This is a great informative video, although not very beginner friendly. This is definitely for someone who at least has basic knowledge of InDesign. I literally just downloaded it today.
You are awesome and so are your videos. They give me hope to not give up on my passions and try and make time for me to learn what I have a true desire for. ❤️
Thank you for this video. I am interested in doing a handbound planner and journal service in my country and learning how to use InDesign just look so daunting to me. Your channel is really inspiring ❤
Thank you so much for this! This is just my second lesson in InDesign, and compared to the other lesson (from someone else), you saved me a TON of time by teaching to use Character Styles!
Hello love the video and I’m interested in starting my own business where I live. But I’m interested in knowing for instance where you source your covers and gold spirals that support them as seen in the thumbnail. Also which month package subscription do you think would meet the needs of creating planners, notebooks things of that sort ?
Hi There Kydiesia Dennis : Thanks for much for watching & commenting. That's great that you're interesting in starting your own business. I source my covers and spirals from various places so it really depends on if you're going to DIY everything at home and in what size quantities or if you are going to go with a professional printer and in what country. That will really determine the best vendor option for your materials and production. As for your other question on the package subscription, I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. You can create annual, quarterly and undated planners. I've never heard of a notebook subscription. Hope that helps. XOXO Lisa
Your tutorials are soooo helpful, thank you. I wondered if you might film a tutorial, or point me in the right direction, to figure out how to lay out multiple pages per sheet with crop marks. For example, if I design a daily page in pocket size and want to lay out four pages per sheet with crop marks. I’ve searched and searched and can’t find a way to do it!
Thanks so much for watching. You mean like cut lines in the corners as guides for the planners you can put through a manual paper slicer? Or crop marks for a Silhouette or Cricut?
It took me forever to find a video like this! This was really helpful! Thanks! I'm having trouble finding your "metal tutorial," and do you have any tutorials on how to create the covers for these planners? Like the cover, and splitting the pages in two? I'm pretty confused about that. And when I try to export the pages, it exports it into separate pages, but isn't it supposed to be one page to upload onto good notes? =/
Hi, thank you so much for the teaching. is there a way I could get access to the step by step process. I keep signing up but didn't get anything through the post. Thank you
This was suuuuppeeerr helpful! I just had a quick question, is there a way to make the graph boxes bigger all at once like if I wanted to remove those bottom fitness and quote boxes and make it all a timetable but without having to add additional rows? Thank you!
Hi Karla: You can select all the boxes you would like to re-size and then drag and drop one of them which should affect all of the boxes at once. Hope that helps! XOXO Lisa
In designing this planner, like for February 01 to 07, do I start the week's day with the corresponding date for that month? like for February, 1 to 7 is Saturday to Friday or I should just go with the normal Monday to Sunday for Every Week not minding the month's starting day of the week.
Hi Kipe: Yes, that's right. You should definitely ignore the start date of the month when it comes to a weekly layout. I just guesstimate which week should go into which month. It's not an exact science so whatever you pick will work out great! XOXO Lisa
Love your tutorials. I have also completed 75% of your Planner101 course and want to continue with Planner201, 202 etc. However as a SAHM it would be easier for me to purchase them separately but your website is currently only showing purchase availability as a bundle. Can I purchase them individually at all?
Hi, thank you for the tutorial! If I made the journal using indesign, how can I save it and with what apps/ways can I open it? For example if I save it and want to put jot down something, do I need to open indesign every time or is it another easy way?
Hi Aii: Glad you liked it! From within Adobe InDesign you can save it as a PDF or JPEG and then open it in any application that can open those types of files. But to "write on it" or "annotate it", you'll need a program that can do that like GoodNotes on your iPad Pro or Adobe Acrobat Professional. But to make changes to the file itself you can only do that in Adobe InDesign. The other examples I gave you only allow you to write on top of it. Hope that makes sense.
I see.. thank you very much! I definitly will try this! Adobe Acrobat Professional can be installed to android? Is there any other option to "write on it"?
I'm not familiar with Android but I found this list online when I googled it www.slashgear.com/best-note-taking-apps-for-android-phones-and-tablets-04529297/
I bought the planner for in design but I dont understand how to set up the print set up so that they print out correctly. I sent an email a few days ago but didnt hear back so I thought this might be a better place to get an answer in advance.
hi there lisa, if I am thinking of creating a new line of planners to eventually market and sell. Could I print these pages to have a physical planner?
Hi Maseba: That's great - you should definitely create planners and this is the perfect time of year to start doing so! You can print out any of the planner templates in my shop and start creating physical planners right away! Did you sign up for my FREE course on how to create planners lisasiefert.thinkific.com/courses/Planner-101 That will definitely help, too! XOXO Lisa
Pretty Fabulous Designs it is in the print setting some where lol forgot as I not on my computer at the moment. Now gotta figure out what margin for travlers notebook as I like to after I fold I like to cut the edge off so the be all same length. Dont like them uneven after u fold all the paper.
I would like to see how to print and cut these. Pages as for the first page that you left blank would that be on the back of the spread you made you planner on? I'm sorry hard to explained what I'm trying to say.
Hi Sophie: I'm using Adobe InDesign which you can get at clk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=264355&a=3013964&g=23567482 and I have a free course on how to get started with it at programs.prettyfabulousdesigns.com/indesign-101/buy Hope that helps! And they all work on a MacBook Pro XO Lisa
Hi Gina: Yes, I do! I have a separate lesson every page in the planner: annual, weekly, monthly, daily, covers, intro pages, etc. Are you going to sign up!! Lisa
Hi Nicole: I do not teach how to create digital planners for the iPad Pro in the course yet. That might be something I add for 2019. Stay tuned! XOXO Lisa
Question, is there a way to add photo backgrounds to the pages? I did the place and got image but resizing the image and changing the image color, I could not find option to do that. When I drag the corners to size, it cuts out most of the image?
Yes, it's super easy. Step 1) Place your photo background on the page to the size + position you want it at and then Step 2 ) Arrange to send it to the back so it is beneath the other layers and looks like a background.
Hi Zeenat: You actually have 2 options - 1) You can create dot grid pages yourself using Adobe InDesign ruclips.net/video/Zh49w7Bl618/видео.html or 2) You can use the pre-made dot grid templates inside of GoodNotes. XOXO Lisa
It's still totally available - I'm just having some hosting/Wordpress issues this week. They should be resolved soon and then I'll let everyone know who opted in for the cheatsheet where to find it!

Hi Zoe: It's coming soon!! I am migrating hosting providers this week so everything is in flux but it should be up and working (hopefully - fingers crossed) by next Monday. I've been told the DNS propagation can take anywhere from a few minutes to 7 days and Monday will be the end of 7 days.

Hi Chara: Once you save the file out as a PDF, you can open it on any device that can read a PDF file. But the actual lesson is taught using Adobe InDesign which is an application for the desktop. XOXO Lisa
Hi Hailey: Do you mean - that it does not visually look like that when you viewed it in Indesign the software application or when you physically printed them at home? XO Lisa

Got it! Great - I'll add it to the list for future video topics.
Great, looking forward to it! I know there are a lot of people in the planner community who would be interested 😊
