering, they do like consistent moisture, however not wet and soggy. Mulch is a good way to help with moisture.
They also need a position in full sun.
After that look for insect pests or fungal diseases.
So water regularly, mulch and fertiilise if the other things are all OK.

I got 2 climbing Iceberg roses as a gift for an arbor. How far from the side of the Arbor should I plant them so we can still walk between them under the ardor, yet they can still climb up both sides of the arbor? Thank you!

We are guessing that your arbor is like an arch. So you will be planting the roses on the outside of each side of the arch. Plant them around 8 - 12 inches (20 -30cm) on the outside of the arbor and then tie them back to the arbour as they grow up. If they grow into the arbor and restrict access too much you will need to prune them back, however most growth will be on the sunny outsides. Hope this helps, however it is difficult without seeing the arbor and position.

@@johnnyAGardening yes you explained it and understood it perfectly! Yes it's an arch with a 3 foot opening. Thank you so much!!

Not sure where you are located so here are a two possibilities.
Soil Acidity can change flower colour. This can be fixed, your local nursery should be able to guide you.
Cold weather can do the same. Not much you can do about that.
HOWEVER this is unusual for Iceberg roses.
So where did you buy them from ? I would be contacting the supplier to see if others have had similar issues. OR a good local nursery to ask if others in your area have had the same issue.
I will also try to contact our local rose expert to get his opinion.
