That new factory is about a half an hour from me. They said I could get a tour and pick up a bike directly from the factory when it opens. I’m so excited. I’ve long wanted a Time.
This is HUGE news. If they start showing up in bike shops here next to the more common brands... or even through their own dealerships...maybe even direct to consumer?
Time Bicycle is US owned currently. Speculation: They want to grow the company, especially in the US. Time Bikes has next to no US dealer network. If Time is known at all in the US, it's mainly for their pedal business (which is owned by SRAM and separate from the bike business). The US factory is located close to research facilities that support other manufacturers, and I expect they will have some design and development located there. I expect the Slovakia factory to continue to supply the European market, while the US factory supplies the North American market.
They'll probably be showered with state money too, on shoring production, composites manufacturing and so on, I suspect if they set up shop there it's because they got a free money deal
At first they will keep the Slovakian factory but it creates a true logistical nightmare as you need double the molds, if you modify something while production already as started there's double the work to apply it,... Inevitably frames will be different if they come from Europe or US factory so I don't think it will last too long. Cheaper to export from a bigger factory than having two smaller factories unless big volumes (like cars, food products, etc)
I own a ADHX 45 and I love it. It is currently my quiverkiller bike. I can race gravel with the 45mm tires on the weekend and swap out the wheels for road wheels for my local weeknight race rides. The geo on a size is quite quick so great for fast US gravel and capable on fast road, but feels more like an endurance bike.
As far as I understood the Alpe D'huez X featured in this video replaces the previous ADHX and not the ADH? The Alpe d'Huez X is basically a marketing spin on the previous ADHX, because the ADHX was never really a gravel bike to begin with, 38mm tyre clearance just wasn't big enough. Time solved that issue by introducing the ADHX45 as their true gravel bike and remarketed the ADHX (new name and paint jobs) as an allroad bike and now calling it the Alpe D'huez X. So the ADHX was discontinued but the ADH road bike is still available as far as I can see on Time's website. The paint jobs of the ADH were updated for the 2024 season but I can't find anywhere that it's being discontinued. Maybe that will happen when the new Scylon is released sometime in the next 2 months? Anyways, Time's range of bikes is a little confusing if you ask me. Anyways, I have the 2023 ADH and I absolutely love it!!
I’ve been riding Times for the past 17 years. Edge, VRS, Fluidity Aktiv and currently Scylon. The Scylon is the fastest and stiffest. The Fluidity is an endurance setup and great for 5+ hour rides. They all have a great balance of comfort and stiffness. When I finally make the jump to discs and maybe electronic shifting it will likely be an ADHX.
@@paulhaselton haha in my dreams! Probably the frame set would costs more than 5k. I will stick with what I have until the prices comes down to more sensible levels. Even then a Time Scylon would probably be out of my reach!
@@muratmustafa4532 it will be pretty much the same as the old one, just with fully internal cable routing. I'm already disappointed, but that's what it is
@@michaelmechex There might be some more substantial differences. The old bike was pretty outdated and since then technology and rules moved on. I expect Time to come up with a modern frame shape with increased aero profiles taking account of new UCI rules. Also the tyre clearance is likely to be increased. Most modern aero bikes take 32c. Not that it is needed of course.
I had Cannondale bike CAAD5 about 2002-03, that came with Time fork. To this day it's the best riding fork I've ever used and I wish they still offered just a fork. The standard Time ADH frame is still available on their site in a lot of sizes/colours. It's on sale too for "only" £2200. Not bad considering quality and the cost of an equivalent Specialized/Cannondale/Giant frameset.
South Carolina is a notable place to put their factory. 1. It's near a lot of amount of carbon fiber manufacturing, i.e. Boeing 787 carbon manufacturing, so, the skilled labor is there. 2. It's very friendly for businesses in the context of labor. i.e. anti-union laws.
Time’s decision on South Carolina is not related to Boeing (who are in Charleston 4 hrs south) but very much related to BMW and Clemson University who already cooperate on carbon technology and are close by. Also Time is developing an even more advanced RTM process at the SC facility that is said to be much lighter. Sounds like this will become where they build the top end customer and pro race bikes (like Cervelo did with Project California) in preparation to rejoin the World Tour.
