I agree. I love this tutorial. Seeing this 7/26/2023. The other tutorials I've seen have been long and tedious. Your tutorial is simple, straight-to-the-point, and I love the black and white stripe theme.
Beautiful planner! Another thing you can use in place of chipboard is a cereal box. When I needed chipboard shapes as a paper crafter, we just double layered a cutout from a cereal box and it matched the thickness of chipboard, perfectly! Just cover one side with white paper or some pretty patterned paper to further customize the inside. 😊
+Kim Muhl That's a great idea Kim, thank you so much for sharing! I actually really want to try to make a hard bound cover for my disbound, but the chipboard is too thick to be punched with my Arc punch, so a cereal box may work!!
You are amazing! You have no idea how long I've searched for a tutorial on making a hardcover notebook that is actually cute & professional looking. I'm so glad I found your channel. Thank you so much for sharing this and I will be sure to share my project with you when it's done!!!
OMG!!!! I want to cry lol I have been looking for a tutorial/video like this FOREVER!!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you X 1000
You have become my new mentor. I actually wish you were my mother, sister, or at the very least my sister-in-law. I cannot thank you enough for actually digging deep and showing detailed information ... in a very quick, and professional way. It is my sincerest wish that you continue to share your journey. I listen closely and take notes to every word that comes out of your enthusiastic mouth. You are truly the best!
I really appreciate you taking the time to do this tutorial and especially giving the measurements for the cover and inserts. That is what I struggled with the most.
All day today, I was searching and searching for a DIY planner/journal. May many more blessings come your way ahead because you have blessed me with my search. Thank you for sharing Alexis. I can't thank you enough
Yours is so cute!!! I bought a ream of paper meant for resumes. Nicer than plain copy paper but not as heavy as card stock. (Less than $10.) It is a dream to write on!! I printed my planner pages. Cut my "covers" and dividers out of cereal boxes, and took it to my local Office Depot. They punched it and inserted the spiral binding for about $6. I also had them punch about 30 extra pages just in case I want to print extra inserts. I can still take out the spiral and rearrange the pages if I want to. The spiral twists out easily. Then after adding pages or making change, I use a small screwdriver to line up the first holes, start inserting the coil, move the screwdriver to the 4th hole, keep inserting/twisting in the spiral, move the screwdriver down to about the 8th hole, keep twisting in the spiral, etc and voila.... in a short minute it is all put back together. For less than $10 I have enough paper to make at least 5 years' worth of planners. And at $6 a year for the hole punching and spiral, it is super affordable.
Aloha, I know this video was in 2015. But thank you so much for keeping it up. This was the most informative video... I wanted to order a custom journal because I do daily devotions and wanted ladies to share what they had learn unto a journal. They don't have companies that will do a custom order in bulk and when they do it's not what you want. I was able to create my own inserts to fit my project and walk through your step by step. My first time watching you, I thought perfect I got it. When I end up making my first trial boy was it blessed... lool.. I had the other side on the side. I ended watching the finish part of your video again.. had a AHA moment.. and waaaalah it is finally completed. A masterpiece. Thank you and Thank you God for you.. Awesome tutorial. I will post a video soon... heheheheh.. I am so happy with the finish results
This tutorial is amazing! I was looking for a homeschool planner for multiple children that I could modify but nothing suited my needs. With this tutorial I can create my own year after year. Thank you so much you're awesome!
Hiiiiiii! I love your channel. After watching you a made a medical planner for my bipolar! It took me forever but your videos took about 10 hours of work off my plate
I've been designing and printing my planners for awhile. I just been using a three ring binder however, I'm getting ready to go live in a van down by the river so printing pages isn't going to be as easy! I'm going to do a six month test to see how it works! I want to add a spiral so I don't lose pages if I drop it! I'm thinking it would also fit perfectly in the pocket in the door or behind the seat.
This was inspiring! I have been thinking about making my own planner for a while now. I make printables for binders (like almost every year). I like to stay organized and I find that a lot of the planners that I find don't have what I need in one planner. It's a little frustrating at times. Recently I have been thinking about making a planner for mass production. As a student and someone who works and tries to juggle social life and life at home while also trying to stay healthy ALL AT THE SAME TIME, it is essential for me to have certain things in a planner. I want to give this to other people who are also trying to do the same. Making my own planners saved my grades and helped me stay in shape (and sane)!
