The Calamity Mod is a large content mod for Terraria which adds many hours of endgame content and dozens of enemies and bosses dispersed throughout the vanilla game's progression. The Calamity Mod also features several harder difficulty modes, 5 new biomes and new structures, a new class, a new leveling mechanic, more than 30 new songs, over 50 recipes for previously uncraftable vanilla items and other assorted changes to vanilla gameplay.
I wish there were more "Upgrade Road" weapons in games like Terraria. Everyone has a weapon in a game that they dont want to get rid of just because of how much they've used it, and upgrading it is like being able to bring it up to the next stage of gameplay with you.
hopefully the rainbow rod gets this treatment
Ong, but it takes out luck based drops, cause players can just get upgrades 4ever, or just the best

@@VeraVemaVena is illegal gunparts a HM thing? it might be but it could be a post-hivemind/crimson counterpart weapon that uses the material they drop (corrupted tissue or smth?) and it would be really nice
@@Le_Ducc illegal gun parts can be bought at any point in the game, just only at night time.
I love how many weapons get OP upgrades in calamity, most of them are really fun to use!
Over 1000 so far, also calamity is far from done seeing as corruption and crimson still dont have a hardmode boss and yharim and draedon are actual bosses planned (draedon shows up but he isnt a fightable enemy in the exo mechs)

About a year ago me and two friends did a calamity play through together and I was the ranger, there so many cool ranged weapons to choose from

Sky Fracture and Onyx Blaster are such a nice and fun to use weps. I hope Sky Fracture get this much attention too
The Hog Rider card is unlocked from the Spell Valley (Arena 5). He is a very fast building-targeting, melee troop with moderately high hitpoints and damage. He appears just like his Clash of Clans counterpart; a man with brown eyebrows, a beard, a mohawk, and a golden body piercing in his left ear who is riding a hog. A Hog Rider card costs 4 Elixir to deploy.
Strategy:-
His fast move speed can boost forward mini tanks like an Ice Golem in a push. At the same time, he can also function as a tank for lower hitpoint troops such as Goblins as he still has a fair amount of health. Most cheap swarms complement the Hog Rider well, as they are nearly as fast as him and usually force more than one card out of the opponent's hand.
The Hog Rider struggles with swarms, as they can damage him down and defeat him quickly while obstructing his path. Barbarians in particular can fully counter him without very strict timing on the defender's part, though be wary of spells.
A Hunter can kill the Hog Rider in 2 hits if placed right on top of it. However, if you place something in front of the Hog Rider, the Hunter's splash will damage the Hog Rider and hit the card in front of it more.
The Hog Rider in conjunction with the Freeze can surprise the opponent and allow the Hog Rider to deal much more damage than anticipated, especially if the opponent's go-to counter is a swarm, or swarms are their only effective counter to him. Skeletons and Bats will immediately be defeated by the spell, while Spear Goblins, Goblins, and Minions will be at low enough health to be defeated by a follow up Zap or Giant Snowball.
However, this strategy isn't very effective against buildings as the Hog Rider will take a while to destroy the building, giving the opponent ample time to articulate another counter.

This video was my introduction to Calamity when I got back into Terraria in 2021. It felt so alien, yet intriguing, because I hadn't known of any Terraria mods. The Cosmilite was so cool to look at. Solar Eclipse fragments were weird and new. These bosses were so different. Exo Mech Ares literally creeped me out from how it stuck to the top of the screen, and the Rainbow sphere in the middle looking like an eye. Now I've finished Calamity six times now and am on my way to finish Infernum.
Bro the onyx blaster is my favorite weapon.. this is always my go to weapon with frost armor in early hardmode to plantera or golem.. then i played calamity and found its upgrade wow..

I love how every version of the onyx blaster is just one of the best for one portion of bosses in the game. Onyx blaster: mech bosses. Onyx chain gun: profaned guardian. Onyxia: yharon
Also if you use (fully upgraded)haste streaks and the replica ability from the decadent skills mod you can make the onyxia shoot master and stronger

For some reason, the onyx upgrades are just
never great for when I use them
idk how or why since everyone else thinks otherwise but
every time I have used them, it does monumentally less dps than the other weapons available
for example, at the start of Post-ML, the shredder can deal around 10-15k dps with holy fire bullets, but the onyx chain gun was only dealing 4-7k dps for me
Are you making sure that the actual onyx blast is hitting? That’s a huge part of its dps.
Yeah I am, and it's still not high dps, plus it seems super impractical to fight something like yharon (who commonly dashes way off your screen, especially on death or malice which are the difficulties I play on) when the onyx blast's range is barely further than your visual range
@@cap1986 I play on death mode too. Onyxia made really quick work of Yharon on my last playthrough. Maybe you’re just missing a lot of shots?
idk, I had higher dps with the SDFMG and it was more reliable since it had long range, its fresh in my memory since I just did a ranger playthrough

thank you for making this, I use terra bullets and it's dps lacked against my other weapons but seeing that dps is going to bid me to try every weapon with many different kinds of bullets instead of just cursed and terra.
I really liked the onyx blaster in terraria, It's cool that it got many upgrades in Calamity. This video also reminded me that the demon altars give souls (I forgor about that) Nice helpful vid

The Onyx Blaster was quite possibly my favorite weapon on my first playthrough of Terraria, and it's my favorite series of weapons in Calamity.

Can you tell me how much mods do you use in your calamity gameplay and is going with just calamity enough or there is some mod/s that makes it smoother/better?
The content mod I use is pretty much only Calamity mod, but with a lot of QoL mods like Yet Another Boss Health Bar, Luiafk, Fargo's mod, Unleveled, Recipe Browser, and probably some other more that I forgot to mention

honestly, in my sanity lowering fight against yharon as a ranger, onyxia was just a better option than sdfmg, however in the providence fight i would HIGHLY suggest planars ripper, along with musket balls to deal insane dps and shred her health, do this with an all-out damage build and you can shred through any boss pre-dog, with a gun you get right after moonlord.
Can I ask, what is name of the grey silver armor set you have in the first part of the video? Its so cool with the blaster :D

@@GitGudWO Thank you for the reply ^^ Well yes, chestplate and boots look like titanium armor, but I mostly meant the helmet. Titanium helmet looks different and has lots of spikes, but this looks like hallowed or iron helmet, sadly it's not either of them. I was searching for it in terraria and calamity armors, but still couldn't find it. Is it some special calamity vanity item?

i'll rank the upgrades like this:
normal onyx blaster: good if you use verium bullets or bullets that deal high damage or pierce, 7/10
onyx chain blaster: gets easily outclassed by prideful hunter's planar ripper or elemental eruption, can be good for crow control in case you need to farm more fragments but other than that, i don't consider this an 'upgrade' i just consider it a damage and speed bonus, 4/10
onyxia: so i did some research and compared it with SDFMG, phangasm and alluvion and onyxia deals more damage, its the best ranger weapon pre-yharon (for me) and i do consider this one an upgrade, 9/10 would use it again
I love the onyxia because it sends dummies hitboxes flying and also you can build up insane speed by shooting the floor and bouncing with the recoil
I'm doing a ranger run where I can't use guns, bows, flamethrowers, or launchers and one of the most painful parts is not being able to use these (I haven't gotten to use them at all yet)
I would highly recommend this run. A ton of these weapons never get used like the Speed Blaster (Paintball Gun + Souls of Night) and the Polaris Pufferfish (fished from Astral Infection Pre-Mech)

It has been quite fun actually, getting to use weapons that mostly get ignored. Like did you know there's a paintball gun upgrade crafted with souls of sight?