I’ve got an older Scylon and recently purchased a rim brake ADH which I bought ready to paint and got finished in Chroma Pink. It’s great, as is the Scylon, as has every other Time bike I’ve had and I’ve had a few. Time build standards have always been exemplary and I think that will continue in the US. Ride one and you’ll understand.
I have said this in a reply in the thread but ADH is still current but has been on sale .....however ADH X will appeal to a wider audience due to increased tyre clearance and sharing the same reach and stack figures but with an 8mm increase to the wheelbase and symmetrical chain stays unlike the ADH and old ADHX.. Regardless of how well the ADH rides with 28c the move to wider rims and larger tyres do provide increased comfort and performance. I have been riding the "All Road / Fast Gravel" ADHX for 2 years now running mainly with 55mm rims and 35 Schwabe Allroad fitted and has been great tool for the ever eroding UK roads 😆
All the Time bikes seem to differ in is wheel size they can accommodate. The geometry is identical or virtually identical on all, except for wheelbase. Same stacks and reach measurements virtually across the board.

not sure about the "astronomical" livability score for anything with internal routing through the headset...this system running under the stem (deda, FSA, etc.) isn't too bad BUT surely a bike designed for comfort and not racing would be better off with external routing. IMO
It’s really easy with the deda dcr. I have the adhx 45 and just swapped a 90mm for a 120 stem and took out a few spacers all without having to reroute any cables.
@@bobbyiv9335 totally get that (I've lived with a similar system) but it is still a compromise that is favoring marketing/aesthetics (and VERY marginal performance) over functionality. would love a brand like time to buck industry trends and just focus on a bike that's great to ride and as easy to work on/live with/travel with/service at home for the long term as possible - especially given the level of quality and cost
I'm all for this allroad trend! Imo up to 38 slick is just right. Like a road bike should fit up to 32c, allroad up to 38 and gravel at least 45, preferably up to 700x50
I sport a TIME ADHX 45 and I LOVE it on gravel (I even did some UCI gravel races with it), but it is also surprisingly good on the Road. Now I am considering to replace my Canyon Aeroad with some other TIME bike, maybe a Scylon once it gets updated to internal routing.
I love my ADHX 45. I probably should’ve bought XS, but I chose S I have plans to race it in the Trans Am next year so I want frame triangle space. I put a shorter stem and sacrificed standover height, but still rides very well
Because it isn't one. This review fits very well with their long-standing perception of what are good bikes and not. It's not a scripted 'review', in which e.g. one week reto bikes are considered the best-of-the best, and the next week supermodern bikes are argued to be the most desirable for the viewers.
Love my ADHX, set up in 1x GRX with 38 maxxis tyres, enables me to ride some 'knarly' track and fields and can keep up with the roadies but do run out of gears down hill due no big ring, best thing is there's not many about 'Yet!! so enjoying the uniqueness also! I expect after you review Cade this will like change
I was deciding between the two and felt the 28mm tire clearance on the ADH just doesn't make sense. Road disc was meant to give us comfortable wider tires and they also roll faster. Aero advantage doesn't make sense at normal speeds. But each to their own and it's great you got a Time.
I need you guys to get an ADHX 45 and tell us how differently it rides on the road with the same wheels and tires! I'd happily spend the money on one if it could be a real N=1 bike.
It's a bit slugish, it has longer rear stays. I like it with 650b, but with 700c the handling gets slower. It immediately it wants to get back after you lean it. IMO you can really feel 430mm chainstays. My 3T Eploro Ultra is point and shoot compared to it.
First carbon bike was a Time Edge Racer and I loved it. At the time it was second cheapest in their range, but the quality felt like buying a "cheap" Bentley.
It was also my first carbon bike... except I bought it last year. xD Came with a 10 speed Ultegra from 2005. Currently upgrading it to a 11 speed 105 from 2018 with 50/34 and 11-34 to turn it into a proper climbing bike. I have no other frame of reference other than that it feels comfortable and is super agile. And yes, I agree with your analogy, although I would have used Porsche as reference :P
@@Shr1ukan you have a great bike. My advice is stick with it! Porsche make some dreadful cars and the ride quality isn’t a Bentley…Time just don’t seem good make badly put together bikes😜.
