This channel is an absolute goldmine for the caracter/creature artist. I LOVE IT . I am really speechless about the quality of this content. Do you might have a Discord Community? I would love to join.
Hey thanks great Harry, thanks for the kind words! I do have a Patreon, where I provide some monthly art feedback, and it does have a Discord attached to it. It's been a bit quieter recently as I've been working on a long contract job, but I'm about to release a whole bunch of new RUclips content and intend for my Patreon to kick back into motion now too!
Highly underrated channel
Thanks Byn! Uploading some more stuff VERY soon, I look forward to seeing your reaction.
Just discovered your channel and I love it. Come back man! We need more!
Thanks Ugg! I actually have a LOT of stuff about to drop - the next one as soon as a few days from now! In January I'm starting a monthly series that's going to be off the hook, I think you will enjoy. Thanks again for the comment and the sub!

Best Teacher out there
Awww thanks Jonah!
Came from your Reddit, so glad I came across your Dragon Priest masks and thus this channel! I'm not so much an artist as a crafter, but this makes me itch to pick up some pencil and paint again!
Yay thank you Merry! Thanks for joining, watching, and getting a little inspiration. I've got some videos in the works that I think you'll really enjoy!
Saw you commenting on Reddit about a video in the making. Now I'm excited to watch it.
Also you nailed the giants, they turned out just how you described them, awesome stuff, one of the iconic creatures of Skyrim, love it.
Thakn you Mistic! Super excited to make this video, and working on it now. Hope you enjoy it!
Deadass my new fav channel you cover all of my interests and then combine it with art theory and stuff!! Pls make more art exercise vids (maybe also for beginners on illustrator)
I personally struggle rn with knowing where to start and what tools to use and brushes and ect. In the back of my head i feel that maybe im holding myself back from getting started with these excuses
The back of your mind is probably right! There's no secret to brushes and tools... the most obvious and powerful path forward is just to march forward and start drawing!!
You make the awesomest vidios!
I am gona show you to my sister
So glad you liked this! I'll be releasing another video just this month!
This made my day, I love your work

Thank you Herman! I'm so glad you enjoy it, please let me know if you give any of these a go.
You underrated
Aw shucks thank you. Got some good stuff coming out soon, I hope you'll enjoy it...
11/10
James you're awesome, thank you!
@@JonahLobeDraws Keep it going! I appreciated the advice on sticking to a limited number of values due to the way skin normally absorbs light. Definitely see that I've been too heavy handed with my portraits after you mentioned that.
@@jameslawrence3649 I realized the same thing about my own work. I'm happy to have helped out a bit!
Hi!! I wrote this suggestion at an IG post of yours but to guarantee the most visibility, I will write it here as well. I love your Ragnar fanart and I think it is absolutely on point. Well done!! I think a process at another RR fanart would be an awesome video that many fellow howlers would like to see!
!!!!!!Spoiler if you have not read Iron Gold and Dark Age!!!!! Maybe Sefi? Or The Abomination (My particularly fav idea)? Maybe Cassius or The Moon Lords?
Hi Nitro! Saw your comment on IG, thank you for leaving it and one here as well. Really appreciate your following, and I think your comment is totally on-point. I've been meaning to make some more RR art for a while now, once I scrape together some spare time, I'll do it!!
@@JonahLobeDraws Thanks, I know you are really busy working on another awesome course like Chimaera. Take your time and don't overwork yourself. Hail Libertas, Hail Reaper
@@GoogleAccount-mn3zm Thanks for understanding! Hail Libertas!
Him: ohh.. nd before we dive in I just need 1 thing
Me: Yeah yeah like nd subs-
him: let go
Me: 😳
Hahah GOTCHA Sharad!
only did the faces exercise so far, which were commented as looking like "squished goombas", haha, which they are! it's great fun but also challenging, especially the rendering part is still difficult for me, I learn a lot
Good! Figuring out that basic rendering is like 75% of being an artist, so anything that works that muscle is time well spent!
Have you heard of cryptids? If not, you should listen to some stories. Can you do some studies of cave or deep-wood creatures? Highly enjoy this type of content.
I have heard of cryptids! What a cool concept. I'd love to do a study of creatures like that, when I do I'll try to post some good vids. Thanks for your feedback Saiah, and really appreciate you following me here!
@@JonahLobeDraws Highly enjoy the way you carry out your illustration. A sketchbook series would be pretty cool if you have some. Some holiday themed creatures would be cool as well.
@@saiah9729 I've got a series I'm working on now that is going to be HUGE. I think you're going to like it a lot!
I have been creatibng characters for a story idea and this face thing is going to help with that. I think I will do the same fro bodies
lol i should have wauted a little longer I would have seen that we are already doing bodies too
@@JadeDragonRaze We do it all Jade! Hahah
hey dude, how would you convert these exercises to traditional drawing?
Great question, Liam. Two of the three of these are very translatable: the silhouette one and the face one (in fact I do them traditionally all the time). I recommend using a thick black pen (preferably a brush pen, because that's super pleasant, but it can be any kind of pen or marker) for the silhouette one, and you can use any medium at all for the faces exercise. Pencil could be excellent to give you that nice shading, otherwise you can pick up like 2-3 gray markers to do shading on them (like Copics or something!). I wouldn't use any more than 3 markers for shading, however, as you always want to keep things as simple as you can for yourself!
Question: do i even need digital brushes to get started? Im rly bad at navigating brushes and tools n stuff
Not at all - you can use common materials like pens and paper. I love pens and paper. But if you're doing digital painting, the brush type doesn't matter, whatever makes you happy and allows you to be flexible.
Dont worry Jonah i hadnt cut my hair until 2 days ago and i had an afro and now im bald.
Dude you just summed up 2020 with this.
Not to sound rude but how long tell the next video?
Not rude at all! I'm actually creating several at the moment, but I cannot release them until my current project is announced. I have a BIG Skyrim video I'm working on now though!
@@JonahLobeDraws ah ok, ill wait for them when ready thanks
I keep drawing people of african decent.
I... don't know what keeps happening.
