To those who keep saying "Ichigo's heritage was foreshadowed". Duh, I already know that. I literally say in the video they clean up his BS power-ups later. But something being foreshadowed well does not automatically make that said thing good for the story.
Yes his heritage helps build his character, which is great. The bad side to that is killing all the tension in the story whenever that character is involved. It's already bad enough that Bleach is riddled with horrible plot conveniences. Add that on top of Ichigo being every race & it's literally a cluster fuck

A lot of great points and a good video but a few things I want to point out that are little bit flawed on your reasoning, Ik I’m months late but whatever
-1. When you were talking about the soul reapers getting beat up by the arrancars only for them to “conveniently” have a seal that boost them isn’t a convenience because we actually already knew it existed when Renji and Ichigo had their second fight and Renji explains that Soul reapers of vice captain and up powers get sealed
-the whole “comedic moments through fights” isn’t exactly a bleach specific tbh. Naruto, One piece, Dbz and plenty more anime do this too(I’d argue Op does it to a far greater degree)
-Calling Byakuya bland with zero substance. Now Ik this is subjective but Byakuya was one of the few interesting characters with a philosophy in “upholding the law” in SS arc tbh, far better than any other captain at that time

Renji IS an amazing character, him having lots of Ls doesn't change that he is a well-written character which has nothing to do with strength and fights. Byakuya is also well-written, though I believe Kubo could've done way cooler stuff with his writing. I expected a lot better backstory and reasoning for him wanting to execute Rukia but it turned out it wasn't something that big at all. He needed more depth. I still like his development, though.
renji writing wise is actually one of the best, yes he takes a lot of L's but it makes sense and is added to his character development. people who think winning fights make a character good are very delusional or straight up dumb
BYAKUYA IS LEAGUES AHEAD OF RENJI ITS NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE
Byakuya is carried. Kubo was so stuck with him he even bitched out killing him off. His design and ability is nice. But his writing is objectively on the weaker side of the cast. Still not as bad as Vergil from classic DMC though.
Ngl most of these complaints just boil down to you not liking the way bleach is written and not legit plot issues. Ichigo being each race was foreshadowed and Grimmjow confirmed Ichigo had the ability to rapidly evolve in short periods of time even during battle. That also explains how he can beat people with double his experience.
Literally I agree with most things he said but the Ichigo being every race let's be honest it sucks and literally any big arc it's just him getting a new power up, badass entry and a new cape but I still like the show tho

Yea man one of the things that you lost me at was when you started to defend Chad and proceeded to say he got treatd better than rukia gotei 13 and espada. Where tf was he and what did he do in the arrancar arc aside from gaining a new power up and defeating an arrancar in hueco mundo? Chad got brainwashed in fullbring arc and during TYBW he was camping in hueco mundo up until the 2nd half of the arc yet he still did NOTHING. Jokes on u my guy
Yes, Chad was treated better than damsel in distress & jobber Rukia, the extremely shallow Espada, & some of the Gotei 13 captains that only exist to look cool & say badass one liners.
More effort was put into chads progression & development and I stand by that 🤷🏽♂️.... At best you can say Rukia and him are even

About the Ichigo being all the races thing. It was literally overshadowed many times like his bed being a Quincy cross, him being able to see ghosts, and the whole thing with old man Zangetsu. You have some good points but saying that some bleach fights have no emotions is crazy because that just means you didn't pay attention properly.

I tried to get through this anime, I really did. But I got so fed up with the dumbass unfunny comic relief characters every arc. Nel and those two other idiots almost made me drop the anime during Hueco Mundo. I thought the worst was behind me but then you move on to the next arc and it's Hiyori being an annoying little bitch right off the bat. Maybe I'm just too old for some anime at this point but I just find the grade-school-level humor in Bleach so grating I literally can't watch it. Honestly there's a lot of anime out there that would be better off without comedy relief characters (looking at you Zenitsu). What sucks is that you're basically 100% guaranteed these characters will never get killed off because they're always a self-insert for the author's own cringy sense of humor.

