They wouldn't have made that concept/type of songs back after their debut because they were only 19 to 15/16 years old, and this even if it's not much, is relatively mature. Their music really matured with them that's why I love it a lot ! I don't know if sincr them you listened to the bsides but the bside Closer has an mv that is a follow up to Universe if you are interested!
