- How do you invent something both noble and intimidating? How can fur be blended with scales in a manner both realistic and memorable? How do we use shape language to forge character and personality?
We'll explore these ideas and a LOT more as we invent an entirely new species, the Stormbjorn. I hope you learn something in this video, which is itself a short excerpt from my tutorial "Chimaera: A Creature Design Masterclass."

Honestly, you nailed the “softness” of the face. I kinda wanna give him a big ol’ smooch on the nose
Mission accomplished! Mwuah.
The armor around the face remind me of samura armor
It looks so great love the design
Great feedback Esben, thank you! You're totally right, I love that.
My first time seeing a video with zero dislikes

Incredible Art
Thanks Troy!
Hey do you think you could do a video just on classic monsters and what makes them so iconic? Like the T. rex from Jurassic park, classic werewolves and vampires, terminator, Godzilla, just a nice in general list of all the movie or game monsters we all know. I think that would be very cool and entertaining. A mythology video would also be very cool and I think a lot of people would watch that.
Chicken, that's a really great idea. I would love to do an evaluation of classic monsters and what makes them iconic. Thank you for that feedback - I've got so many ideas on this subject, I look forward to diving in...
@@JonahLobeDraws I wish you will include Nosferatu, very humanoid but one of the coolest monster designs ever in my opinion.
@@mohammadtausifrafi8277 Totally agree! Super iconic features. Fang buck teeth, a bulbous head, long fingers, a rigor-mortis posture and all-black cloak.
Wow, Incredible!!!😮😉👍
Thank you Stelios! I think you'll like what's coming up very soon, I've got some good videos in the works that I think you will enjoy.
"Fear-less
Lacking fear."
..I'm fairly certain even a child could understand that.
So easy, a child can do it!
if you want your creature to be called ``Storm bear`` it should be spalled Storm bjørn.
You are absolutely right, Helena, thank you!
Actually, “Bjorn” is correct. There are many different spellings of the name/word
Bjorn - English, Dutch
Björn - Swedish, Icelandic, Dutch, German
Bjørn - Danish, Faroese, and Norwegian
Beorn, Bjôrn, Biorn - Old English
Biornus - Latin
Brum - Portuguese
They all derive from the same meaning, “bear.”
@@orangeismyfavoritecolor Wow really, I had no idea! Thanks Orange.
I know the answer is probbaly yes, but..... do I have to do colour theory and years of art to make a creature like the sprigging or the giant? (loved skyrim and the fear the giants brought)
I think probably you’d need to study some sculpture or something, maybe some figure drawing? But yeah it would require a fair bit of practice I’m afraid!
@@JonahLobeDraws Thank you for the quick reply! And yeah thought so.. do you think I will be able to find some of those on RUclips? (I'm Fairly Poor)
@@squizzme7840 i’m sure you will! Try googling a few, there are plenty available!
1:45 Shrek???
This looks like an armadillo LOL
That was one of my references! Not enough armadillo monsters don't you think Kenneth...