Wow, and here it is in 2022, I have been doing research for quite some time and just new there was a better way to make hard covers without thousands of $$$ and I finally found this gem, thank you.
This is the most detailed video that shows step by step even the computer part and the machine part that I would give a good rate number too and actually I'm going to try your idea because it seems amazing.... And good luck on your businesses
I would totally buy this!! I've always had a planner but I never knew there was a whole community! I just bought my first kikki k in medium and I'm already thinking it's too small but I'm going to stick to it. I've already bought your insert and love them! You're truly amazing. Keep up the great work!
I so enjoyed watching this video! Thank you for GREAT content. Before watching your channel, I thought of just using a notebook.... lol. Now I will try and create my own personal binder. I'm looking forward to seeing more content. Thanks
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this and I am watching this in 2021! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! And a big thank you for sharing your product links and free items! I can't wait to make one for myself! And a few for my girls!
Very nice tutorial!! I am working on designing my own personal planner so I try to watch everyone's ideas. I have designed my own calendar and plan to use Paper Leather for the cover so I can use some of my artwork. I wanted to use my Cinch with chipboard covers, and I still might. I also wanted to include several of the pocket pages. I think making the pockets using a very sturdy material is something to think about. Your video was very well done and I appreciate you sharing your work.
This video is the type of video that is worth saving to any aspiring businesswomen!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE FULL LIST in the description box. I didnt even skip ads. ☺️
Hi Alexis, wow great DIY, your planner is great better than what we by in store. You are so sweet to share that with us, that would make great Christmas gift. The problem I have is the people I would give them to are French. Thank you so much dear Alexis and have a great week also Mike and Starbuck. Hugs. Francine
If we don't have sticker paper to print on are we able to print out our front and back cover pages on regular paper and maybe glue it down? and then seal? Or how would you go about making a planner cover without sticker paper with the chip board? Thanks so much in advance!
Hello. Thank you so much for this video! Can I ask what kind of printer are you using. Or can you suggest a good printer that can accomplish what you're doing that's not too expensive? Ty
This was so helpful! Thank you for taking us through the process. Other videos don't even show how they make the front and back cover so I've always been looking for concrete ideas for it. This video SAVED ME! LOVE THE VIDEO LOVE YOU AND I'M DEF SUBSCRIBING!
Awesome video, thanks so much for this hard-to-find information! Very well done indeed. As for the Cinch, great tool but for the price, why on earth wouldn't they make it a bit wider/longer to accommodate such a standard project size? All that second punching wouldn't be necessary. In spite of it, your binder turned out amazing. You have a really good eye for precision work. Thanks again!
Chané joining from Grand Cayman - this video introduced me to the Cinch & I was hooked since. It was also so nice (informative & relaxing) I had to watch it twice! My only query, what was the size of the end result planner?
Hi Alexis, I found your video in desperation after a long search. Thanks for this video, it's great and you explain things very well. I love the end product.
Alexis, Once again this is spectacular!! I am sharing with the groups that I am in and with my friends. This would make a terrific holiday gift. You give so much of your time to us. So thank you thank you. Have a great day!!
+Robyn Mizell I'm so glad you enjoyed the video lady and thank you so much for that tip on the Target pens! You're such a great support to me and my community! Have a Happy Thanksgiving this week xx
I can't thank you enough for sharing this video! You're amazing. I've watched this through so many times today! I have to ask, can you please show how you made your designs for the covers? I know they are simple and look straightforward, but I'd love to know the programs you used. And you explain things really well, so it'd be a big help. I hope to hear back from you! Thank you, Stephanie Beaulieu
Q: I’m starting a journal business and can’t figure out what size to print my covers. What size did you print here so that it was enough to cover all the sides?

