- It's been a tough couple of months for us, and we wanted to share why. We've experienced a heartbreaking loss that has changed our lives. This video is personal and was hard for us to film and edit, but we felt it was important to share our journey with you.

Following our 'steps': how did we get here?
We are Adam (North American) and Bernardo (Brazilian) and we are husbands whose paths crossed back in 2016, when we both still lived in Brazil. Since the very beginning, we shared a common passion for travel and nature, which has only grown over the years and led us to this unexpected journey on RUclips, which has allowed us to connect with an amazing community that we’re beyond grateful for. “Go out and make memories” is our motto of living and a constant reminder for us that true happiness doesn’t come from the material wealth we accumulate, but from the memories we create and share with our loved ones throughout our existence. This was an incredibly difficult video for us to put together - to go through all of those wonderful memories with Henry and the videos of all the visits to the hospital. We wanted to let you know where we've been. We wanted to let you know what's been going on and to thank you for being patient with us. I couldn’t help but tear up because I know that same particular pain of loss. I’ve got ashes and a paw print too.
You guys gave Henry his forever home, and although the time was too short, he knew he was loved the entire time. It was meant to be, and you now have such wonderful memories to cherish. The grief will slowly fade, but the fond memories will remain.
Bless you both for making Henry’s last few months the best he could have. He enriched your lives and you his.
Only 7 months? They just come into our lives and steal our hearts. You gave him the best and he gave you more.

Hardest thing I’ve ever done too! Wickett my Yorkie of 16 years and he passed away May 11, 2023. Deepest sympathy!

How kind - thank you so much. We did our best to give Henry all the love and care he deserved. Your words mean a lot to us. He deserved every bit of love but sad we didn't saw "love you" on our last physical visit with him.
Oh, Guys. My heart is breaking. Henry was beloved by so many of us. As are you. Standing with you in the grief and in gratitude.
Many years I had a Dog Rescue and now I am old and am down to the last 5. I gladly gave up having a relationship so I could work with my huge canine family 24 hours a day. No regrets. Last year my helper Bella a wonderful Border Collie passed at age 18.
Kenneth, your dedication to your canine family is inspiring. I'm looking into volunteering at our local humane society. We're sorry for your loss of Bella. Henry's memory will always stay with us. He was beyond special.

I lost the last two dogs within the last month and a half. They were so special. They were in the house for almost 14 years. They are missed so much.

Thank you for the kind words. We believe Henry's spirit will always be with us in different ways - that's why the bird nest meant a lot. We also saw many signs while he was in the hospital like the Northern Lights, many rainbows, special birds.
My deep felt condolences.
In the past 1.5 years we lost 5 of our 7 rescue dogs. We always had senior dogs, those that were not wanted anymore bc too old too sick, too traumatised and we know we are enjoying our furbabies on borrowed time.
I think Henry chose you, because you could give him undivided love and attention and he knew you both needed him, too. Henry will always be special, just like the ones that will follow him and spend their lives with you in the future.

For real I don't cry on my relatives' funerals, I am sobbing uncontrollably because someone's dog passed. Condolences by the way, we didn't need to be with you 24/7 to know that Henry was way more than a dog for you two. I'm sure he's in a better place now and will be always watching from above, taking care of you guys. Love and kisses from Brazil.
All of my dogs over the decades taught me that beyond grief there is the purity of connection. In that place, there is no loss and not one moment of feeling that something was missed within the connection. When that place is known in a lasting way, it is hallelujah.
So sorry for your loss. We have adopted 15 dogs (all abandoned) and recently lost 2 of them due to old age. But how lucky are we to have had them in our lives!
Henry came into your lives at a very difficult and vulnerable time, and the unconditional love he gave you really nourished your souls. It shows, even though you're grieving. Praying you are comforted and thanks for giving him the love, care and compassion he needed too.

A difficult video to make and a difficult video to watch, but what a wonderful tribute to your boy, Henry. During my lifetime I’ve grieved the loss of 8 dogs who meant the world to me. I can’t imagine being without a canine companion. Hopefully, you’ll find another dog when you’re ready. Now that you know how much Henry contributed to your lives, you won’t be able to resist. I used to frown whenever people referred to their dogs as emotional support. Then I got a dog, a beautiful fox red Labrador, and suddenly it all made perfect sense. She literally makes me smile every single day. So sorry for your loss. Henry was such a gorgeous dog. In your videos I could see on your faces the joy he brought to you...and the affection you gave to him.
What a gut punch, guys. My dog, also an adopted street dog, has been diagnosed with bone cancer, but unlike you guys, I've had her for 10 years. Our animals are so precious to us. The loss of man’s best friend is literally the hardest loss I’ve ever experienced!
Sorry for your loss. I had a 15 yr old chi/dachshund, Tito, who I rescued at 5 months old. He was my travel buddy, my nighttime talk buddie. At 15 yrs old he had cancer. Worst day of my life. He has been gone 5 yrs, I still miss him.
7 Months for a dog's life is a very long time. Henry had you in his life for a long while and waits for you at the Rainbow bridge
Henry was beautiful. He will live forever in your hearts. When you feel right you should get another dog because you both have so much love to give.

