This dude was one of the many who helped shape what my game is now. Trust him! Great video guys :)
A lot of this advice was really solid. One thing you’ll see for all pro two handers is they have much later timing than what is typical since the two handed back swing is so short. In this video you say to push off in the first step and you’ll see Belmo won’t push off until halfway through his second step and the ball won’t pass his hips until he plants his 3rd step. Much later timing than advised in this video
Hello from california. I bowl one handed... I am going to give this a try. We will see how I do!!
I just started throwing 2-handed and this video is the most helpful I've watched. Most are way too complicated but this superhero explains his approach in a way anyone can understand.
Great video, thank you! I've been bowling 2 handed for 13 years now, I average 215ish depending on the house. I've shot four 300s and one 800 series but I've honestly just been winging the 2 handed approach. My release is perfect but footwork and backswing needed some serious work. Learned a lot from this, thank you!
I have only started bowling 2-handed after having some wrist and forearms issue playing 1-handed for sometime. Watched almost every content I could find on 2-handed bowling. Followed their instructions and pushed off on my right foot, on the second step, as a right-handed bowler. I felt the timing for me was off. Experimented with pushing off on the left foot and your video here just gave me confidence that I can also push off with the left foot. You were the only one that taught to push off on the left. Thank you!
Thanks dude, this help me piece together my movement, I think the hop will be beneficial. I'm gonna try this next practice
Great explaining, very clear and I really appreciate it! Can’t wait to bowl
Your mechanics look good brother, thanks for the free lessons. Looking forward to more videos!
Fantastic tutorial!!!
The two handed approach to bowling is very similar to the golf swing, main difference is we step in place in golf whereas we take 5 steps over a distance in bowling. Thanks for the presentation seriously thinking of moving to two-handed for my strike shots, and one-handed for spares.
Very helpful! Thank you!!!
Hi nice video, im doing a 4 step approach at the moment, but now that ive seen your video im going to try 5 step
great vid i'm saving this one thank you
Very good comments compared to the other bowlers giving advice on Two Handed bowling!
Hey:) I really like the tutorial. Specially how you explained the hop step. Its easy to go from watching to doing it.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
@@realaverageatbest Could you do a second video where you explain how you set up. Go from holding the ball, the tilt on the body and all things.
Its hard to go from start with ball to kind of walking sideways. Then also having that hopping step:) I am improving, but sideways walking is still an issue, and Just doing the 2 step or 3 step drill is fine. With the start and transition into the aproach is more difficult and i really like how you explain.
Your game is awsome. If you can get even more swing controll at the last step you will be golden. Seems like you use to much effort and its there you lose lot of pins/accuracy. In your backswing if you get your elbow in, you will be more on the inside of the ball. That means even of tougher patterns you ball will have lenght and hook when others struggle.
I have been bowling and coaching since 1993. Its fun to learn this and also doing what fit my body type the best.
Good teaching!! 👍🏻
I am in Canton! Great video. That "hop" in baseball is called a crow hop and is used to get the ball from outfield to home etc (used to generate power). I have found my mph increases with a hop, or playing back set of dots because I almost speed walk.
the crow hop when throwing is more to get your body into position for an accurate throw after fielding without losing your forward momentum. Here's a video that breaks it down and offers the non-hop alternative. Though, my preference was always the crow hop. ruclips.net/video/vMU7ds_WpiM/видео.html
I wish i had seen this when i first started getting into 2 handed. Great explanation. Couldnt have been done better
great tutorial thank you
Thanks for the tutorial! I've been bowling for about a year in the Kyle Troup style and I felt that it didn't fit my stiff flexibility, so I was thinking about changing my style and found a good video.
Hey This is the" BEST " video I've Seen on this style of Bowling !! I'm a Left-handed bowler ... Can you guys do a Video with an Actual Left-handed 2 handed Bowling ??
I have a good recommendation! Our buddy runs the RUclips channel The Two Handed Tour and he is an amazing two handed lefty. Go ahead and check him out!
Good video, thanks.
AWESOME..that's help me a lot..
Good video, thank you
it would have been cool to teach the release as well but really helpful video anyway thank you!
This dude would make one hell of a coach
Thanks 👍
Belmo style is the best!
Please could you do an advanced video? Like hand positions and lane play. Thanks in advance.
We are working on getting a video out about that very topic. We will try to get it out soon!
I’m 58 and just got back into bowling from a 30 year break ( 2 handers would’ve been laughed out of the house back then) but I love to watch them and am seriously considering switching my game , at least for my strike shots , not sure if I can do spares two handed or not lol. Is it ok to go 2 handed with a ball that’s got a thumb hole?
If you play in a league, they might have a problem with it. If you are playing casually, it won't make any difference to how the ball moves.
What weight bowling ball do your normally use?
great video. you look like a young ricky from trailer park boys
Take a drink every time he says ‘kinda’
hello, can anyone explain hand position of the opposite hand? does it matter, or is it just what's comfortable for the bowler? thanks in advance!
If you're a taller guy, how do you get a lower release without pulling your hamstring? seems like if I try to go any lower, I injure myself constantly. So I have very little bend, and sometimes when I release the ball it bounces. Still get pretty decent results with where I'm at right now, I just can't imagine that bounce is very good for competition.
Can you or do people do the bounce step for one handed bowlers ?
During the skip or Gallup, you should skip over a few planks? Like a side skip sorta?
You missed discussing the release. Through the ball vs around the side for hook. This is my greatest weakness.
What’s your advice for staying right of the head pin? Obviously move left but since transitioning I’ve found myself playing further left than ever. Basically throwing my shock from the gutter up 20. Took me a while to get comfortable with that lol. I see a ton of guys throw NY all night. I’ve had success with increasing my ball speed. My local houses stay pretty dry. Maybe a little weaker ball to transition into. Urethane ain’t it in a house shot.
If the problem you are facing is that you see yourself getting too far left, then I would suggest getting a weaker ball that’s not urethane or working on going more up the back of the bowling ball. A lot of times people can get caught getting too around the ball and causing it to grab the lane early. So figuring out how to consistently bring down your axis rotation and being more up the back of the ball will hopefully help you out. Of course getting your speed up even more that what you have already will also help. Hope this helps! We will be doing a video in the future about this very topic so be on the lookout for that
I have a 4 step approach, can it still work with that?
Does most of the same rules apply to a no thumber but one hander??
hi. Is it better to wear finger grip or not? and What should the finger angles be?
that’s more so a question for your pso
When I bowl Two-Handed, I hold the ball upside-down kinda, I have my middle finger where the ring finger goes and etc. I then put my middle finger in the thumb hole, and cradle the ball. Is this fine?
What would cause me to really pull the ball left?
Toe points to the right at release, rather than straight towards the pins??
Any advice on getting your right arm fully extended and elbow locked as you start the down swing I have a issue of keeping my elbow bent through the whole swing
I'd probably have to take a look at your full swing to get a good idea of what you need help on. As far as getting the arm locked into place, your best bet would be to make sure your push off step fully extends the ball away from your body. Then as you go through you approach, just letting the ball swing down and naturally bending your elbow towards the apex of the swing. You can also try the alternative style to 2 handed much like what Kyle Troup does where he doesn't bend his arm at all through the swing and keeps his arms fully extended. I suggest taking a look around RUclips and watching videos on different 2 handed styles and finding which one works best for you. Hope this helps!
@@realaverageatbest is there anyway I can message you a short video
Is the short on your channel representative of your game today or is it different nowadays?
@@realaverageatbest its somewhat different I recently switched from 5 to 4 step and my arm swing looks a little different I think
I think your main thing you need to worry about is just make sure you extend your right arm in the push off and make sure you let the ball go through the backswing in a fluid motion. Your game otherwise looks rather consistent
Is two-handed good for old people ?
Were are you looking ? What do you focus on down Lane.
I usually draw a line from the dots, through the arrows, down to where I want the ball to break off the pattern. Then, when I figure that out, I look directly at the space between the dots and the arrows through my whole approach and try to go through my imaginary line as perfectly as possible. I would recommend throwing shots until you find a method that works for you and that improves your accuracy. Hope this helps!
He's the white Carlton from fresh prince
I can't get any speed out of the ball. Am I understanding you right when you're saying that your speed is coming from the downward motion of the hopstep?
My main point is that a vast majority of your speed will come through your legs. The faster your legs move, theoretically the faster your speed is going to be. The downward motion of the hopstop is kind of an “extra boost” of speed by using the force of gravity as you come down from the hop if that makes sense
Is this at Spins Kent?!
I believe it is spins Kent, or rather twin star lanes! I know that house anywhere

