I haven't watched F1 for while. With this coronavirus bull**** I've been watching the virtual GP streams and I must say I'm having a blast.
I don't have a favorite driver, as they all seem great dudes, but I hope Lando gets to take the podium a few times in 2020.
It's highly unlikely you see this but, good luck dude.
Norris reminds me verry much to Ayrton Senna. He wins everithing at the First attemp in F4, Formula renault 2.0, Formula 3 and now in F2 is second in the standings. He was also youngest World Champion in karting. Yes he is rich yes he has perfect Support but at all he has to bring IT home already by himself. Also Senna has best equipment in the feder series. But Lando has proved that he is quick and intelligent in every class he drove. I am happy to see him in 2019 in f1. He will outperform Sainz from the Start of the season. Norris, Leclerc, Verstappen and Russell will be like Prost, Senna, mansell and Piquet in the 80s

Verstappen has an edge on all of them. he's the same age as them, has driven in a top 3 team for the past 3 years and clearly still has a lot of development to do. uncertain about everyone but Max at the moment seeing as Max is the only one that has shown it and won races and podiums. It's really good for F1 that there is a lot of young talent. It's also dissapointing to see talents like Stoff, De vries, Albon. Not being in F1 because of pay drivers like Sirotkin and Stroll.
Either that or Martin Brundle

I like his attitude towards it. I hope McLaren can support him with a competitive car. I think in time, they will. BUT Whether they can or not, I'll always be a McLaren fan. Also at the end - aside from grand prix wins with senna at the wheel, why does everyone love the mp4/4 when there's the mp4/5!!! The mp4/5 has an iconic v10! It seems to be forgotten. I have to say the mp4/4 is a breath taking car. But I love every bit of the mp4/5 especially the rear end.
Now give these guys a better car and they'll deliver. Feel sorry for Vandoorne.

Juan The only people who have destroyed their career is the drivers themselves. Vandoorne had plenty of time to prove himself and failed. Lando will not need luck. He will either have the spark or not.

It is not possible to be matched with his teammate if your team is disadvantaging you by giving you a car 5 tenth slower.

I really like Lando but McLaren have been really quick to throw the new protégés under the bus ex. Kmag and Stoff and I think we all can say unless there is a huge leap forward the car will be junk again next year. I think he could’ve used another full year in F2 but I really hope this works out well for Lando. And I really hope Stoffel gets another chance. I really think he is very talented and was a huge victim of circumstance.

I never understood why McLaren have never had McLaren power units
I know that this is 2 years too late, but power units are way to expensive to build. All the companies that build them have the money to do so.
Ferrari is one of the biggest sports/supercar manufacturers, and were owned by FIAT.
Mercedes-Benz has high sales numbers, and is well versed with pioneering technologies.
Honda also has high sales numbers, and have decent earnings through their bikes and cars.
Renault gets a massive cash boost (mainly in Europe) due to their road cars.
As for McLaren, it's very risky to build your own engines when you don't have financial stability. They are not owned by another car manufacturer, and they don't produce cars in mass numbers (like Mercedes and Renault). Hence, McLaren decided to play it safe.

"GP2 engines" Red Bull has won races this year with these engines. It is the chassis that is terrible.
He matched Alonso's pace in last FP1. Matched their qualy laps in his first test with McLaren. don't worry LANDO. Relax and enjoy
Mike taerte he didn’t match Alonso, he was 8 tenths of Alonso. Vandoorne only 2-3 tenths.
The frustration is next season,is the only live race ,to watch him, will be the British grand Prix,as channel 4 finishes,live motor racing, on Freeview TV and sky has ,,6/7 years i think to all the grand Prix.and we don't no who will get the highlights.next season.

A young driver with a mature racing head on his shoulders. I've watched Motor Sport for 45 years and the last time I witnessed a talented as promising as Lando was a Young Brazilian named Ayrton de Silva who later adopted his mothers name Senna. Yes I believe Lando has the potential to be the next icon of Formula 1. There are good drivers and there are great drivers . Great drivers come along a couple of times in a generation. Lewis Hamilton. Alain Prost . Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna in recent years. In a few years time we will add Lando Norris to that list....
You can tell the old timers from the younger crowd. The new kids to the sport just can not understand why McLaren would replace Vandoorne with Norris. But, if you have watched enough races, you can just tell if a driver has that spark or not. Vandoorne did not. He was given plenty of time and never showed any glimmer of greatness. It is a race for the teams, as well. You never know when the next Max, Gasly, or LeClerc will come along. Lando could be that driver. McLaren spent 100's of millions on Vandoorne so he has had his chance. Hopefully, Lando will be just as good in F1 as he has been his whole career. (national carting champion, Renault 2 and 3, Formula 2 and 3, European race championships to numerous to list.) And it is not about the car. No matter what car a great F1 driver is in, that spark will always shine through.

Ross Mcghie He drove for Mclaren at their two worst years plus his benchmark was set incredibly high with a teammate like Alonso. He drove good, he performed well. Stoffel is qualified to be in F - more than Verstappen.
What a missed opportunity by Macca if they had the chance to sign Raikkonen. That would have been PR Gold. Lando looks like he is 12 and requires parental supervision at the races.
Ciaron Smith might perform though man, mclaren would be gutted if they signed kimi and Lando went on to win titles with somebody else too much interest so you’ve got to take the chance

F1 needs to be a feeder series for indycar
He doesn't look English at all, his accent is also weird... he sounds like someone who's learnt to speak with a southern English accent not coming from Britain. It's mostly the sound of those short 'i's in words such as 'think', 'feeling', 'skin'... the way he says 'championship' sounds like the way a Frenchman would do!
His sing-a-song tones are also not really British to my ear (I'm Scottish, so I do know how to sound British with a sing-a-song intonation), for some reasons he seems to be much of a Lewis Hamilton case, whose accent is widely discussed and questioned for its 'not really British' sounds...

Vandoorne was not good enough. Time to give someone else a chance. You never know which rookie driver could be the next Hamilton, Senna, or Shcumaker.
tonkatoytruck did you read the comment?? The car is a piece of crap at the moment and I fear for Norris if he is in it and it's still crap , there's a good chance it may ruin his career as well . Hamilton debuted in a top car and with Schumacher and senna it was less car driven and more skill . Manual gear boxes excetra . Lando may be good but mclaren lying to themselves about how the drivers the problem will have to change .
Benendes It has nothing to do with the car. When you watch F1 racing long enough, you can just tell when a driver has that spark or not. Vandoorne did not.
tonkatoytruck you forgot to mention vandoorne was running on alonsos settings for a long time mean his car was never really developed. I'll admit he's not the best driver but sauber has a better car you carnt just deny there car is crap
