    Richard Mille is such a good advertiser because the first time I noticed their watch was on Lando's wrist and I thought to myself what a sick design for a watch, I then started seeing it more often on the F1 track especially Grosjean's signature Red Richard Mille. But yeah Richard Mille's unique design is probably the reason I even noticed their watch.

    to my knowledge, Richard Mille requires their drivers to wear the watches while racing to showcase how they can perform in conditions where most watches wouldn't be ideal. Plus the watches are Quartz TPT which is carbon fiber they weigh usually about 34 grams. Quarts refer's to the pattern not the material. Hope this helps

  • @_-MiamiVice-_
    @_-MiamiVice-_ 4 года назад

    For me the best F1 watches were:
    -Tag Heuer Kirium F1 - Digital + Analog perfectly matching the design of the mclaren F1 car
    -2006 Tag Heuer Carrera CV2014.FT6007 on black rubber strap, black dial, with the chrono hands all red, a true motorsports feel to it
    -2006 Certina DS podium black, this was a cheap watch, with a quartz movement, paired with a black carbon strap from hirsch with the red stiches, it looked a lot more expensive in real life, accesible to everyone, very accurate, analoge 10th of a second measurement. Certina were sponsors of Sauber back then.
    -And finally my favourite one, another accessible model, i own myself /1996 model sourced from near the Imola race track/ with an amazing movement, the Omega Mk40. This watch on the black leather omega strap with white stiches was the ultimate f1 car feel to your wrist. First of all it was expensive, but not mad expensive. One of the first watches Michael worn as an omega ambassador during many race weekends, you can spot it on quite a few podium and race weekend pics. Its analog movement featured Seconds-Minutes-Hours-24 hours-day-date-month-chrono seconds-chrono minutes-chrono hours. The red chrono hands, the yellow tip on the date hand, white hands, and the blue on the black/blue 24hours/seconds dial, were the colors of the 96 Ferrari F1. /Red - Car's main color/-/Yellow - shell and ferrari logo/-/Blue - pioneer logo/-/White - Marlboro livery/ - /Black - marlboro livery, front and rear wings/. While some label the dial too busy, due to it's relatively small size, and thanks to the anti reflection coated crystal, once you see this piece in real life, start the chrono and watch the red hand smoothly sweeping around, you will understand the beauty of it straight away. /Some would bring the daytona up, but as myself who owned one, i can honestly say, i found it nothing but a showpiece. It's not something that can be used to compliment an active lifestyle, the hands are hard to read, and it just never sung to me, so i was glad to sell it on/
    And while the mk40 is not for everyone, you'll struggle to find a better alternative for a watch that gives you a better feel of what F1 was back in 1996, or the 90's. When the cars sounded right, looked right, tracks looked great with the various sponsor logos. They gave a feel/vibe to them, not like the mega boring Rolex/Heineken all green, that's just plain ugly. It's interesting to note, that while Rolex prides themselves on their ambassadors, they entered F1 in the worst possible age, not to mention, Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg aren't exactly considered overly the greatest in F1 history. This is not to say they weren't good drivers, but no match to the other Rolex guy, Jackie Stewart.

    Interesting video. I find RM to be a waste of money but however as a F1 fan I'm also fascinated by their relation with the sport. Like Kimi, Grosjean also has his own signature model. Lando Norris doesn't have his signature model but the one seen here is the McLaren model with the same color scheme as their F1 car. Btw F1 teams sponsored by Richard Mille also has the logo printed on the halo, so they get a lot of tv exposure. Felipe Massa, one the early ambassadors of the brand (and the first in F1) used to wear his watch during races, in fact it was made to be worn during races, it weighs 43 grams. I don't know if other drivers wear their watches during races now but back then he was the only one to do so (i don't know if he still wears it in FE as well) you can also see that some of the RM models are based after the FM model. Felipe Massa probably changed the watch game for racing.

      Massa is a Richard Mille ambassador, when he was with Williams he still wore it, despite Williams being partnered with Kris at the time. I believe it was written in his contract to say he would wear Richard Mille

    Talking about Grosjean wearing a Richard Mille.....RMs are some of the most lightweight and rugged watches in the world...Grosjean wears it every time he’s at the steering wheel and is the ambassador of RM.
    Also Charles Lecrec is a brand ambassador of Richard Mille but is bound by Ferrari x Hublot contract.
    Magnussen there is wearing a Richard Mille RM 030.
    Jean Todt, Massa and Fernando Alonso are dear friends of RICHARD MILLE-the founder

    Fun fact: In 2016 to 2018 when Red Bull were still powered by Renault, the power units were rebadged as TAG Heuer engines due to PR breakdowns between them and Renault in 2015. Hence, during that time period, they were classified as "Red Bull Racing-TAG Heuer" instead of "Red Bull Racing-Renault".

    As a watch collector and enthusiast, as well as F1 enthusiast, you'd think this topic would be of interest to me. However....nope. Nothing could be of less interest as far as I'm concerned. The brands which sponsor F1 teams manufacture some of the ugliest watches manufactured. The drivers only wear these hideous artifacts because they are paid to do so. IWC might be the lone exception - they are capable of and known for producing wonderful watches - but the ones they require Mercedes drivers to wear are awful.
