one of the best seasons in a while. great characters and an awesome ending. loved the edge of extinction theme and the ability for contestants to fight their way back in. But definitely too many idols in play and Devens always finding them all was over the top. thank god Chris won the fire making challenge and took Devens out. also thankful the new contestants played smart and took the returnees out. A lesson learnt from past seasons like fans vs favourites and redemption island.

Because if the viewers are not only satisfied with those awful gimmicks (E0E, half of episodes depicting a scavenger hunt, a gazillion advantages, a winner who was voted out third and was in the game for a whopping 13 days total) but also claim to actually *enjoy* this sort of crap, I really fear that the show might continue in that direction and keep drifting further and further away from the original premise of Survivor. I would 100% call the season preceding this one not just one of the best in a while, but one of the best ever. DvsG was Survivor at its best. However, as far as I'm concerned, EoE was Survivor at its very very worst, and I really hope that godawful Extinction Island twist is put to rest forever.
salomey5 I get why you think its worse, and i agree eoe should NEVER get used again, or at least tweaked. But the characters were actually fun. Way better than HHH but falls short to MvGX and Kaoh Rong. In the middle of the pack of the 30’s

That said, i understand that the barebones approach of the early years is something that was left behind a long time ago and that we won't go back to. That said, DvsG didn't feature 9 gazillion twists and still managed to deliver one of the best seasons in years. So i won't lose hope because that season proved to me that Survivor is still able to make amazing television. But i bloody hope (probably should put on the brakes on my enthusiasm though) production is gonna calm the eff down with the idols, advantages and other whatnots. As for EoE, fingers crossed that this garbage twist dies the slow painful death it deserves.

There’s nothing wrong with devens finding the idols .. he deserved every second of it, he worked his ass off