I'm so sorry for your loss of sweet Henry. I sobbed during this video. We lost our 16 yr old pup just over a year ago, the pain and grief is real, its losing a part of our family. Henry loved you very much, he was wagging his tail non-stop in every video. He knew you loved him, very evident in the last time you saw him, he was saying goodbye. You both are great pup dads. I am so very sorry for your loss. I was shocked how long I cried. I never had a pet, nor did my children as they grew up. My son got a golden retriever several years ago and my heart has melted. In fact, I am at their home for the next few days babysitting as they are on vacation. Love my time with her and like Henry she gives so much love! My thoughts and love your way!!

O guys, this bring me back to the loss of my 2 dogs and 2 cats. That feeling of total sadness, grief and missing them is so hard and heavy. You will find your way with dealing with those feelings more and more as time passes, but of course you always wish they would still be there. I'm wishing you lots of strength and comfort. Henry is in doggy heaven with heavenly fathers house doing what he knows best is playing eating and sleeping. One thing is there is no more pain he is free. And he is looking down on you Adam and Bernardo and the rest of the Steps family.

My two small dogs passed almost ten years ago, their photos are in our hallway, their bowls are still in our kitchen and their ashes are mixed together in an urn that is in our living room.
I still think of them almost everyday. I am so sorry for the lost of Henry, you guys are in my taughts...
Losing a beloved pet can be terribly heartbreaking. My father, not one to show much emotion, had the "worst day of my life" when he had to take our pet, at her end, to the vet on a last ride. My heart goes out to the both of you for your loss.

So very sorry to hear the passing of Henry. He was such a special and beautiful dog full of spunk. Listening to you both tell stories and show the pictures had me bawling. Thank you, Lucy. It was so important to us that Henry knew he was loved until the very end. We are sad we didn't say, "love you" when he was going back but we said it in the room. I'm sorry for your loss as well. Holding them during their final moments is both heartbreaking and a beautiful act of love. That would be extremely difficult to see.
one more thing, but April knew you were there until she went to the Rainbow Road. We felt guilty we weren't there for his final breath.

Oh gosh, I couldn’t help but teared up as I was watching this video. Henry was so young. Losing a pet suddenly so at such young age is heartbreaking. Please try to take comfort from the fact that you guys have given the best life Henry has ever had in the last 7 months of his short life. I had a similar experience when I lost my baby in 2017. He was just 8 years old. As a matter of fact, my baby looked much like Henry. He was a cockatoo, very goofy and playful. He was my shadow.

I'd like to say the feeling goes away, but it doesn't, it just gets a little easier. There is a reason why we are allowed to have these beautiful animals in our lives, because they are a source of great comfort to us. But rest assured, animals, like us, live on in the Spirit World, and will be seen again. I know some don't believe that, but it doesn't make it not true. Life itself is never ever created to be destroyed. Not even a blade of grass will go away, it just moves on to a better place, the same as we will.
He's happy, he's with other animals running around, enjoying his time, and will know when you pass from this life to the other.
My heart goes out to both of you. I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a family pet. It's been over 12 years since my dog passed and there are times I feel I'm still not over his loss. All I can say is that time heals all wounds.

Dog can be very perceptive when they are calm. Henry perceived your kindness and big hearts and decided you guys were his people. You gave him what he sought and he gave you what you sought even, when you didn't know consciously you were seeking some of it at the time. Henry and you all gave each other great blessings. Wow. I am so sorry about Henry. I completely relate as we have a cattle dog named Wylie who is so important to us and our relationship. I can just imagine the pain. Sending kind wishes. Know that the greatest gift we can give our furry friends is a loving home, and the second is knowing when to let them go.

You were such wonder dads for Henry. You were very blessed to have him in your lives, and he was blessed, as well, to have you in his.

I am very sorry for your loss guys, I have also lost some puppies. It feels horrible, saying goodbye to them is not easy, then you understand that they come into our lives to make us happier, they fulfill their mission and then they leave us. So feel happy that you had nice memories with him. Another puppy will arrive later to brighten their lives again, and they will love him too.
Bernardo and Adam, my 3 wolves 🐺 and I send our deepest condolences to both of you for your loss in your pack. We also endured loss with our 16 yr old alpha of our pack. After several trips back & forth from work for a couple months, pureeing food & feeding him, as many said here on here he crossed over that rainbow bridge on 4/12/2024. I took his body home and dug a hole in my backyard and buried him. Couldn’t afford to cremate him. This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to reflect on that day. Thank you for sharing this private moment from you both to all of us. Like mine, Henry will be missed.
My dog got sick and died. I couldn't keep anything around of my dog. I still cry

I think Bernardo was right when he said you two needed him and he needed you. You gave him the best life he could have possibly had. The gifts Henry gave you, and you gave him, go beyond human understanding and are immeasurable. Treasure the memories of your time together.
This news hits especially hard to me right now because I have some very dear friends who also just lost there less than 1 year old dog. Their dog had a complete liver shut down that the vets said he could not recover from.
We are so sorry for your loss, it’s never easy to loose a pet. Give it some time, your hearts will heal and maybe a new member of the family will happen.❤❤