Hi. I'm trying to learn how to make my own diy planner for the first time and I came across your channel. Thanks so much for this. The biggest problem that I had with this is getting my sticker paper on correctly. On my second try I didn't cut the paper first and it seemed to work better for me, especially for the thickness of my chipboard.
Hi, may I know what u mean by 28lb 98 bright paper? I see your paper is high in quality and interested to use the same as well but i only know gsm measurement instead of lb and bright paper(?)
Thank you for this! I’m so late 2022 😆, not even sure if you’ll read this mess but I would love to know what program and how you create the planner with? ❤️
This was the simplest, most cost effective and fun tutorial I've seen. Love it. I may be late but it's my go-to for 2020 and I'm excited for 2021.
I’m late too but I am also excited for 2021. Looking forward to customize a planner with everything I need🤗
I’m reading this 2022 bro 20/20 ain’t fun
@@love.delaneyy I agree, 2020 was terrible

Someone said, "your planner looks like a box of cinnamon toast crunch!" Me, "yep, 'cause that's what it is!" 🤣
Can you show me how to print? I made my design in Indesign and while printing I couldn’t figure out how to line up the pages

Beautiful planner! This was such a great breakdown. Thank you for showing us the steps!
What software do you use for making your planners? How did you get monthly calendar on two pages? I’m trying to put together my own. Thanks
Love the planner I know this is an old upload but how would you add tab dividers for the months?
Chané joining from Grand Cayman - this video introduced me to the Cinch & I was hooked since. It was also so nice (informative & relaxing) I had to watch it twice!
My only query, what was the size of the end result planner?
Hi Alexis, I found your video in desperation after a long search. Thanks for this video, it's great and you explain things very well.

Can't wait to try this!!! What type of aerosol is similar to modgepodge
This looks like a great machine! Thanks for sharing the tutorial Alexis.
+Claire AKA Claireabellemakes You are very welcome!
Hi - loved this! do you have a video for designing the planner!
Hi! Just wondering if the spiral rings are standard size or does "cinch" require you to buy the rings from them?
Wow, at first I was only wanting to get to the binding portion but you have such great tips! Thank you!
I love this...if I wanted to modify the design with something else....say the LV logo...how could I achieve that...and how would I go about creating my own design for calendar by the month....January through December...it's for my Louis Vuitton GM...please help

You're so talented!! Thanks for sharing all the resources!!
+Cora Dugan You are very welcome xx
Heyy !! I just got hyped over spiral notebooks and I’m really looking up to buy the cinch just so I can make my very own spirals notebook.
EXACTLY what I am looking for. Thank you
Ms Trenchcoat, have you ever taken an old spiral notebook type and remade it to a new book. I don't want to lose all my notes or have to recopy them. Front of book is worn out at spiral....thanks
How do you set up your pages so that 2 print on one letter size paper? I will be doing the same size you did.
Ahhh!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this 💕💕 I was looking for a machine that did this and was surprised how cost effective this one was! Excited to try this out :)
Thank you I LOVE this! Are you printing the inserts on printer paper or card stock or can either one work?
Hi. I'm trying to learn how to make my own diy planner for the first time and I came across your channel. I wanted to know where you purchased the cinch bindery tool because it wasn't listed at the end of the video. It looks like this tool is about $93.49 and I was looking to see where you got yours.
5 second in and I love your energy.
Best video on RUclips! Thank you!
I love your video and I have a question for you. Did you Mod Podge the insides of the covers as a way to secure the ends of the sticker? Hope that makes since.
Thank you , why don’t u have more subscribers? Because you should ! Love it
Thank you so much, I am going to try and make my own!
Wow! The value you give. Thank you.
OMG!!!! Love this! I can't wait to make one.
LOVE THIS! I will definitely be giving this a try. I would like to see one with a way to put a binder elastic to hold it closed when not being used.
Wow! This is super fancy :) Looks awesome and smart idea- there's always little things about planners that I wish would be different.
+The Donoghs This is why I love the DIY route!
I absolutely love this video TTHHHAANNNKKK YYOUUUU!!!! But i have one question if your cover page is A5 what are your regular pages size?
Thank you for this! I’m so late 2022 😆, not even sure if you’ll read this mess but I would love to know what program and how you create the planner with? ❤️