@@alastair7399 Oh comfort-wise, yes, Bentley wins everyday. I guess I was more speaking about Porsche's racing pedigree being present in their entry-level cars, which do make good sporty cars. And I will stick with it. When I went to my LBS to get a quote and told my bike mechanic I wanted to upgrade the groupset he asked me why not simply buy a new or newer-used bike to which I simply told him that I lucked into frame quality that still stands the test of time. He didn't know the brand's history, which is fair. Went back next day to confirm the order and he told me he'd seen a few videos of cut-ups and was impressed how clean it was. I might or might not have converted him xD
@@Shr1ukan Mine is Time Izon with 11-28 cassette. I haven't ridden long enough except as temporary commuter bike. Still it feels different from my gravel in terms of comfort.
Their frames are beautiful and listened to some podcasts about their new/different way to make carbon frames. I really think they need a dealer network in the states, figure something out with vendor managed inventory to limit LBS liability and yet get people to see these bikes. Tough sell for mail order bikes to be extremely expensive. Brands like Canyon are mail order but the price value gets people intrigued. Time won't have that luxury at a premium price point. IMO they also should at least be offering a SRAM Rival group set in all offerings.
sounds like you still have much to explore in weardale. head towards st johns chapel and you'll find 4 rediculuous climbs within 2 miles of each other. peat hill from westgate towards rookhope, chapel fell (which you have done on the 100 mile sportive), swinhope, well bank out of isreahope burn.
Question about sizing...you only mentioned the top tube and the reach but you did not care about the stack? Sometimes that is the issue with going with smaller bikes...the stack gets too small
I just mangled the drive train of my Jamis Renegade and am in the market for a replacement for 200-300 km days. From everything I read about Time, I'll want the new Fluidity if and when it is released. I wonder if it will.
I’m 6’4” / 193cm and ride large frames but because I have long legs/short body I have toe overlap on all the frames I’ve found that fit me. I’m so used to it now I forgot it’s even a thing you could _not_ have :)
Nothing wrong with a Triban alum frame (I bought one for my teen) but upgrading it for performance is silly (though upgrading stem / saddle for comfort makes sense). If you want a better bike just order a Canyon Endurace AL or similar.
It's bananas that a size XS is only small enough for around 170cm riders. I get it, 170cm isn't tall, but it's not nearly that short either. Definitely not size xs short. Love the video and the brief sizing comments!
Agreed. I have a Time ADHX. Lovely, modern all road bike. And while it is great that Time is getting more media coverage, if you have been paid to produce this content, it should be marked as such.
Probably because it hurts performance. The way the RUclips terms read, it makes it seem like a suggestion. Certainly seems like the de facto accepted way of doing business.
Not discontinued but were on summer sale and thats finishing shortly. The ADH X will impact sales of the ADH due to the increased clearance share the same layup along with the same reach and stack figures but featuring a 8mm longer wheelbase and now symmetrical chain stays.
Is 7.9kilos without pedals and bottles? Like manufacturers scale? Then it's a lot for a carbon frame with duraace... My aluminium bike in size 57 with carbon fork and mechanical 105 rim brake groupset weight 7.90kilos....
My concern as well. The one's coming out of Slovakia were virtually flawless. My concern is that now that they are owned by the same guys that own Allied Cycle Works the race to cut corners and maximize ROI will occur and the overall quality will drop.
They might do frames for other companies and put the 'Made in the USA' sticker on it. I think need to do a quirky bike to get more media attention, they should make a retro relaxed MTB / ATB or team up with the local frame builders network. They are great bikes, my heart says yes, my wallet says no. Great video and yes it's an AD
Whoa, that bike weighs as much as my Madone SLR with Bora WTO 60mm wheels. Either my bike is lighter than I thought it was, or Time bikes are getting heavy.