The number 2 espada was disrespected by Aizen to a point where Aizen wouldnt consider him as the number 1 espada because it was just to disrespect him even more after getting beat by him

Ichigos great power were always forshadowed, ever since the first arc. Kenpachi lost because he held back & didnt rely on help from his zanpakuto. Ichigo did well against him because ichigo had more potential.
Going by novels + TYBW's explanation, Kenpachi calibrates himself based on his assessment of his opponents so he can enjoy fights. Unohana beats this tendency out of him in the muken fight.
What happened was, Ichigo's power spiked faster than Kenpachi could recalibrate himself. Both White and Yhwach (Zangetsu) pumped him with so much Reiatsu that he straight overpowered Kenpachi.

The huge problem with Bleach (and you can extend that the whole manga industry) is that Kubo was an artist first, and a writer second. He created a very interesting universe, with some amazing characters but he never developed them that well because his writing wasn't sharp enough as his mind was much more calibrated towards drawing. He never had enough time and room to develop as a writer because Shonen Jump treats all their workers like 11th century slaves. I think it's about damn time the manga industry reworks this model of only one person doing both the script and the visual art of a series because it really makes no sense and it's very counterproductice.
I don't think this is the main problem here. There are also plenty of Manga out there that are created by more than one person (One person does the drawing and the other does the story). It's not like SJ forces one person to do both writing and drawing at the same time. The problem is, though, the existence of pre-determined red lines, tropes and cliche surrounding the manga industry, especially Shonen manga. Take Big3, for instance. What is the destroyer of all three of them? F*cking tropes! That's why modern Shonen is being praised for not following the same instructions as classic ones. Though I'd say even till this day there are still many Shonen tropes that Shonen series have to follow. Not as strict as before, thankfully. But still.

Demon Slayer is straight up garbage. Most Demon Slayer Characters are one dimensional and boring. The Goku vs Vegeta Battle was poorly written. Had no emotional pay off at all. It was obvious from the start that Goku was going to win and everyone was going to be brought back to life. There is no tension or stakes in Dragon Ball at all.

You ain’t wrong, but that just sounds like an excuse to justify the laziness and lack of creativity from Kubo-especially considering how he was rushed when writing. A vast majority of the cast are insanely underdeveloped; the only characters who are developed decently well are Ichigo, Aizen, and Yhwach.

Hanami vs Yuji and Todo had no business being there other to move the plot foward and to make Gojo look cool. If you really think that well fuck 85% of the fights. I think the problem is the fights with the irrelevant or undevelop characters last to long. And there was to many fights involving them that held back the story.

Its crazy that it was a tie, idk what people say. A character having lots of potential does NOT justify a tie against one of the strongest characters in the entire series at the beginning of it. It would have made sense if Ichigo tied against him in, lets say, somewhere in the middle perhaps or late but the beginning? He barely started!

It was pretty much explained that while Ichigo's potential is pretty strong, Kenpachi was basically lowering himself into equal ground despite being overpowered as shit by that point, not consciously, but instinctually, Unohana had to literally kill that habit out of him and now he can fight with all his strength.
You can just think of it as a consequence of being an early story arc, but Kubo at least made it make sense somewhat

I don’t know about you, but Yamamoto made me wanna go fight for the soul society during the thousand year blood war and so did the others during their major fights. No series has really made me do that so this is still gonna be my personal favorite.
Bleach falls after soul society. The fights are soooo boring to watch and after finishing the manga a few years ago, I just can’t be bothered. The only thing I still enjoy about bleach is how the characters look tho. I would watch a compilation of the new bankais but that’s ut
I read soul society and was wondering why people hated bleach. It was an amazing arc. And then I realized with the horrible slog that was the arrancar arc. Most boring s**t I've ever read. Forced myself to read through that chore all the way until the end and I regretted wasting my time.

