I like the fake door on Degroot keep that reveals computer systems and other modern equipment behind it, hinting that mideval mode isn't as medieval as you think.
Those doors were on my list of possible doors to talk about. In the end I decided against putting them on the list because the interesting part was the computer equipment being there and not the door itself. If the list was top-20 they would probably take a spot.

The gallows door has the hinges on the wrong side meaning if it were to be opened as fast as a normal trap door the person being hung would be launched backwards

My favourite doors are the out of bounds doors that hint at mvm? A soldier would guard these doors, inside would be a spy looking confused at a map of an mvm map, or the scout and some other class I forgot looking at pictures of mvm robots depending what room it was. I'm bad at explaining, but watch boundary break and a certain segment which I think is about foundry will tell you about it

Trapdoors for people to fall through are obviously meant to swing down, but the position of the hinges on the trapdoor in coal town strongly suggest that it swings up. If that area is meant to gallows that may be a design error.
The restroom doors was actually a reference to TF2's Hat Culture and the old hat segregation eras of the 1800's-1900's when Hatted people are seen as superiour to non-hatted people. Hatless people are often called as "Poor" and "Irish" (as hinted by the towering pillar of hats). It's the best bit of TF2's lore and I often used to describe my hatted nature a lot back when the game was much more calmer and less competitive in nature :D

Awesome video! I remember having a thought about something similar a few years after I started playing TF2. I noticed a few of the ceilings in badwater were really pretty (at least to me) and how it was a shame most players missed out on this because of how rare it is for people to actually look up. I feel its these types of easily overlooked details that really add extra layers of charm to maps, creating new depths that might take years for people to notice and appreciate, if they ever notice at all. Thank you for making this video, it has taught me to appreciate doors in the same way I appreciate ceilings.
No joke the fake doors/entryways in the first BLU respawn on dustbowl (the mine shaft), as well as the majority of the third CP on dustbowl (buildings near the rocket) gave this map SO MUCH LIFE.
Got an idea for a top 9 list: Top 9 Loadouts that change the class the most. Basically, each loadout change as much about the playstyle of the class that if it wasn't for the class model, you couldn't tell it was them.
The best door of all is probably the fake slightly open door wear you can see Ms. Pauling's office and her in the chair working. It bring way more life to the game.

Never really thought about this, but probably my favorite fake door is the one in mvm_bigrock. In the spawn, there's a glass set of doors that leads into a room where the hall is decorated with saxxy awards standing on their own podiums, with even more hallways that seems to lead to more places in the building compared to the seemingly tiny spawn room. With such an large and open view, it makes you wonder what else is in there, if only you weren't obstructed by the glass doors.
This is almost like a video I wish I would make of top best out of bounds areas. Like how in Borderlands 2 you can glitch out of the main city hub area and unto a massive empty field that's still given collision for some reason. In TF2 there's tons of small area with not only collision rendered ground on even the bumped normals, but they also have lots of content plus they're so massive and designed in such a way that you get a strange feeling, almost like a satisfying urge to mod the map and make it possible to go there, maybe even expand and develop it into a bigger part of the map. One of my favorites is pl_Upward. Not only is the docks and boat in the distance a cool background, but right below is what looks like traversable canyons that you just want to explore. Same on Hightower, it's narrow but it looks so much fun.