Odd choices. A true gravel bike that doesn't take 50C isn't Dylan Johnson friendly. A road bike that takes 38C feels like something even I wouldn't to ride, yet I'm loving my 32C clearance aero bike. They're also yet to refresh the skylon.
Hello, I’m missing the disclaimer that Jimmy was gifted a Time bike. So is this largely positive first look or preview really impartial? Please clarify.
Can confirm Alpe d'huez does not care if you have 28mm or 38mm, youll hate your life either way 😂. Most people will be on 32-35 on road i. A couple years.
I have listned few podcasts about Time and im my opinion their plan is: Scylon will be introduced in a few weeks. Then there will come time for ADH update which, I assume will be produced with improved process, which should allow for lower weight. They need it to market it as pure road/ climbing bike. I agree with comments that it looks like their frames are limited by process design. In this matter those two models, scylon and adh, should show what is possibble in terms of future designs from Time. ADHX looks sweet, but I agree it is overpriced with its design/ weight which I think they don't even mention on their site. Weight isn't that important but people look at it because it is one of few parameters that you can use to compare frames. Keep in mind that people pay extra for sworks, turqe and so on, just for the sake of having lower weight. In general, after those moves their offering will be complete. I think rebranding adhx as allroad was good move. This is what this model aways has been.
Genuinely intrigued until I saw the geometry chart. At 160cm this will never work. How can they make this legit one size larger than any other brand out there?
Supposedly the game plan in the US is for them to sell directly from the final US assembly point in Arkansas. Frames and forks will be fabbed in the new SC plant, but final assembly/QA will take place in Arkansas. Have not heard of them pursuing building out a dealer network in the US.
I don't think the ADH is going anywhere. It's still on the site and the second set of paint jobs have only been out for a year or so now. The ADHX has been substantially updated in terms of the fibres used (if the Time description is taken at face value) and has the new 'flip' paint jobs as described in this video. The next Time will be an update or replacement of the Scylon I imagine. They might update the ADH but I don't see them removing it from the range. I am lucky enough to own an ADH '23 and an ADHX and I love the former but not the latter, tyre clearance be damned. Maybe the ADHX is better with the new fibre, but getting on my ADH is like Christmas morning as a kid, getting on the ADHX afterwards is like Easter Monday. Stodgy. If anyone is in the market for an Ultegra Di2 ADHX in XS, I'm saving for a Scylon mk2 ;)
@@beastman6262 Same wheels and tyres, I swap them between frames often. Don't get me wrong, the ADHX isn't a terrible ride at all, I just don't get on with the handling. The geometry is different, but I have set it up as close as makes no difference in terms of fit. I just don't love it like I love my ADH. Sorry to use a marketing buzzword, but the ADHX doesn't feel as "reactive" as ADH. Which I suppose is to be expected as it is heavier and slightly slacker with a lower bottom bracket.
Time is doing some weird stuff. They make lovely bikes, but their naming scheme is terribly confusing, they have weird sizing, and their new models look like they have zero r&d budget. I'd love to see them turn it around so much, that I'm considering trying to get a job there. But my odds of getting hired at a meaningful position are probably less than zero 😂
So for $4K just for the frameset this bike costs more than my 2014 Cervelo R3 and outfitted with Force or Ultegra components the complete bike will still weigh more than my complete R3 with rim brakes, yet cost more than double the price. Thanks, but no thanks. LOL
The industry loves sticking with carbon, in part, because it fits the infinite digress of technology and design. I just hope we finally move out of the carbon realm and into something less techy but equally rideable like maybe nanocellulose which is just wood pulp etc. But all this tech business cracks me up because we all are still riding the same double-triangle design from generations past, so, if innovation really was the motivator here then I doubt we'd still be on these traditional designs. I will say the industry has gotten a lot of mileage out of all the carbon weaves and layups including all the aero shaped tubing etc. But the real zinger is despite all this the industry is narrowing offerings and acting as though the choices are limited when in reality they could still figure out how to offer more choices, I think. Choice is now synonymous with "custom" and thus higher priced options. Therefore, category and spec swapping/switching is tiresome even for those who have been riding our entire lives. Nothing against all-road but still don't see why it has to be like sizing where we are all thrown simply into small, medium or large.
