The image of Greg wearing Hypnos' sleep mask and snoring in a hammock brings me joy.
Yes very much so
I know this guy! I saw his name and I liked the comment!
when wait
"Is there a greek god that isn't horrible?"
Yes, and her name is Hestia, Goddess of Hearth and Home.
she got a gun
Technically Thanatos did nothing wrong, but he's hated by all of Olympus (and of course most Greeks back then)
Asclepius os a good guy too healing dudes
she is my real life grandma
@@jamieohjamieTechnically, same with the Fates and Moros as, like Than, they're all just doing their jobs
"Is she slowly turning into Skelly?"
"Now she is."
No notes.
So mote it be.
R1 to brood
L1 Salute. "Death to Chronos"
I feel like r1 to dodge and l1 to cast is a way better control scheme

Brood
@@RobinsMusic well for you, yeah probably
@@SultansCurse I mean it just lets you keep your right thumb always on the attack buttons which is way better than moving your thumb every time you wanna dodge since you have to basically spam the dodge button sometimes
GOATS of the Industry. The SuperGiant team was top-tier all the way back when Bastion was released.
agreed
Apollo is good at everything .. except having lovers who don't meet with a horrible fate
He's good at that too, once you read more of his myths.
@@thisisnotmynam My bad, turns out it's about a 14% chance of horror story. They're just a bit more famous.
@@TzTokJzSok The horror stories are always the most well known lmao
@@axllow3914 To be fair "This is Pete 86% of his exes haven't been raped and mutated before being killed in an horrible way" isn't a great selling pitch
Petition to get Danny DeVito in the final build!
That would be wonderful
He'd be great as Pan. Not the first time he'd play a satyr.
“you can be playing now” that cut to the game was immaculate
Nice, interviewing the team behind Game of the Year 2025
Probably not, indie games never win but It'll get a bunch of other deserved awards.
Mel leaning towards Emo/Goth industrial 90s, The Smiths, LOVE it.
hoo boy, Darren had some fun in the second area with that kind of music
If I was interviewing, I’d be asking “what’s the 6th weapon” every few questions to try to catch them off-guard 😂
Its prolly going to be some kind of bow
Or maybe a music instrument? Aspect of Orpheus?? 🤔
@@pulsar9537I need the lyre weapon now😅
@@pulsar9537there’s actually a voice line in game with odyssey where melinoe says she hated trying to use a bow
a bow with multiple strings is gonna be interesting
@@pulsar9537 I would love an instrument, or a whip !
15:35 now that's quality editing!
This is how video game interviews ought to be. Pretty awkward with two nerds(who are pretty cool). If people are charismatic, they can deceive you. These dudes let their straightforward and amazing answers show the game’s strength.
I imagine its mainly because they have no pressure from a larger company. But good on them for not trying to overpromise anything.
Petition for Supergiant to make a game based on Japanese and Chinese mythology in the future!
Fuxi and his sister-wife Nuwa, only good things can happen.😂
I LOVED the references to a wider world of mythology in the Hidden Aspects of Hades. Would love SGG to explore it further!
I used to always watch Greg Kasavin's reviews on Gamespot as my favorite reviewer there. That was almost 2 decades ago now. Awesome to see how far he has come in his game developer journey!
Seeing him in this video took me aback, I had no idea he works for Supergiant now!
@@StJimmy765He’s one of the founders!
Greg was Gamespot back when I was a youth. I remember his review of Baldur's Gate 2.
I still remember Greg leaving gamespot and feeling that I liked his reviews. Feels good what he made together with supergiant games.
im pressing r1 to brood as i watch this.
I'm really hoping noclip was documenting the development of Hades II the way they did the first game! Would love to get even more in-depth into the behind-the-scenes stuff!
i think they talk about that in a FAQ on their site and mention that noclip wasn't
Hades 2 is already incredible its hard to imagine them making a better game than hades 1 but I think they did just that!
8:49 this is the best thing they've said!
facts because holy shit
HADES series is absolutely stunning!
The gameplay, combat, variability, art, storytelling... pure art.
Sounds like Melinoë would listen to Secret of the Runes by Therion! 🤘
This was a fun and actually informative interview. Nice work!
This interview is really great work
Man, this is some of the best rollout of questions I've seen for an interview in a while
This was such a good interview! Thank you for this
Feels great having a rog ally and being able to play this ❤ ive been a console guy my whole life
same here
wdym by rog?
@FarhadHakimov it stands for republic of gamers it's a pc company
I’m
So torn on buying a handled PC
@BrandWin-zu1je
It really is an amazing thing especially if you get a rog cause it's just a pc so there's no compatibility issues like the steam deck can have with some games, but the steam deck is much more like a console so steam big picture mode will launch automatically and it just feels more streamlined
When the devs very precisely know what they're making. Love them ❤🎉
Question 79: Is Eris's "Blessing" an anti-Fresh File% mechanic? 😂😂
Most likely
its probably just a thing for early access and will be gone in the full release
@@marz517 maybe, would be really interested in remembering this by the time 1.0 is out tho haha
That was awesome. You can tell they had fun talking and joking around about the game and the mythology. A1 interviewer and this only made me like Supergiant more.
