Thank you very much for that video. Thanks to you, I decided to upgrade from HD650 to this beauty. I really love them (music and gaming), they have everything I ever wanted from sound, they are my endgame headphones I think. I also don't feel the headband at all (good solution for this are Dekoni Audio Nuggets), only the earpads aren't perfect for comfort, but not bad also (a little thin and small ), so I want to try ZMF ori perforated, I'm just afraid I won't take too much bass, the stock bass is perfect for me. I welcome some more soundstage and airnes, but dont want to give mutch from bass. Also I cant wear other closed back headphones cuz it causes me lying ear, thanks to these are semi-closed I dont have that problem. Btw iam runing them on Marantz HD-DAC1 and I love that matching. Sry for my eng.

@@dieterhumins2586 Don't worry buddy, they'll fit to everyone. There are more options for how many nuggets to stick, someone uses 2 to sides, someone 3 or you can put all 4. I chose all 4 nuggets and I don't know about the headband even after 12 + hours.

Thanks for the great review man. I randomly found this channel and i'm glad i did, been watching all the headphones reviews you've got and found them useful. It's very niche and quite honestly we don't need to spend this much for comp gaming but hey i'm like you i simply love it, wether it is for getting the best imaging i can get for my moneys or to find an "all rounder" for endgame.
I didn't expect the D7200 to be in that tier tbh, that's a pleasant surprise as i'm very interested in Biodynas. Hopefully you can get your hands somehow on the D9200 too. Quite expensive (here i often see them for "only" 1200€) i reckon but that had make sense for your channel as i haven't seen much people reviewing both the D7200 and 5200. Would be nice if you could complete the family, D9200 seems to be a good upgrade over the D7200 from the feedbacks i've seen online. I wish i could hear them myself but Denon is unavailable for demoing here. :(
Have you heard the TH900 by any chance ?

Initially when trying this I was not super impressed for gaming, my more bright headphones had trained me to keep my volume at a certain point because if I went above it too much then a number of things became very offensive and hurt my ears (in apex legends for example, clicking join lobby button, opening/closing doors, shooting certain guns etc some things were just ear bleedingly loud/pierceing which I assumed was normal and my punishment for pushing the volume up a bit too far), funnily enough that approach doesn't apply to these headphones at all, I can crank the volume wayyyy up(3x the volume) without discomfort, the higher volume somehow doesn't boost all the bad stuff but boosts skills and footsteps extremely well...initially I was sad I'd made a poor purchase since they didn't feel like they performed that well but my faith is restored in this reviewer :D I was worried cause all his other reviews from this guy were so accurate for me.
With regards to movies and music the the imaging/soundstage is a little weird/muddy to my ears, still like them for those things but maybe I just got used to bright treble, in games though I have 0 issues, when someone comes for me I know exactly where they are coming from.

Wish I saw this review before getting my D7200. Regardless, excellent take.
I can't say it's my favorite headphone, but it's pretty good after some break in. If there was a legit complaint I'd levy against it, it would be that it looks a tad silly on the head. Just a bit too darn wide. Also that hotspot is killer; looking to get some nuggets to fix that up.

@@gamingaudioguide9292 I've now had the chance to listen to these more. Coming from using exclusively hd650 the first thing I noticed was the bass that open cans cant really offer. It reaches much deeper than Im used to but I dont think its too overpowering as some people seem to think. The mids are definitely more recessed but im fully aware that few headphones compare to hd650s mids. I prefer darker or warmer headphones which is why years ago I opted to go for 650 instead of the 600s. The highs on the 7200 are just perfect perfect in quantity and they have this sweet texture to them. All in all they are brilliantly tuned v-shaped headphone. The biggest drawback by far is the comfort on the headband. They barely have enough adjustment to fit my head thus I wasnt even able to place dekoni nuggets to where I wanted them. I did stuff them in there but further away from center. Now I can use them for about 2 hours at a time without major issues which isnt too bad but its a shame I cant wear these all day
edit: I opened the stitching on the headband and took out almost all of the padding. there is a completely useless plastic film that makes them so uncomfortable. Closing the headphones was pretty easy afterwards since the padding wasnt in the way and they even still look great. Now I can wear them literally all day with the dekoni nuggets.

Would you still consider these the best imaging headphones next to the HD800? I unfortunately have to move away from my HD800 w/SDR because I need slightly more isolation. I live downtown and it's not incredibly loud, but extremely transparent open-back headphones like my HD800 let the hum of the road cloud all the detail I bought them for in the first place. Looking for a closed back that gets close to the detail and imaging of my HD800 and it has not been the easiest task.

first - the hd700 and i do not mix well lol. that is the single most painful treble i have experienced to date. i couldn't wear headphones for almost two weeks after testing them, they caused me so much pain.
okay, the 7200..... yes, i still love them. however, all headphones are compromises. i'm yet to find the perfect one. the denons still lack great comfort due to the headband, and they require different pads to be elite. they also have a fairly small sound stage. now....they resolve and image like crazy and do not cause treble fatigue. although some are bothered by a ringing at 2.5khz, that simply doesn't bother me.
at their SRP - they cost too much. if you find a sub $500 price, they are a home run.

I found some used used Dekoni fenestrated sheepskin pads and the modhouse audio mod and wow much much MUCH better! Now they sound like an hd 600 but with much bigger soundstage and super detailed imaging without stabbing my soul with knives. But yes indeed stock I could not listen to them for more then 15 minutes. I found a pair of these denons used for 550 but just didn’t seem to be a good price so I am glad I waited for your response! Thank you! Well I ended up having to sell the Audezes which I was super sad about I miss the sound so much, but the metal headband was too close to the leather strap so the metal dig into my head :( now I am tempted to try and find another pair of Audeze with the older headband! I actually made money on the Audeze I sold so now I have around 700 to spend what would you recommend for an Audeze sound (bass impact?). I couldn’t believe it cause for the first hour (with leather headband adjustment) it was so so comfortable, but then after about an hour my neck and head got tired so my posture started to suffer which then caused me to get tight muscles and cramps. It was insane and surprised me! So now on the search again. I really wanted to try some hd 800s but paying for those used even is insane! how do these compare to the d5200?

    • @gamingaudioguide9292
      @gamingaudioguide9292  3 года назад

The 7200 has nicer padding material and is significantly more resolving. It also has less of a seal and the pads are perforated on the interior ring. This makes the 7200 less bass emphatic than the 5200.

I'm thinking of upgrading from a pair of DT 770 80ohms. How does the soundstage on these compare?
Also, what games do you play?

the dt 770 is more V shaped. More treble, more bass. 7200 would be a big change. sound stage on the dt770 is bigger. imaging on the 7200 is better. for "fun" sound and to keep closer to bassy profile of 770 (if you like it) you can stick with stock pads. perforated leather pads really make competitive gaming next level with the 7200, you just lose some of the fun single player bass. perf pads will make stage bigger as well, as all the options are a deeper pad with larger ear cavity.

Hello ! What should be best for gaming ? Sennheiser 800s or these or 9200? or HD 700 ?!

    • @gamingaudioguide9292

i found the hd 700 WAY too bright. The 800s i have not tried, only the 800 (which is also too bright for me). The 9200 measures pretty bright.
I would go either 800s or 7200. price and return policy would probably be what I would base my decision off of. Can you audition them?

The 9200 is my favorite headphone. I have the 5200 and hd800. The HD800 it is impressive for what it does - wide sound staging and very airy but I prefer the 9200 above all. It’s just so fun and the bass is so quick and detailed and so comfortable.
