Many of us don't remember his great babyface singles run and his great tag team run with Tito Santana but we do remember the Model and how great he was as a heel. This proves he is a generational talent. He was so good at what he did and so many of us feel he should be honored for it.

He was a total workhorse and arguably the best TV guy they had. Watching a lot of tapes he's almost regularly in the best match of the night week after week. The Jake Roberts blindfold match is one of the coolest, most creative gimmick matches in Mania history and I believe he was the first guy to go crazy long in the Rumble (51 minutes) back in 91... it just got overlooked by Flair going full on wire to wire the next year. He was a spectacular character though. I'm surprised he didn't at least get a brief reign with the Intercontinental Championship or something.
Rick Martel definitely deserves the term "underrated" in all its positive meaning. He was a great babyface as a tag-team wrestler, and he was an even better heel with his "The Model" gimmick. His appearance on "The Brother Love Show", asking Bruce Pritchard to hand the blind man's cane to Jake Roberts was priceless. Or him and HBK squaring off at Wrestlemania, trying not to hurt each other's faces... Hilarious.
That match with HBK is underrated on its own. Dispute the gimmicky no hitting in the face thing both could work abs had a great match on overall Wish we had gotten more from those two and a intercontinental title run for Martel
I remember going to a house show before the Mania blindfold match at the University of Illinois where they did that blindfold match almost as a dry run and being before cell cameras and wide use of the Internet they could get away with it knowing that it would be hard to get the footage out to give away anything. Anyways Martel used the perfume but it backfired and Roberts one. Was fun to see at a house show.

I just think of hearing this song live at WrestleMania 6 the first entrance music played that day to an excited kid being me attending his first-ever wrestling event with music being played. I attended a house show in Niagara Falls in January before WrestleMania April and then something must have been wrong with the public audio speaker and what not because they could not play entrance themes so hearing this for the first time Life after this seeing it on TV for so many times and how loud it got in the Skydome method I don't think I blinked once that entire day thank you Dad. You were in my life that much growing up I understand that you suffer from addiction but you did what you could and you would took me to WrestleMania 6 we drove the Toronto for the weekend from Buffalo it was one of the best memories I will ever and it involves you I can still remember every detail about that weekend. The WWF themes were some of the greatest music ever especially for me as a big Wrestling fan and a child in the 80s. The themes all had that signature saxophone in them, which made them stand out.

Happy to hear the real version of this theme, as opposed sadly to the one we got on the Uncaged III album. Will always remember it fondly, the character, and his neverending feud with Tito Santana after they broke up at WrestleMania V. A lot of people only remember Rick Martel in WWE he had a career before where he was AWA champion
Before the AWA title he had a great WWF run where he and Tony Garea won the tag team titles twice.
How is this man still not in the WWE HOF? Martel was a star both in and outside of the WWE.
Probably would have made a great Intercontinental Champion but he had the misfortune of being in the WWE at the same time as Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect.

No matter how HD you can go, this theme will always sound like it's being played on an AM frequency with a towel covering the speaker.

Was the AWA world champion in the mid 80's.
Not as The Model, but he did hold the WWF tag titles on three separate occasions: Twice with Tony Garea, and once with Tito Santana. If you count his run in WCW, he also held the TV title.
AWA world title, which was at roughly the same level as WWF back then in terms of title recognition. So he is, in fact, a former world champion.