40k fans getting really angry all of a sudden when they hear the word "Erebus".
Can I know why? I don't mind a lore dump I love Warhammer lore.
@@MARY4201 no need big lore dump lol. One of the most hated character in the whole 40k fiction, is called Erebus.
Haha I just read Horus Rising the day before Hades 2 came out and yup
@@MARY4201Erebus in 40k is one of the primary assholes for why the setting of 40k is so messed up. He corrupted a good chunk of the cast into serving and worshipping evil gods, killed many favorite characters, and managed so far in the narrative to escape any real punishment for his crimes.
Let's put it this way: as a child Erebus was not even his real name, he murdered the real erebus who was a sweet kid and stole his identity for personal gain. That was before he even started serving the chaos gods officially...
@@ethanduncan1646 Damn, this guy does sound like an asshole. That's some Negan level shit
6:45 so ur saying melinoe would listen to NIN and HEALTH?
Yeah, this seems totally legit.
Good video! Just really unfortunate the audio is weird
Super entertaining and fun interview 😂
6:04 For a brief moment I thought he asked if you could raise your *bong* with other characters. LMAO
I would raise a bong with Dora.
Medea's Ephyran bong smoking program.
"It takes place chronologically after Hades "
Not sure if deliberate word choice or just linguistic coincidence.
“Apollo is basically good at everything.”
Except keeping his lovers alive Oooooooooooo-
I should avoid going outside under the sun for a while.
I remember watching Greg’s Elder Scolls Oblivion preview.
this is the best interview ive ever seen
My bro!!
Good questions and good answers 👍
fun interview
Audio goofed
outside of that nice
Marcus' mic - assuming he had one off-frame - must'n't've been working. Not a big deal though, he was still picked up pretty well through the mic aimed at Greg and Amir.
Greg Kasavinnnnnnn!!!!
Listening to this while walking and it's got me skipping like I'm running in a field. I've had over a hundred hours in the early access and I love it so so much!!!! This makes me really excited to see how the narrative changes in the final release :)
"How do we answer this question without answering it?"
*Moves onto next question*
10/10
6:40 bro is definitely an Emperor and NIN fan 😭
Please mic the interviewer, fun video thou!!
How fast could Kratos clear this?
This is so dope also I’m begging you to RX Mouth De-Click your lav mics
Gamespot legend Greg Kasavin
So thats why Chronos is the titan of time! I was always confused because from what little i knew, is that he was some kind of agriculture deity and thats why he used a Sickle
6:36 just keeping this here for now
phoebe bridgers would be huge for melinoë
Best devs in the game right now. Cant wait for Olympus
There’s a few spoilers in this video about characters in 2 (that I’ve not yet gotten to) so if folks want to stay spoiler free I’d give this a miss. It’s lovely to see these two in such good spirits
it would be cool if Medusa or Sisyphus show up in Olympus as bosses
The guy on the left looks and sounds SO familiar.
He used to be at Gamespot, maybe you saw some of his reviews
@@MrLiljon63 YES. Thank you man
Supergiant Lads keeping it 💯
i'm so happy they made sure to call Heracles with his greek name, and not the roman Hercules like disney did.
My question would have been if they want to make a third game, featuring the third Hade's child next
There has been numerous Greek mythology games, also Scandinavian/Viking mythology has been explored as well.
Chinese mythology is doming up with Black Myth: Wukong.
Here's hoping someone to come up with a proper Mahabharata game.
“Does Nickolas cage voice any characters in hades II?”
The burning question
Press R1 to Brood
The moon is infinite. All hail the moon.
It's wild to me that Greg is the mastermind behind some of the greatest games of recent times. I remember dude reviewing games for GameSpot back in the day, so sad when he left but it all turned out for the best! man I am old
I wanted to know if they like Zagreus more or Melinoe
The audio in this is a little weird?
Interviewer isn't mic'd up
depending on what sources you consult hades has 0 to 4 children: Pluto god of wealth, Zagreus god of hunt (catching more than killing), Macaria goddess of the blessed death and Melinoe goddess of funerals
Oh, I hope we gonna see some of them too!
Pluto is a roman god, it's Thanatos in the greek myth.
@@anitaremenarova6662 there are many versions to many many myths he is Indeed in some iteration Hades himself in others another name to this pater, in another a son of Hades and in others son of Deméter and iason
when ya know your lore...
Greg looks the same now as he did 20 years ago.
Amir Rao is so handsome 😍
Only been there once, but Philippine mythology is severely undiscovered and an untapped storyline.
him admitting hephestus is kinda op makes me feel so smart cuz i just KNEW he was a bit busted LOLL
iPad. What about iPads? I loved playing hades on my ipad
🐐🐐
Scandinavian symphonic metal?? 😂😂😂
Therion, Nightwish, Dimmu Borgir and many others have entered the chat.
Caught me off guard when Greg said that but given the OST, Korb enjoys a lot of metal it seems, good one too (the bands I named aren't that good imo but are great to get people started). The wormhole is deep friend, cheers!
