@@IncognitoJohnDoe So sick of arguing this point. Having a child call you 'dad' even though you are not her biological father is what matters. Can you not 'father' a child without ever being in that childs life? Are you not still that childs father? Being a dad takes way more than 30 minutes with her mom.
When my exes oldest daughter called me Dad I almost cried, even though her mother and I are not together, I've still maintained that relationship with her and been a father figure in her life that she needs. Now she's going to be 21 soon. I've known her since she was 1 year old.
As selfish it is for wanting this.. I hope my step daughter asks me for this. She called me it by mistake once.. Made my heart melt.. She even asked me if I was crying.. I quickly denied it. But I want that feeling everyday
It s some rewarding to get accepted as a stepdad. I have 3 stepdaughters now. So it makes 4 in total. These ladies make the best part of my life ..this together with their mom , my other half 😊
I was in tears watching this. As a man, there is no greater honor than for a kid to want you as their dad. That teenager will grow up knowing what a real man is and be able to make healthy choices. And a real man is not the John Wayne/Rambo Hollywood myth that perpetuates violence. Our culture does not provide healthy mentors for either boys or girls and we wonder why kids behavior is over the top. The problem is parents who weren’t properly parented themselves, not taught boundaries or given guidance, cannot be good parents. Much respect, love and appreciation to this man for stepping up and showing these young girls what a dad and male role model is.
Her mother got a husband and she got a father. I don't know the circumstances of her biological father, but any guy who sticks around for both the good and the bad is a dad!
That flood of emotion happened to me only once, (I have 2 daughters thankfully as well) but it was when our 15 year old dog passed. Feeling blessed having daughters, after growing up with just brothers...and now with 7 grandchildren.
My stepdad came into my life 43 years ago when I was a loud, over active 6 yr old. I reacted like the classic child rejecting him. I was a handful growing. Never with police but just a pain in the arse. His response was one of dignity and eternal patience. Finally at 19 I took my head out of my backside long enough to appreciate him. His patience with me, a difficult and at times ungrateful child and teenager. Demonstrating what it means to be a man. A hardworking, decent, dignified man that lead by example. Treating my mother with respect at all times. Whilst at the same time, showing me and my brother what it takes to be a true man. He died suddenly 3 years ago from pancreatic cancer. From diagnosis to his passing was only 3 months. In that moment of loss and feeling of not being able to cope. My brother and I spoke and realised he had left us the lessons and tools to deal with his passing. By carrying on as a family. Being there for each other and striving to do the right thing every day. We never called him dad. It was always Dave. But he is our true father and dad. We love him and miss him. And speak about him all the time. Thank you Dave. We love you:) xx
My parents adopted two little darlings when I was 21 yrs old. They both are more like my own kids than siblings. They lost their parents in a car crash. These two were 2 and 1 yr old , when it happened. They both call me Dad, and not my parents who adopted them, lmao. Yes, I love them to the core. They both are my life.
Children can't choose their parents.. more so their step-parents. Growing up with an abusive step-father, I've always envied girls with fathers/step-fathers that loves and cherishes them. I grew up scared, alone, reserved, untrusting.. My mom says we used to have fun times but I cried to her stating I don't have memories of them. When they finally got divorced almost 30 years later, my mom came to me crying and told me she was "so sorry" that she didn't give me the chance to choose or accept him as my step-father. That she automatically just wanted him to be my father unconditionally. If you're planning to introduce a potential mother/father figure to your child, don't force a connection.
being a step parent is a extreme challenging thing for stepkids, i just wished some ppl took it more seriously by being more patient with the kids getting to understand them rather than forcing parental rights onto them.
Now beautiful fairy tales like these dont come around very often in this old broken world of ours. But, when tales like these do, your eyes fill up with tears as there is nothing more beautiful than kids having a dad who cares about them (even if he is not biological)
When my parents got married (when I was 7) my (step)dad had a part in his speech for me where he pulled me to the front, gave me a ring he had made for me, and asked if he could have the honor of being me dad❤ I said yes, but I had to wait until I was 18 for him to legally adopt me. This will never happen to me. I'm fortunate to have found my 'forever girl' and we're stupid happy together, but we don't have children. That being said, I can't think of greater honor. No award, no medal, no recognition, no applause, nothing would matter as much as a child asking you to be their dad. I mean, talk about being humbled and filled with pride at the same time....
Parenting has nothing to do with DNA. Thats her dad. He will be there through the happy times and hold her when her heart breaks. He will be there for every milestone and will be one proud dad. He will walk her down the isle one day as he gives her away. If she has a child, he will be there for her and to welcome his grandbaby into this world. Thats what will make him a dad.
