Occurrence In the wild, it occurs in Peru and Bolivia. Appearance The female grows up to 3-4 cm of body, 10-12 cm with outstretched legs. It is one of the most interestingly colored Linothele. The carapace is all golden legs, dark navy blue, and the abdomen is black with a golden Christmas tree just like irminia. The spider, like all Dipluridae, is covered with velvety short hair, only the legs are bristly, stiff and long hairs. A characteristic feature of the whole family are very long spinners, long and relatively thin legs, as well as an elongated oval abdomen.
Yeah, a lot of fun :) What i really like about these spiders it's that they are not aggressive at all. But they are pretty fast, that is why i'm handling them only in the place where i can easily catch them in case of escape :)
Nadezhda Dubrovskaya You're lucky you have a docile specie. I have a Macrothele Gigas, and even touching her container is enough to unleash her fury with full on threat postures and strikes. She's that CRAZY!! Nice looking specimen BTW :D
***** Dude, what i think about this my own personal opinion?? I think spiders of all species and genus have their own individual personalities. Just like you and i. We all have different personalities like, I am a mean guy and you're a nice guy for a good example no joke. A lot of people say Mexican red-knee Ts are docile but, my homeboy just got tagged by one two months ago by a B. smithi just because he decided to grab its water bowl from its enclosure with his bare hands with no steel tongs to be cleaned. Do not rely on people's opinion about how docile a specie can get because, "ALL" have their own distinct personalities. It doesn't matter how docile a reputable species can get. Each individuals have their likes or nots.
***** I've heard about the M. gigas. Yes, they're pretty dangerous, very fast, and unpredictable. Not as dangerous compared to the Sidney funnel-web spider in potency but like i said before.. Each spider have a personality of its own, its all about knowing your spider, studying how it reacts to certain presence like a paintbrush or, a pair of tongs. Seems to me like all M. gigas are all hardwired to be supper defensive because there are lots of predators who probably eats this species in its own native habitat.
Hey man, I searched on the internet and can't find anything about the venum of this spider. I got one linothele megatheloides that is quite similar. Do you know something about it ??
+Pitbull64700 I believe that nobody have ever been bitten by linothele genus and so that's why we do not have a lot of information on this subject. As for me, I assume they are not very dangerous because of several reasones: 1. They are pretty small so even if they bite you they won't be able to inject a lot of venom. 2. They are not agressive (unless in their home) so it is unlikely that they are going to bite you at all. 3. The fangs are pretty small so you can easily suck the venom out in case of a bite. 4. If they were deadly, we would have known already :) Though it is better to be carefull, who knows, maybe they are like macrothele)))
Hard to compare unless he was bitten by both species?) Anyway, not deadly, no necrosis spotted and that's what matter. (At least for me) Although everyone might have the individual reaction so you can't really know whether the bite is going to be deadly for you or no. Do you know the details about why and how the bite happened? Was the spider provoked or was it a mere accident? What body part was bitten? What treatment was applied? For how long the symptoms kept showing themselves? This is important because merely saying 'it is worse' doesn't mean anything. Give us some facts.
nobody really studied its venom and it didn't bite anyone so far (or they didn't live to tell the tale, hah) But from what it is assumed, the venom is average and not deadly. Might cause some swelling, maybe cramps, fever but nothing really dangerous or even near fatal. Unless you are a todler or an elderly person.
I come from your comment in 9gag
Me three
I thought op was a girl but remembered there are no girls on 9gag.

I have a Linothele megatheloides spiderling, watching this video I can't wait until it reaches adult size, such a cool genus.
I'm simultaneously terrified and absolutely in love. It's so cute and elegant.
Wow girl, amazing
I liked it :)
No normalnie
Great video, do you know if Megatheloides are bigger than fallax?
more or less the same size
I love this clip. I have many of these and other funnelwebs but cant bring myself to handle them. Looks like fun though

Dipluridae diplura sp???
the name of the species can be seen in the title, isn't it.
It is Linothele fallax and yes, they are from Dipluridae family

Friend got bitten by an adult female. He had muscle cramps and very hard pain. Be careful with these sp.
thanks for the info) So, similar to poecilotheria or pterinochilus venom side effect, nothing new)
No, it's stronger.

Aren’t they heavy webbers?
Yeah, they are. It was the cleaning of the enclosure session thus the missing web, already cleaned up with new substrate placed :)
What about the poison effect?
What about it? *Venom, by the way. Not poison. Venom is something you inject, poison is something you ingest. Spiders are venomous.
Nadezhda Dubrovskaya How dangerous is de Poison of the Linothele fallax?
