I want to give you a few infos on multiple things. First even as a non army, I want to tell you that BTS do have edgy songs. Their early discography (2013-2017) is way edgier than their current one, so if you listened to recent songs it explains the image you have of them. Sadly I'm not the best to give recommendations. Now onto Epex (the first e is pronounced as the letter e), they really have a lot of different sound, so definetly do not expect anything to sound like Universe because it was their first time doing something like that (even if youth2youth is close). So if you want recent more edgy song, the bside from this album called Close has a music video and is more rocky based (not exactly rock tho). But if you want really edgy songs from them, listen to their anxiety serie, to be more exact i would recommend Full Metal Jacket, that is their hardest hitting song in my opinion. You also have Anthem of teen spirit or Lock down if you want. They also have a love serie, that is more cute/happy concept based on their first love (first crush, first relationship, first breakup). About their identity, their two first series really showcased them more individually but the youth chapter is about maturing and becoming adult so they show a more unified side. In their anxiety serie you will definetly be introduced to their rap line tho, that is really good.