I have an ADHX with Ekar and this is a really addictive combination for me. It's so comfortable, trustworthy and fast at the same time. I'm using it now more than my race bike. By the way, mine has the green gloss paint which I indeed find amazing.

I put a shorter stem and sacrificed standover height, but still rides very well
What is your height and inseams?
How is this not marked as an add?
Because it isn't one. This review fits very well with their long-standing perception of what are good bikes and not. It's not a scripted 'review', in which e.g. one week reto bikes are considered the best-of-the best, and the next week supermodern bikes are argued to be the most desirable for the viewers.
Because it’s a review. And why do you care?
as we we are not being paid or get to keep the frame - just like all our other first looks 👍
I got an ADH earlier this year. I am loving it. Glad I got it before it is gone as the ADHX is getting a bit too close to my gravel bike.
I was deciding between the two and felt the 28mm tire clearance on the ADH just doesn't make sense. Road disc was meant to give us comfortable wider tires and they also roll faster. Aero advantage doesn't make sense at normal speeds. But each to their own and it's great you got a Time.
i got ADHS. 100% cannot recommend 😅
I need you guys to get an ADHX 45 and tell us how differently it rides on the road with the same wheels and tires! I'd happily spend the money on one if it could be a real N=1 bike.
Jimmi has had one for a while now.
It was also my first carbon bike... except I bought it last year. xD
Came with a 10 speed Ultegra from 2005.
One day will get time or look frameset love them both best frames on the market !
In the US it seems like Time have discontinued the Scylon but not the 28mm clearance ADH.
My South Carolina POV is I would definitely prefer the European frame build whoever assembled my bike in South Carolina did a flawless job
Why would I want ADHX instead of ADHX 45? If they are almost the same (weight/geometry).
ADHX 45 came later. I would've gotten it had I known!
sounds like you still have much to explore in weardale. head towards st johns chapel and you'll find 4 rediculuous climbs within 2 miles of each other. peat hill from westgate towards rookhope, chapel fell (which you have done on the 100 mile sportive), swinhope, well bank out of isreahope burn.
Question about sizing...you only mentioned the top tube and the reach but you did not care about the stack? Sometimes that is the issue with going with smaller bikes...the stack gets too small
I have a TCR, same weight, 105 DI2, carbon wheels with 30mm tubeless, 3000 quid. What's the added value compared to a Giant TCR?
How tall are you and Jimmy? I’ve been noticing that you guys select really small bikes. What’s your inseam approx.? Please give in cm if possible!!
They are releasing the Skylon in a few weeks
Interesting because they have supposedly been working on an updated Fluidity model for quite some time now.
I just mangled the drive train of my Jamis Renegade and am in the market for a replacement for 200-300 km days. From everything I read about Time, I'll want the new Fluidity if and when it is released. I wonder if it will.
Sweet. I nearly bought an ADHX earlier in the year but got a LOOK 765 instead. Still hanker after a TIME bike though..
I did the same, bought the optimum plus.
How do you find toe overlap on an extra small frame Francis? I ride an x small and usually always encounter it.
Love the video and the brief sizing comments!
time is great but let’s be real… their road bikes aren’t selling much. they needed to simplify for cost purposes.
What is that handlebar tape?
So, this is an advertisement. Why isn’t the video marked as sponsored?
Agreed. I have a Time ADHX. Lovely, modern all road bike. And while it is great that Time is getting more media coverage, if you have been paid to produce this content, it should be marked as such.
Why are you butthurt by that?
@@hrisdev4 It's more than an AD
Probably because it hurts performance. The way the RUclips terms read, it makes it seem like a suggestion. Certainly seems like the de facto accepted way of doing business.
Why do you freaking care?
Are the Alpe D’Huex frames that have been discontinued available cheaper now?
Not discontinued but were on summer sale and thats finishing shortly. The ADH X will impact sales of the ADH due to the increased clearance share the same layup along with the same reach and stack figures but featuring a 8mm longer wheelbase and now symmetrical chain stays.
Never owned one, but I do like how they make the frames.
