So many reasons to love this video! 1. Gets right to the tutorial. 2. Great tips included like practice beforehand with the flat iron off and don't clamp down too hard 3. Explains advantages of tourmaline ceramic and gives brand info succinctly. 4. Explains method of curling flawlessly. 5. Time saving because everything she says is actually helpful. 6. Great voice so soothing! 7. So easy to understand how to curl hair with her thoughtful instruction and patient demonstration. 8. Beautifully produced video and beautiful person who is very personable and fun to watch. 9. I learned her method super quick! Yay!!
I have literally watched 50 different videos, trying for the longest time to learn how to curl my hair with a straightener. I curled my whole head in 15 minutes after I watched this video. THANK YOU!!
*ATTENTION* I learned this the hard way, but also tilt the iron upwards or downwards for the best curl. The more often you curl your hair, the better it will turn out. And also, don't drag your iron too slowly down your hair or it will just lay limp, but don't do it too quickly. And if it's not working too well for you, try smaller sections. Again, all my experience! Sorry if these things dont work for you, but I thought I would share some trial and error i went through❤
whenever i used her method i got PERFECT results,im not even kidding I've been using one of the method on her 5 minute curling iron curl video thing since the day she uploaded that video which is a long time ago & its still my favorite way to curl my hair to this day. And now imma try this method and hopefully also got perfewct results
I must be some kind of special because I have the exact same flat iron and I couldn't get it to work. Literally tried for 30 minutes before I threw the iron across the room. And yes...I broke it.
Could try a different flat iron. I tried curling my hair with like 5 different flat irons and even my CHI failed me ...but my flippin Conair that I paid 12 bucks for on eBay did the trick. We all have different hair, sometimes it just takes a different tool!
Holy shit I've been struggling with flat iron curls for years. Sometimes they turn out. Most of the time they don't lol I can't believe this method first time trying WORKED . Thank you very much
This tutorial just changed everything for me! Thank you!! Also a helpful tip for everyone, to keep the curls from combining into one giant curl, one you do the pieces in front of your face going backwards, do every other piece the opposite way, one backwards, one forwards, one backwards, one forwards. Also, once youre finished lightly back comb the curl to add body and volume, shape it the way you like, it makes it look more undone and beachy, and less uniform. Also, as she said, twisting it the moment your done with the piece is important to get it to stay and be a shape you want. ❤️🔥
I realized that twisting the iron just creates a wrapped effect so I could just skip the twisting and wrap it myself! It took a bunch of trial and error to figure out a wrap that worked and was easy to understand, but I got there :D!
Same here unfortunately. It looked so easy First. Not very good at curling my hair anyway So don’t know why I thought thought this would be.. Try another video I guess..
I just tried this technique and it totally works! I have very curly hair, I straightened it first and then I followed this technique and it works perfectly! I’m so happy! I love having big loose curls 😘 Thank you for sharing your method 💕
I’ve tried curling my hair so many times and have never succeeded! I followed your tutorial and while I only got 3 solid curls, I consider that a success! I’ll keep at it until I perfect it ☺️ thank you so much for sharing this video! xx
I have a lot of fine straight hair that WILL NOT curl. I tried this technique and witnessed a miracle! My hair was still wavy by the next day. Highly recommended!
I am completely clueless in my mid-40s when it comes to doing anything with my hair. I watch tutorials that claim things are "easy", & they're anything but. This is easy to follow, & looks easy to do, so thanks for not making it complicated.
This was my first successful attempt at curling my hair and it was so super easy!! I’ve failed many times at curling with a flat iron. Thank you for creating such an easy to follow video.
I’m just coming in here, two years since you posted it and I originally watched it, and I just want to say this changed EVERYTHING for me!!!! I’m a hair curling wizard with the straightener now. Packing for trips? No problem. I’ll just bring the straightener, don’t need the curling wand. In a hurry? I’ll just curl with the straightener. I love you. Thank you for this tutorial!!!!
Life saver. LEGIT. All the other ones just left and iron dent in my hair, this worked! Super bouncy curls! I have medium hair, and once you get the hang of it it's not too hard!!! THANK YOUUUUU.
I tried this trick and my hair turned out amazing. I definitely got confused on how to do at first but the more you do it the better the curls will turn out. Also, don’t do this too slow or too fast (I learned that the hard way). But this trick definitely works great and would highly recommend trying.
I drove myself crazy watching other tutorials and not succeeding with being able to get my hair curled. Your tutorial was so incredibly easy and my hair looks amazing on the first try! ❤
Hi. I found your idea on curling hair with hot plates SO SO easy to follow. A massive thank you. I have shoulder length VERY fine hair so I am trying this method tomorrow. Wish me luck as never used flat irons before 🤞 X Josie x
Omg yay I tried this and it worked I’m soooo happy a lot of curling tutorials never work this is quick and easy sure it takes some time like approximately after you’ve done this 2 times u are a pro
I haven't tried this yet, but I so appreciate that there isn't 10 mins of bs at the beginning of this tutorial! Love it! Also, your hair looks AMAZING 😍
My hair is finally long enough to try this. It is magic! I got through my whole thick head of hair in 10 minutes (I need at least 6 sections) and no sore wrists. I am also an OG Kayley follower and strongly resent TikTok for claiming this hack!
its 1.30ish AM where I live, and I watched the video like half an hour ago from my bed, and I just couldnt wait to try it out so I woke and tried it and you know what?! it worked! lol. And I'm so clueless about doing my hair. Thank you! Thank you! Ok now time to sleep😅
