Tom Skilling, you are a legend! Chicago & WGN won't be the same without you, you will always have a place in our hearts, and in mine, I will definitely miss you.
When I was first introduced to digital cable up in Canada in 2008 and I stumbled across The CW superstations that were available to us, Skilling's presentation style on WGN had me hooked right away to the point where I'd make a habit of watching the News at 9 mid-way through after the Illinois Lottery draws around 9:20 PM back when they were still using blowers/tumblers, just for the fun of it. It's kinda funny how not even a couple of weeks later after Skilling announced he was gonna, another similarly legendary meteorologist in Winnipeg, John Sauder, announced that he was also going to retire after a just under 40-year career of his own in broadcasting and meteorology between radio and CKY/CTV and CBC, which he did the first week of this year. Congratulations Tom on retirement and all the best to you! Not only are you revered in Chicagoland, but also by this guy in the Great White North too.
Very classy of him to mention other Chicago meteorologists of the past here in Chicago. Another legend Harry Volkman, John Coleman, Jerry Taft among others. Tom Skilling was the best at his business though. Congratulations on your retirement sir!