I have a question, Could I do a Two Handed with a House Ball?
Yes you can.
One of my coaches says to put my thumb in, do you think that would work with two hands?
Honestly it all comes with preference. You can get along just as fine with no thumb then you can with a thumb. I would recommend trying it out and if you see yourself having better scores and an overall better release, then I would say go for it
@@realaverageatbest thanks for the advice, I'll try it out 👍
If you bowl with 2 hands would you have your ball drilled with a thumb hole or no?
Typically no
Wrap your hand all the way around the ball or you ain't doing it right
Hi, when you talk about the approach you say "there is 2 ways of doing this" id say its about infinite ways of doing it, everyone will have their own style and need to find their own style to feel comftorable , sure you should take inspiration and learn from others but you shouldnt constrict yourself into "the perfect style" . me and my brother both bowl 2 handed but we cant have more different styles.
Exactly! I only mentioned the 2 ways of doing it as I’d think of the hop stop and the normal walking approach as just two “benchmark” styles for two handed bowling. There are definitely infinite possibilities for different styles and different approaches. It’s all about finding what works for you and gets the pins to fall down the most for you
Recently went 2handed and have already increased my average by over 10 pins. Should I pull my thumb out or continue using my thumb with the 2handed throw? Is there any positive or negatives about using my thumb 2handed?
I’ll be honest, I don’t totally know the differences between the two. Of course it always comes down to a feel thing and whether it’s comfortable for you. One thing though is that you may not be able to be as versatile with the thumb in the ball then with the thumb out of the ball since it can sometimes hinder your ability to play certain hand positions. Overall I think it’s down to what works best for you. I’ve been doing 2 handed with no thumb for close to 6 years now and can say that it’s definitely more comfortable for me then with my thumb.
@@realaverageatbest thank you. I will work on both and see how they feel. Thanks for the reply. I just recently found this channel and will be back
@@2hand164difference is that you have to release your thumb at release rather than just ur 2 fingers only
I tried it and hit a front flip
size of balls
100
Kinda
I’d it against the rules to be right handed and push off with your right foot? I find myself doing it often.
I do the same thing, it just feel way better to me. I bowl better that way opposed to push off with the left
I bowl one handed and my highest is 879
I'm 56yo. How realistic is it for me to switch?
If Walter Ray could do it then I’d assume you can as well!
more revs yes more power idk

Two handed bowling looks like an out of control drunk guy who's had a few too many beers and is one "hello" away from starting a brawl.
I’ve found from the few two handed bowlers I’ve observed is they hold the ball and walk up to the line. Their dads usually have to tell them not to step over the line, and while you’re at it, tie your shoes. The bowler stands, and swings through their open legs. Bowlers usually have better scores if the foam noodles are in place in the gutters.

one handed is better
The best style is the one you’re comfortable with :)
Or bowl one handed like a man.
It’s called a crow hop