OMG!!! I've watched this video before and tried it but never could get it down. I just literally figured it out!!! omg Kayley you are my savior!! I get to finally have the curls I've always wanted! Love you
THANK YOU!!! I love doing flat iron curls, but dread actually doing them. Now I can enjoying doing flat iron curls without getting dents in my hair lol!! ☺☺
Kayley, thanks so much for these really simple instructions. I have baby-fine hair and have never been able to find any way to make it hold curl for more than an hour. Add to this my complete lack of styling talent (really--zero natural skills in this area!!). I felt doomed to a life of lifeless hair. This method worked wonders!! It was so easy to follow and my hair looks amazing! I don't have a lot of time to spend styling my hair. As I practice what you taught me, I feel sure I will be spending no more than 10 minutes on curling my hair which really fits my lifestyle. Thank you! Thank you! Brilliant and simple!
Omg I literally love you!! I’ve tried so many hair curling videos but none of them worked but this worked straight away. Your doing miracle work. Keep it up 💗
I’ve watched like 10 videos on how to do this and this is the only one that taught me to curl my hair like this and it actually worked. Thanks a bunch!
It took one and an half hour to curl my reeeally long and thick and straight hair but you know, it worked, they curled even though they didn't came out as nice as hers, but it was my first time so I'm actually happy with the result
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I tried the twisting technique and utterly failed at it. You explained it so well and your demo is super easy to follow. I appreciate this video so much!
You made this look so easy!!!! I have thick, short-ish hair that has become out of control as I get older. My attempts at curling my hair is a fiasco!! I usually give up before I finish because I’m doing something wrong obviously so I vowed to never even try again. Now I finally understand!! This is the BEST “how to” Ive ever seen! Thank you! thank you! thank you! It seems that once you get the hang of your method it works! Again, thank you for sharing!!! You’re a beautiful lady with beautiful hair! Be blessed 😇
Any tips on how to keep curls in my hair? I have really thick hair and it is super hard to keep curls looking move throughout the day😩 even with heavy hairspray it doesn't stay
I have this same problem except my hair is fine. I've tried every tip out there and I can't get my hair to hold anything, but these might help you: 1. Pin each curl up right after taking it off the iron/wand, and let it cool for as long as you can (while you sleep or do the rest of your morning routine.) 2. Only curl on second or third day hair, and don't use conditioner (or any other leave-in product) before you curl your hair, because that will just weigh it down. 3. Use a water-free hairspray, because water also adds weight. Big Sexy Hair has some good hairsprays that even Kayley recommends. If you're using the right hairspray then it shouldn't feel stiff or crunchy. 4. Try heatless/overnight curls if you haven't already. Some people claim they last indefintely longer than anything you'd achieve with heat. 5. Curl smaller sections of hair at a time, esp. since your hair is thick.
I just found your channel through Tati's wedding hair video. Best discovery of 2017 so far! It's my goal to learn more hair techniques this year, cause while I'm a makeup lover and advanced in that, I don't do much when it comes to my hair 😌
Thank you soooo much! I have tried following so many flat iron curling videos and I couldn't seem to do it but this method is so easy! It normally takes me 1 1/2 to 2 hours to curl my thick hair but I did mine in less than an hour with this method! Thank You! 👏
i seriously suck at that twist and flick method so im going to try this. thanks! :) but my straightener is not as thin as yours. will it make my curls kinda.. rectangular looking? hahahha
I tried this on a few sections of my hair, and all I got was straight hair with a little flip on the end; I'm gonna try it one more time; didn't wanna buy a curling wand since I have a flat iron, but will if this doesn't work when I try again, though I hair is not very long, just a little past my shoulders.
Omg this was alot better then alot of viedos thank you for explaining. Practice makes perfect. I learned to tilt downwords makes it better and The tip on not to clamp down helped
I have very long, heavy hair (fine but dense) so I have the same problem. Because my hair is heavy, I find the day I wash it is actually better than 2nd or 3rd day hair. I use a very light conditioner when I know I am going to be curling it. Use a heat protecting spray before curling (helps hold curl and won't damage your hair or iron/wand likes some hairsprays) and either hold the curl in your hand or pin to your head as it cools and that will help set the curl. Hot rollers also work well for me, but I need three sets to get all my hair in! Good luck.
Omg thank you so much! I have tried curling with the “twist” method so many times and never could do it! Tried this and worked perfectly first time! Thank you!!!
Same😥 I never have been able to curl or straight my whole hair because I got tired by doing of my hair 😂 I gave up and tie it in a ponytail or make a bun 😂😂
you should try a hot tools 24k gold marcel curling iron it heats up to over 400 degrees so it can curl thick hard to curl hair. the marcel clamp is harder to use though and takes practice
this technique changed my life, like for real! after giving up on trying to curl my hair with a flat iron i tried this, and it actually worked! i almost cant believe it! thank you!
+KayleyMelissa hi gurl....BIG FANN😀😘. Can you do a vid on how to use (tips or tricks)bobby pins .i suck at using them because i kinda have slippery hair. i have hundreds of them but always end up losing them because they slip out at the end of the day... Pls reply❤...
I have been trying to learn how to use a hair straightners for a long time and have never had success but finally after watching your video I was able to learn with the easiest technique I have seen. You explain it so well with easy to follow instructions and finally I can use my new straightners to curl my hair. Might not be as fab as yours but I will get there. Thank you so much :)

