Oh the sweet sound of a good running FE. It has been 20 years since i have heard that sound. 1975 390 mid-range rv cam, bored 40 over, 850 holley dubble pumper, out side frame headers in a f-250 four wheel drive. Best running and pulling truck i ever owned for a work truck.
Great job on build !! Fantastic job explaining everything, it is much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos, it is a time consuming job editing, camera work, etc.
@@rogerbrierton5726 He is not doing any more customer rebuilds, I tried a few months back and was super bummed to find out he is only doing cylinder heads and machine work as well as videos but no more complete engines

Great to see the engine running, if you are doing any other FE builds in the near future, I would be highly interested as I too am rebuilding my own FE and would love to get as much insight as possible on high performance FE's especially. 1976 F-250 2WD C6 auto
I just found your channel and watched a few really informative videos. Thank you for putting out this type of video. I didn't realize you are in the Phoenix area. I live in Chandler, AZ myself. I've got a 351 Modified in a 1978 Ford F150 that I'm working on, and if you wouldn't mind, I'd love to be able to shoot off some questions regarding some issues I've run into. Kind regards, Charles
I'm actually replacing the 351m from my 78 with a 74 390 haha and my wife's entire family lives in like san tan valley/ AJ /Gilbert are we visit there often
I enjoyed the videos of this engine a lot, because I've never seen an FE unbuttoned. After seeing it they seem like a Mopar B/RB with a lot of goofy extra Ford stuff.
Glad you're back and that you're doing well. Certainly can't fault a guy for working. I don't seem to have any spare time to do anything I want to do lately either. Hope you have a good Christmas and New Year if we don't hear form you till after the 1st. Good work on that FE. Sounds really healthy. That truck looks like the makings of a really tough offroader.
Good vids! I was hoping to see you use the truck test stand, prime the oil pump, set the distributor and to see you rotate the crank by hand (just to verify resistance).
Just finished watching this entire series and wanted to let you know that your videos are fantastic, thank you. I recently bought a 67 F100 4x4 with a 390 in it, gonna start a rebuild soon... I'm also in the Phoenix area, is there a shop you'd recommend for the machine work? I've only ever used Engine House for the motors I've done in the past. Thanks again, I feel confident, knowledgeable, and ready for this rebuild now.
What Roush Yates you're a big dog if they're farming stuff out to you well I'm glad you put another video out there that used to be one of my favorite pickups a dent side Ford with a f e
Hello, I've followed the 390 stroker build and it sounds awesome. Super nice job! I'm currently building a non-stroker 390 for my '76 Highboy. Question if I may: Does the passenger side lifter gallery have a plug at the front of the block or does the cam thrust plate bolt block it off (without a plug)? I appreciate your time.
Is there a break-in period for a roller cam? I know the flat tappet cam motors I've mess with, they wanted 2,000 RPMs for like 20-30 minutes for the cam to break-in.
Jeybim building a 390 out of a 74 pickup to put in my 79 pickup and I would love to buy some parts from a knowledgeable trustworthy and fair guy like you, is that still possible?
Hey bud question for you. i am rebuilding my 390 nothing serious, just 0.30 over, factory heads, and a comp cams flat tappet 268 lift cam. it seems that my main bearing bolts are stretched.i was having trouble torquing them, so i pulled them and a couple look thinner half way down the threads. Are these just grade 8's? the top of the bolts have 6 lines on the head. If so can i just run to my local fastener store and get the same size grade 8's. what do you recommendation. Also thank you for these videos, they have helped me tremendously

I don't see numbers, stoke final CID. I had two of those in the 70s. One was a straight axle gasser 64.5 mustang I called it "anyway but straight " wheels up right turns often. The other was a top end highway car and ran hard, 500 custom.
6 months ago i got my buddy a truck like this with a roller 390 in it with swing arms front and back 2 feet of travel full roll cage so the frame does not roll over in front from jumping it for 2500 and it was bobbed with the box shorten tires are 44 on inke wheels no rust i think he is selling it for 3500
How much did the cost of the stroker 390 cost all together. I have a few Ford trucks with 360/390 in them that I'd have to go through or have someone go through them for me. Since I don't have a lot of the specialty tools for them.
Been watching your 390 videos I might have missed it but I'm about to build a 390 myself stroker big heads big cam the whole enchilada I was just wondering how much horsepower can a stock 390 2 bolt handle and if there is a way to make it a 4-bolt or cross-bolt without getting a 427 block, thank you I hope to hear from you

I'm not an experienced engine builder as you surely are but if this video was the 1st time starting this fresh rebuild, shouldn't you have immediately brought the rpms up to 2,000 to 2,500 and varied it there for 20 minutes or so for the sake of breaking in the new camshaft?,,,
Hi Dan, Sounds like you have a similar truck to mine. Do you have a low-range t-case? Mine is the only F100 that I’ve ever seen that has a t-case without a low range.
People who drive old cars are in the envied minority of the world population. Like irresponsible hunters that abuse land with litter or vandalism or bad shots to game, and cause less hunting grounds and more laws, so are the few of us that do the same thing with our engine builds that annoy the lawmaking majority with noise and air pollution. Where I live there is no emissions test yet, but I guarantee that one day all cars will have to wear a sticker saying its compliant BECAUSE there are enough people with “antique” tags on cars made in the70s and 80s and early 90s driving with street modified or pro mod engine with no cats and no mufflers. The best way to keep our passion from being legislated out of existence is to make big power that doesn’t bring negative attention.
