    I am a huge UK fan and a Reed fan. He's a really good all around player and obviously there's the shooting. The only place he's lacking is his on the ball defense against quicker guards . If he can improve that he will have a long career in the league.

    • @TheMissinLink
      @TheMissinLink 6 месяцев назад +6

      Uk fan. i definitely question his half court creation against good nba defenses. I think he’s absolutely capable of improving here. In transition is where he will be able to show off his full skillset. If some of the ball watching and over helping can be ironed out i still think he could be an impact defender. Even if the point of attack defense is questionable. His hands and timing just make him that good of a defensive playmaker.

    Been watching Reed since 6th grade. He involves his teammates by being very unselfish and is extremely coachable. His shooting came later by working very hard on it. He has been underrated at every stop, but it only takes a game or two for everyone involved to understand that he needs to be on the court as much as possible. I think the Rockets have saw that too. Calipari saw it quickly but could not start him for recruiting promises he probably made to others. But Reed did play his 28 minutes per game for Cal. He's a special player. PS That Cam Whitmore is something to watch too. If these two guys can't start for them, they must have an unbelievable team.

    This is how we played ball in the 90’s. Before every player camped out at the 3-point line, we hunted open midrange shots because they were automatic for a good shooter.
    He also reminds me a bit of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Reed has more elevation, but Rauf was a good finisher at the rim too.

  • @teachingbioinformatics
    @teachingbioinformatics 6 месяцев назад +15

    You probably can't play Sheppard and VanVleet together so Reed isn't getting more than 18-20 minutes a game. I think he will play with Amen and Cam a lot. I really want to see him play with Amen & Sengun a lot but that probably isn't happening this year. When playing with Amen and Sengun he will be used a a sharpshooter without them he is the floor general. I only see him averaging 12-14 points but he should get a lot of assists - let's say 5 on average. I think he will lead all rookies in steals+blocks. I expect him to play on the Rocket's B-team. Adams, Tari, Amen, Cam, and Sheppard. I truly believe this will be the best 2nd unit in the NBA. It will wear the other team out with its athleticism and be really solid on defense. Reed probably won't make rookie MVP because of the low points/minutes. But if VanVleet gets hurt or is traded this could change. I was predicting 46-48 wins for the Rockets before I saw Reed in summer league - I'm upping that to 50. If Sengun or Amen can learn to hit a 3 point shot - - - move that total up even more. The Rockets are scary talented with a good coach.

    He was fun to watch at UK.
    He’s deceptively athletic- dunking over people is not his game, but he will get some blocks that will surprise people.
    He has ridiculously quick hands for steals, he excels at that.
    He looks to pass a lot- he’s good at floor-length assists, and is great at threading the needle.
    He’s a great shooter, distance, mid-range… wherever.
    The main problem he had at KY was not shooting when he should- but that will come with experience.
    We were all hoping he would stay longer, but he left- and we kind of expected it.
    He’s great to watch.

    Reed will be top 5 for all rookies in every category. He may not be number one in anything other than shooting percentages but he will fill the statline every time he plays. He is somehow involved in everything. He gets burned on D sometimes because he gets a bunch of steals and deflections. It's his game and he will improve on that in the next year or so. That is his only weakness along with needing a tighter handle. But even with those, he will be better than the average NBA vet this year.