Wow I am copying and pasting this into my memo,This is really great advice!
Hi what do you mean by ‘tilting’
@@n_-pg2rx like tilt. Like put the iron diagonal. Watch how she does her hair closely.
Don't do it too slowly, but also don't do it too quickly or it won't work. Oh great, thanks lol

2. Only curl on second or third day hair, and don't use conditioner (or any other leave-in product) before you curl your hair, because that will just weigh it down.

This is crazy!!!! After watching like 3k vids I finally find a vid that actually works !!! Love ittt
My hair is so thick, this would take forever 😩

Same😥 I never have been able to curl or straight my whole hair because I got tired by doing of my hair 😂 I gave up and tie it in a ponytail or make a bun 😂😂
lauren kerr same lol
I curled my hair for almost 2 hours then when i got my last section done i let the rest of my hair down and all of it was flat😑
you should try a hot tools 24k gold marcel curling iron it heats up to over 400 degrees so it can curl thick hard to curl hair. the marcel clamp is harder to use though and takes practice
I thought that i have to find someone to help me curling my hair, but then i saw this vid im so happy :") but why is mine only curl at the end?
THIS WORKS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I just watched your video, and omg I did it!! Thank you so much!!!

1:46 - her hair is already curled
This method doesn't work for me.... I just end up with straight hair, anyone else?
yep me too
Olga Pasternak lol
you have to twist the hair after like she does
Olga Pasternak. Not me but i agree with you
Olga Pasternak go slow and don’t press so hard when pulling
Thank you! I've tried multiple tutorials before this one and now I finally get it. Really happy I didn't buy my new flat iron for nothing.
This is the first method I’ve found that consistently works on super thick hair! Thank you😊
The only part of my hair that will curl is the ends :(
My anxiety would have went from 0-100 if I put my hand so close to the straightener like that
+KayleyMelissa hi gurl....BIG FANN😀😘. Can you do a vid on how to use (tips or tricks)bobby pins .i suck at using them because i kinda have slippery hair. i have hundreds of them but always end up losing them because they slip out at the end of the day... Pls reply❤...
Spray the bobby pin with hairspray before putting it in your hair. It will help it stay in place.
She made two bobby pin 101 videos a few years ago with tips and tricks, and she recommends using meta grip bobby pins
I hope this helps 😊
I have been trying to learn how to use a hair straightners for a long time and have never had success but finally after watching your video I was able to learn with the easiest technique I have seen. You explain it so well with easy to follow instructions and finally I can use my new straightners to curl my hair. Might not be as fab as yours but I will get there. Thank you so much :)
We have a salon in our area that has had to close for the time being but they have posted this video for their clients to watch and learn!!!!!
