  • "Tebowmania" is in full swing for the 7-5 Broncos, who have won five in a row with their quarterback's last-minute heroics, as they host the Caleb Hanie-led 7-5 Bears, who hope to avoid losing their third straight.

I was a contractor for one of the hospital networks in Colorado Springs and Denver. Every quarter they would analyze the amount of ER visits, what caused the visits (car accidents, injuries, etc.) and kept track of the statistics. During the 2011 Bronco season, they noticed there was an uptick in heart and stress related issues on Sundays at the ER. It took them a few weeks to figure out that people were coming in to the ER right after the Bronco game because they were experiencing heart issues after watching Tebow and his last minute heroics.

Or it was because he recognized that Denver would have been losing a lot of these games like the Patriots playoff game if it didn't have one of the best defenses in football - because it had a completely incompetent quarterback on the field for the majority of the game? Tebow gets infinitely too much credit and this defense gets almost none for a playoff run.

@@uselessidguy331 I have been a fan of the Broncos and Bears (1 and 1a) since I was little. I don't live in their market so I don't get to watch many of their games unless they are the Game of the Week. During those 8 weeks of Tebow Time, I couldn't understand why John Elway took the stance he did, that he wasn't sold on Tim being their starting quarterback. I mean, Tim was finding ways to win games, right? Well, then I got to watch a few whole games, and how Tim played outside Tebow Time. Yeah, it wasn't pretty. He was downright ugly at times. Go watch those late season games against the Bills and Chiefs, and the playoffs loss to the Patriots. That is what the future would have looked like with Tim Tebow as their quarterback.
Now, that being said, I appreciate the contributions he made to the team and will always rememberthem fondly. It's unfortunate that things didn't work out, but that's life. It was fun while it lasted, but it was only going to get ugly if they'd kept him around.

He really wasn't. Denver would have lost a lot of these games by 14+ points because of how poorly Tebow played for 85% of his time on the field if it didn't have a top-5 defense holding the line.

@@jenspetersen5865 Man those were crazy too. I think this stands out due to how many lucky things happened in order for the comeback to occur. 59 & 58 yrd field goals, Barber running out of bounds to stop clock, and fumbling in over time. All that when the game was supposed to be over. Craziness.

@@StarAmbience42 I must admit that the Miami game was more extreme to me as we should have had 10 points in the Bears game and only 6 in the Miami game by the time Great Tebow showed up. Against Bears Prater had missed a short field goal and Thomas had let a perfect pass go through his hands on the 5 yard line and totally open. In Miami Prater had missed two short FGs so er had to rely on a punt recovery.
4th Q by Tebow in the Bears game was just insanely good and the bad parts were more on drops than TT.
I would have loved to see what Tebow could have become with better coaching, because I will always consider Fox lousy. Given the critisism on Tebow it is quite amazing that he is one of only 3 QBs that have had a winning record with Fox.

@@StarAmbience42 I think the thing that did Tebow in was not his play or ability, as anyone with a struggling club should have loved to take a flyer on someone that for all his flaws did something VERY special in the NFL. The groups that hated or loved him for things that had nothing to do with football, were just a toxic mix. Tebow was not a sure thing, and because of the love/hate the only winning hand for a FO that used him would be if he came in and had undeniable success - and I mean at least getting to a AFCC/NFCC game. The haters would have FO fired for hiring an obvious looser and the ones that loved him would have the FO fired if they did not play TT irrespective of whether he was as good as we saw in flashes in Denver or as bad as we saw for stretches

Marion Barber man; that season there were like 5 3pm-430PM Redzone must see Tebow comebacks, but seemed EVERY time the other team handed it to them. Marion Barber fighting for that extra yard giving Broncos another stopped clock. We all laughed together at a friend's house having seen a few of these already. Every time there was a TD the opposing defense coach had gotten bored of covering and sent an all out blitz...In the case of the Jets Tebow just ran for it with the Jets in the backfield he just vacated. And the Steelers, who can forget the cover 0 blitzes; the final one in OT; man coverage means Demarius Thomas slanting in is basically a TD. Nobody could stick to sound coverage after 3 completions and 7 Inc for 3 quarters.