Ngl this video is funny but you misunderstood so many things or we're just wrong this comment would be long asf so to skim through some Ichig fight with kenpachi does make sense because kenichi as a kid had mentaily restricted hisself to fight on whatever level he needs to be while ichigo was having his injuries sealed, getting power from zangetsu and his quincy powers while his power was increasing kenpachi mental was heavily restricting him. Ichigo achieved bankai fast yes but the bankai was destroying his body he didnt know how to use it and even arcs later the hollow explained ichigo still isnt good enough to use it and he achived it because he hails from the 4 great noble clans from his dad and byakuya explained why the noble families are able to use bankai.

Overall
Bleach had a good story and a good characters cast in terms of design and personality but the writer "tite Kubo" didn't know how to handle it and write it to it's limits and unlock it's full potential
Bleach writing peaked in the SS arc and in the fullbring arc and that's it
I gaise the writer didn't expect his story to success and become that much popular
-in the arancar arc he couldn't even tell a story or write a special arc about a specific character because he had too much characters to deal with and he can't even develo them because he treats them like they are a characters from a fighting game
Even yhwach was so blind and didn't get much built up
Stark was a disappointment, Hallibeille was a trash character that was carried by her rank

What i don’t like about bleach is that the main character always needs help or some way to bail him out of his Ls. The only time i can remember ichigo actually taking a dub on his own without ever getting assistance from anything or anybody was his last fight with grimjow.
Not here to talk shit just clear up a misunderstanding that the only reason Ichigo took so many Ls is because his power was constantly being suppressed by multiple factors beyond his control and all the "assistance" he got were actually the problem to begin with. Frist old man Zangetsu in reality was constantly holding his true power back (tybw spoiler if you know you know) and then you have hollow Ichigo who was angry with Ichigo for not accepting him as his true shinigami power which had negative effects on Ichigo and finally the combat pass that Soul Society gave Ichigo in reality was to monitor and control Ichigo's constant evolving spirit energy so he wouldn't kill anyone by accident in the world of the living just like the captains and lieutenants had their spirit energy nerfed with a seal the first time they were there

U do realize he did a unsafe method to learn bankai which kisuke did to also learn bankai the only problem is they didn’t show much tension in ichigo’s training as the method to achieve bankai in 3 days is extremely fatal to the user. Another thing to note dispute ichigo learning bankai he was getting crushed by his own bankai when he was facing byakuya but ofc we needed a hollow ass pull to save him. 😂 personally i would had preferred he had a draw with byakuya instead of ass pulling a hollow to save him.
Bro the point is that a character shouldn't be able to get that strong that fast. Having a method that helps you shortcut to a extreme power-up like Bankai is horrible writing

The only drawback is ichigo got crushed by his bankai but then they didn’t keep up that tension worse of all they put an ass pull. I would had personally preferred if learning bankai the fast way enables unstableness on ur bankai causing strain and making it a last ditch effort to use so its much more impactful when ichigo uses it
no it cant work out, the problem is that the method in which he went through to succeed in 3 days is something that most of the characters in bleach realistically could definitely pull off in 3 days or even less time. the method that he went through requires him using his brain and spatial awareness which is average and doesnt compare to most characters in his verse, for example urahara, shunsui or even mayuri would definitely pass in less than 3 days or less using the method ichigo did. ichigo finishing it in 3 days is to highlight how smart he is however consistently his average at best (his not smart), thats partly why its terrible writing. @@maysen51

i agree to a degree though it would of made sense narratively to just say that his genes were the reason he was able to do it because then at least it makes sense as his every race and therefore can do things that everyone else can't. making the method more risky would still be bad writing because again urahara, mayuri and shunsei would still complete it within less than 3 days, they are used to dangerous and risky situations in fact thats why yhwach put urahara as a war potential, (because his brain works on another level in any situation whether it be calm or very dangerous and life threatening), mayuri being second to that.@@maysen51

I agree with many of the points you made. However, one aspect that didn't make sense regarding the final villain Yhwach is that he is stated to have the ability to see the future. Given this, why didn't he foresee the arrow that was shot at him and dodge it accordingly?
Ichigo is a great character in the first arc.
He was amazing in the fullbringer arc too, those two arcs had me hella invested in his growth as a character.
it's so sad to see his character diminish as the series goes on (besides the fullbringer arc and Bleach: TBYW).

