Lol well the questions were pretty terrible. You can imagine how repetitive interviews are. But yeah as soon as he mentioned comics, Rivers face lit up lol
I’ve noticed that Rivers tends to liven up whenever someone brings up an interest of his during the interviews from this period. Usually he’s extremely awkward and quiet and then someone brings up comics or whatever and he perks up and makes eye contact. There’s an interview from around the time where he’s sitting in a car with some journalist and is extremely timid and then she brings up cars or something and his eyes light up and he starts engaging. It’s cute
mark1800 When you described it, I didn't think it was gonna be that funny, but it had me laughin lol. I could just imagine when he finally does look up like MrVictor said, and his face is no longer in frame LOL
I have trouble with staring into peoples eyes.. I sometimes forget to blink and then wonder if I am looking at them to much or too weirdly... Same kind of problem just reversed.
There is a shade, but I feel Rivers is way more genuine. I used to idolize Kurt in my teens, but the older you get the more you kinda realize Kurt (and Krist) were massive fronters in their early interviews. Kurt especially was divaish and pretty much a grunge valley girl. Progressive politics and great music is their legacy for suuuure.
Yeah, I feel like he's trying to be like Kurt Cobain, and he does nail one part of Kurts personality, but in general Kurt was 100 times more interesting in interviews. Sure, there are examples where Kurts acting like Rivers here, but most of the time he's funny and came across as insightful and nice and had a lot to say. Rivers comes off like a severely traumantised child, staring at the floor and seeming completely uninterested. To be honest this interviewer is very good, he manages to get some actual content out of him, which is more than most people got in '95, '96.
Nah he's way less controversial and more polite than Kurt, the interviewer actively said "do you hate the media, does the fame bother you?" with the comparison of Kurt in mind and Rivers didn't jump to the yes option straight up.
It’s an underground autobiographical comic from the 90s. Rivers actually wrote a letter to the author praising his work and saying it was a big influence on Pinkerton and it was included in one of the issues. Confidentially also the name of a tv show, but they’re unrelated otherwise
“Do you ever read comics?”
eye contact

Rivers only made eye contact after noticing that he had something in common with the interviewer. lol
Jabba's a smart guy, that was a strategic question that was very well executed.
Lol well the questions were pretty terrible. You can imagine how repetitive interviews are. But yeah as soon as he mentioned comics, Rivers face lit up lol
That's a trait of autism. He is autistic with low support needs.
Rivers deliberately making eye contact with you at this time would make your heart skip a beat
Yeah that’s all you need to say, but facts it really is uncanny

i like how he was looking at the ground so they used a different camera to catch his face
It's funny how Rivers only starts looking at the interviewer once they start talking about the comics.

I love it when Rivers is asked about comic books and gets his geeky mode on and talks with confidence.. just love the guy!!
You're a lucky guy if rivers looks you into the eyes.
Rivers really perked up after comics were brought up.
3:43 inner geek comes out
Happy Rivers :)
LOL at the camera change mid-segment

Awesome interview. The guy keeps it going. kudos.
man i love rivers so much
I love how honest he is about how a lot of songs are about his love life.
Poor rivers, I really relate to his situation (in a way) at that time especially talking about his love life consumes his thoughts.
Perfect ending. That look was so sweet
How to get Rivers attention? Talk about comic books!
I have social anxiety and I'm exactly like this. I have trouble making eye contact.
RIVA WEEZAH
This is every River’s interview from 93-2001. Man I miss this Weezer
he reminds me of me
God knew Rivers would be too powerful with social skills.
I too have trouble with eye contact XD
I have trouble with staring into peoples eyes.. I sometimes forget to blink and then wonder if I am looking at them to much or too weirdly... Same kind of problem just reversed.
I just look at their mouth or nose when I'm talking to people. Looking people in the eye for a whole conversation feels awkward to me
I enjoy your name
Me too. I've been in situations though where I look at someone and all of a sudden they want to fight.
same.
2:45 Heroin Girl by Everclear 🙌

he kinda reminds me of Kurt Cobain, the way he converses
3:45 he kinda sounds like Kurt lol

rivers is most likely autistic, and I don't mean it in an offensive way as some people may think and as an autistic person myself
😂😂😂😂 thats the only time panteras ever crossed my mind.
the interviewer legitimately did a great job
That's my default look 😊
he looks terrified for his life
hahaha i love everything about this interview xD
I'm kinda surprised Rivers isn't a Pantera fan
Rivers getting interviewed by Davo from Fat Pizza will never not be funny to me.
he reminds me alot of kurt cobain the way he takes interviews

they're the same person.
Lol hes not “trying to be like kurt”, they both just happen to have the same demeanour.
Nah he's way less controversial and more polite than Kurt, the interviewer actively said "do you hate the media, does the fame bother you?" with the comparison of Kurt in mind and Rivers didn't jump to the yes option straight up.
@@GoCotton he’s not “trying” thats literally his personality
RIVAH WEEZAH 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
i do think it’s really sweet that during that time rivers finally could find himself in an interview that he was semi-comfortable in
Camera down *
He reminds me of Graham coxon
DAMNIT BRISBANE

Radiohead Creep started playin at the end?
Kurt Cobain went through a lot those few years

Peep show is a comics??? A great Tv show!

wisa
Does that kinda get in the way of your chosen profession?
Such a GREAT question.
Interviewer: Does that bug you that you have fans that like singing along to your music???
