For those who don't know in the Sonic 3 prototype Sonic actually had the drop dash. When the mania devs were qestioned about it the move being in both games turned out to be a coincidence as they never knew
i dont really believe that bullshit about it being a coincidence since whitehead was allowed access to r2 of sonic cd's vault in 2011, he definitely knew about the drop dash

This is why I don’t like when people say Metal Sonic (CD) is better than Mecha. Mecha performs much more impressive feats than Metal (CD), to say nothing of the lore being that Mecha is the newer model, not Metal. Anyways, really cool stuff.
In terms of lore, I believe Silver Sonic from Sonic 2 is a prototype of Mecha Sonic. That's why they have a similar eye and similar movement. I could be wrong, but I think Silver Sonic has been called Mecha Sonic in official information before.

@@JayProductions-kn2ks Well to be fair he's designed to mimic Sonic and I doubt these moves came from nowhere. These all specifically seem to be inspired by new/scrapped abilities. Sonic had shields that function exactly like the bounce and dash mecha demonstrates and the jumping into a spindash and ring shooting is way too specific to be random.