PLEASE don't nerf Haeph. It isn't easy to make it op, but feels rewarding to.
“too early to say” 😭 dang i REALLY hope they release hades 2 on console
They will, there is so much money to make there, I fear it won't co e out right when game releases though and we will have to wait
@@eagleotto2527 we're probs gonna wait a year or 2 :( but hey as long as it comes out on console and by that time we will have a finished complete game 🥲
Hades 2 runs like a dream on Steam Deck just btw so no worries there if you were worried about that.
Please dont nerf hephaestus, bring all the other buffs up to his level
Hades 3 with Roman mythology or Norse..that would be amazing as well to see.
Then it wouldn't be Hades, it would be Pluto or Hela
the other guy who make the previous rapid fire question is 1000 times better than this guy,
2:39 As in...God of War Kratos?
Or is there a Kratos in Hades II?
Do you guys the interviewer completed Hades 1?
Are we going to see games featuring the other two Hades children?
1st question, do you believe in God? Nice! lol
*god...s
The guy on the left in the thumbnail looks like if Gilbert Gottfried was reincarnated as a super nerdy game designer. 😂
Omg I watched clash of the titans as a kid but I'm half the age
Since Homer is the narrator of Hades I and II, it is 9th century BC at the earliest, except there are better context clues in Hades I. Not looking at Greek mythology itself, but in the Aspects.
Guan Yu lived from 160 AD to 220 AD
King Arthur might’ve been a military leader in the 5th century AD, but all we know is that his story was first written as legend in the 1130s AD.
Beowulf as publication was disputed between 700 to 1000 AD.
Lucifer as a name for the Christian Devil was first found in the 4th century AD version of the King James Bible, for “morning star”, being the planet Venus.
Rama and Gilgamesh wouldn’t push the date in the slightest.
So I’d say it takes place in the 5th to 7th century AD.
No it doesn't, there are multiple references to the final aspects in the first game being from futures not yet realized. If you really wanted to try and timeline the games, It'd be more productive to look at which Greek heroes exist as shades meaning they've died.
Most Greek mythology is set during the Mycenean period, roughly 1750 to 1000 BC. Of course, these are not historical events and aren't set in any actual time, but Hades is a loose retelling of the abduction of persephone and therefore the origin of the season of winter, putting it firmly in the ancient Greek times I'd say
when talking to various characters about the infernal aspects, they often comment that the weapons *will be* used by great figures of history. so it takes place way before that.
It also gives an origin to the Orphic cult, which was at around 500 BCE iirc.
@@DianaHunterrNot all of them. It is implied both the aspects of Lucifer and Gilgamesh have already been wielded by those bearers
That game would be the absolute best game I've played all year long... If I wasn't met with the infamous "fatal error, failed to meet minimum system requirement"... On my souped up HP Zbook X2 workstation (with 32Gigs ram, Directx12, Nvidia Quadro M600 with the latest driver... sure, it's from 2018, but still, you're not going to tell me a $4k workstation is less powerful than a steamdeck ?). Tried everything that was on the book and nothing works. I still can't play the game. And from the looks of it on the forums, I'm far from being the only one. I hope some of the devs can look into this issue quickly, as it's blocking quite a lot of people all over the world to have early access to their game, hindering lot of valuable feedback, which is kinda the point of early access.
Other than that, awesome interview !
It's great to peek a bit into their minds about the future of the game (and great editing at the end on the brooding).
If you're looking for other quality pieces of medias that feature Greek Mythologies, the ones that sparked my interest when I was a kid were Ulysse 31, a fantastic French/Japanese cartoon of the 80's about the Odysseus but in a futuristic Star Wars sci-ci epic universe, and Saint Seiya, one of the most quintessential shonen animes of history (with fantastic characters, art direction, and my goodness the music ! I'm sure Jen Zee, the chara designer and concept artist of Supergiant Game is an old fan already, seeing as how she designed the "bronze" armors of Asterius and Theseus in the first game), which borrows heavily on greek mythology (most of the big gods are there) while keeping a fairly creative freedom out of it (they don't necessarily behave or serve the same roles like in the myths).
Now, LET ME PLAAAAY !!!!
some devs do this so that incidents like a game crashing and damaging a very old pc doesnt happen( which happens more than you may think with children who use old laptops with no technical knowledge) but it usually backfires in the ways you are experiencing with bugs and unintentional glitches
Percy Jackson not being mentioned as a great use of Greek Mythology in media genuinely hurt my feelings here.
I feel like there's a generational divide here, no? Like, no offence meant, but I'm pretty sure Greg and Amir are above the age they would have been likely to read PJO when it came out
Hephesteus boon getting neefed you heard it here
Hades 3 - Greeks vs Vikings confirmed?😮
They make a game based around orphic cult mythology and their favorite myth isn't Orpheus 😂😂😂
I feel like it's probably because it's debated whether or not he was real
"How did Chronos have Nyx under control? Nyx should be much more powerful than him."
I can't hear the black guys microphone too low
Black guy? Wut? You mean brown. He is Indian.
Japanese hades
the tiles in the background of this infuriate me
some of these questions should have stayed in the drafts. Annoying af