All other carbon fiber bike manufacturers lay CF sheets like paper mache. I just like how Time bike weave CF to make their frames just like basket.
One of the rare bikes still made in Europe 👍🏻
Is 7.9kilos without pedals and bottles? Like manufacturers scale? Then it's a lot for a carbon frame with duraace... My aluminium bike in size 57 with carbon fork and mechanical 105 rim brake groupset weight 7.90kilos....
Having worked with Americans before, pretty sure quality will suffer… or let’s say consistency in quality will vary a lot more
Few years of growing pain is what I would expect. As long as their BB size tolerance doesn't take dump, I can accept minor flaws.
My concern as well. The one's coming out of Slovakia were virtually flawless. My concern is that now that they are owned by the same guys that own Allied Cycle Works the race to cut corners and maximize ROI will occur and the overall quality will drop.
Man, the prices are insane.
Very interesting and unexpected move for Time to open a massive new factory in SC -- hmmm.
They did it because Time was bought out by an American company. Same guys that own Allied Cycles out of Arkansas now own Time.
What is meant with "Flip" Paintjob?
It’s paint that changes colour depending on the angle. Might “flip” from blue to purple or something.
@@matthewshaw3747 Its slightly different from the rest of the market as is in the clear coat so you can still see through to the carbon weave
1. Why not add it to the cool wall?
2. Jimmy, looking like Rocky with those sleeves rolled up.
Would love to own the Adhx 45.
Hola!!!
Decision dificil !!! Elegir el color😅 quiero la bici para años?
Magenta? Pena de no poder verlos en vivo, opiniones porfavor.
Un saludo
Hello from South Carolina. 😂 My guess is they set up shop in the Greenville area.
How could you not title this 🎵 TIME they are a-changin' 🎵 😢
Great initial review guys, nice one 👍👏
Thanks Francis , Jimmi , and Nic {for a nano}
The most important question is where is the new Scylon?
I see you experienced Bothal bank it's a steap climb.
Whoa, that bike weighs as much as my Madone SLR with Bora WTO 60mm wheels. Either my bike is lighter than I thought it was, or Time bikes are getting heavy.
This feels like we are going back to the older endurance type bikes rather than pushing everyone to gravel or race bikes
Odd choices. A true gravel bike that doesn't take 50C isn't Dylan Johnson friendly. A road bike that takes 38C feels like something even I wouldn't to ride, yet I'm loving my 32C clearance aero bike.
They're also yet to refresh the skylon.
Can you review all the new Boardman adv bikes. These are relatively affordable price tags?!
nice bikes, still can't afford them this Time...
Hello, I’m missing the disclaimer that Jimmy was gifted a Time bike. So is this largely positive first look or preview really impartial?
Please clarify.
Should read Time bikes are out of reach price wise for most people!!
That's pretty much all major brands out there. And they're all made in Taiwan and China.
Why are they calling their gravel bike Alpe d’Huez? It’s a paved road. Better paved than my road.
Its about time they changed.
It took a 7:41 video to say - the ADXH is an endurance bike.
Can we get something from Orro bikes on the channel? Been curious about them for a while
Can confirm Alpe d'huez does not care if you have 28mm or 38mm, youll hate your life either way 😂.
I’m very confused. Since when Time who was a French company got bought out?
The real question is; where does it go on Jimmy’s Cool Wall?
Prediction. Scylon aero bike will come soon. But in a year or 2, a pure lightweight ADH will return
So the Scylon is dead?
it has always been difficult to get Time bikes in the US. Does anyone know if they plan to sell direct or build a dealer network?
Is this with similar tires/ wheels? ADH and ADHX geometry is so close I’m curious how there could be such a huge difference in feel between the two.
I would love to see vlog ride with Nic
And now, the new ADHC..
I think Time's frame sizing is based from tall people who are 180cm and up. Even Argon 18 has similar sizing scheme for their frames.
TIME cant be wrong....
I think you mean time bikes are a’changin
shit, it's one bike to rule them all 🙃🙂
I am still waiting for the Time ADHD
I seen this big advertised and I want it but absolutely can’t afford it
Can you say "shill"?
This is GCN revisited.
Moving with the times?