6:22 I agree with the convenience part and I really criticized Bleach for characters having an ability or convenience object to defeat a certain enemy like the God Sword you mentioned that was not even foreshadowed, 4 month training to get Final Getsuga Tensho that is enough to defeat Aizen, Adult Hitsugaya, Ichigo getting his powers back several times after losing them for free and whatnot but Ketei Kaisho was something we knew since Ichigo vs Renji Round 2. Renji mentioned that when a vice captain or higher enter the human realm, their powers get sealed to protect it from their spiritual pressure. So in order not to destroy the world, the area needs to be "enhanced" by the scientist of Soul Society before permission is given to the characters to release their full powers. That is why Hitsugaya and the others performed worse against the weak sauce arrancar compared to Ikkaku who is weaker than all of them. But then you question why Hitsugaya was performing so well against Haribel who should be vastly stronger as Hitsugaya might be the weakest captain (or should be), yet, can fight someone who suppose to be stronger than Grimmjow who is implied to have the ability to one shot Shinji despite being wounded and only had 1 arm.
The reason Rukia is so beloved is because despite being weak, her personality and knowledge is what made her stand out. It wasn't her power that made her a great character. She did literally nothing in the SS arc but had the best character moments. After SS, she did lose a lot of what made Rukia Rukia. Mainly her character arc and interactions up to the end of Soul Society is what made her a fan favorite and I still like her. She is actually the first female character in any show I actually liked. In no cartoon or anime I watched I cared about the females. Now I have a lot more favorites because thanks to Rukia, I learned to appreciate characters that aren't just strong or funny which usually are male characters.
Chad absolutely contributes nothing to Bleach. His best moment were pre-SS. After that, he became a jobber. He tried to improve but his improvement was absolutely going nowhere. He suppose to be a main character but his powers, character etc are so bland and forgetable. His fights are boring. His opponents he wins against are boring. At the end, he contributes fighting rock monsters. Even in the arc where the powers of the characters were to a level he could be relevant, he is a jobber. I am speaking about the Fullbring Filler arc which has no purpose because Ichigo could have gotten his powers back at any point in the story.
Orihime sucks. Because of the Arrancar arc building her up to defeat Aizen or at least contribute of her affecting where the story goes even if she doesn't succeed, yet, being wasted only to be a bait was what ruined her for me. We had to bear her being victimized all the time to an unbearable degree and then she gets shafted for the rest of the arc. After that arc, it just felt cringy when she tried to be "useful" or used for suggestive "comedy". It honestly disgusted me. I literally have a video series talking about how useless she is. "Why Orihime is more useless than you think" or something it is called.
Kubo ruined Yourichi after turning her to a catgirl. I don't hate catgirls but there is a video that explains better than I can why it was a mistake.
I dislike Ichigo after the SS arc because he became a b***ch always getting mindfugged and cry.

Bleach was never a "mature anime" did you even read or watch the show I'm genuinely confused but maybe I need to rewatch it. Its fine if you believe its themes to be "mature." A qualm with bleach is its lack of tension when you sorta don't feel because you realize Ichigo will always come on top. Instead of watching Ichigo as a main character, I watch him as a guide. Ichigo is so starkly different from yuskue naruto luffy because you see him break character so many times.

Tite Kubo is in many ways, like George Lucas. If he had a co-writer to help him hash out his story, and allow him to focus more on his art and designs (since that's obviously what he was really into), Bleach would have been so much better.

no it doesnt, it wasnt naturally developed, it was very forced. unohana and kenpachi before then never had any meaningful interaction. so from what we saw they didnt have any connection to each. if little scenes of them two were shown beforehand then its believable, and yes they could of done it as there were fodder characters taking up screen time.

Your right. They definitely could have built-up Kenpachi & Unahana's relationship better. But the sequence did have meaning, it added necessary lore to the story & gave depth to Kenpachi & Unahana's character's. Also they did foreshadow her past by having everyone fear her on the low.
