Does RAZR 2022 support 4K in ReadyFor? I tried with a type C to HDMI cable but there is only 1080p at max resolution. I am thinking of switching to another cable although the one I am using already claims to be able to support 8k60hz when devices on both ends support it.
I noticed "ready for" while copying files. All the pointless notifications from moto "how to" & not one mentioned of this. A phone reviewer mention it in brief, so I will take a look. I haven't had a new phone since my S6 lmao and prior to that I was a miss-guided Blackberry fan boy but BBblend was pretty cool so I like the premise of this.✌
I had experience with Samsung Dex only, all I can say is that if your Samsung is dex capable, you don't need a computer to make it work. Just connect the Samsung phone directly to the display monitor using a USB-C to HDMI cable adapter or hub (hub is recommended) and for typing you can either connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse or wired keyboard and mouse (hub is mandatory for wired keyboard and mouse)
@@thefumigator thank you! It's nice to have a features like that in a smart phone! I'm thinking of getting a Galaxy phone and make the switch from iPhone finally.
Both Motorola ready for and Samsung dex have their pros very few cons. I'm presently using both in order to use ready for you have to have a mid to high tier Motorola. Starting with the Moto g stylus 2024 which basically is the only g series Motorola that has it, almost all of the edge series has it. And for the Samsung dex it's only available for the Galaxy s series I believe starting with the Galaxy s9 All the way through the s24, along with the Galaxy fold series, and 98% of the Galaxy tab s6 to tab s9 series. Strangely enough it's not available on the Galaxy flip series
I may have overlooked the detail, but when you connect a Moto phone to a computer, is majority of the computing handled by the phone? The Samsung DeX experience, which partially relies on the computer's capabilities. I attempted to use an old Surface Pro 3 and an inexpensive monitor instead of purchasing a dedicated laptop dock that serves solely as a screen and keyboard. The experience was sub par being the Surface hardware is old compared to the Samsung S24 Ultra I use. I was exploring options to utilize the Surface laptop exclusively as a monitor, but it appears I didn't find a viable solution. My research suggests that this isn't possible.
From my experience, most of the processing is done on the phone. I say this because you can hook it up via USB to HDMI straight to a monitor with no desktop in between. I will launch the desktop mode and do everything just like the desktop mode within the Smart Connect Windows app. I briefly showed this in part 3 here: ruclips.net/video/6s7DE3M8Hbk/видео.htmlsi=ThK012UADLPTcw0P&t=516 Time stamped at 8:36 mark. When I used my old Sony VAIO with Smart Connect, the weak link was the wireless network speeds since the phone's pretty much streaming the video thru it. There was noticeable lag. When I used a direct USB data connection to Windows Smart Connect, the response was much snappier.
@@gruntgeartech Thank you for the information. I may need to verify, but it appears that Moto's Ready For could be comparable to DeX as both offer a desktop application. I recognize that connecting directly to a monitor via USB-C means the processing is entirely from the device; however, when connected to a computer, it appears to function similarly to a virtual machine. This is my current understanding, although I may need to confirm.
For the mobile desktop, you can set it to portrait mode. I tested this running mobile desktop inside a Windows 10 environment. If your windows desktop is in landscape, the portrait ready for / smart connect session will be windowed. But if your windows desktop is set as portrait, meaning your entire monitor is physically portrait, the readyfor / smart connect session will be full screen portrait. I have not tested a direct HDMI connect from phone to monitor though.
@@gruntgeartech u missunderstood me, i mean Portrait Mode with android without another environment. Just connect an Android Device with a Touchmonitor in Portrait Mode.

Will netflix and amazon prime play on the display device?
Not one review covers this over many years
I really like your video and your presentation of technical material is excellent.
Which one is better, ready for or samsung Dex?

nice review, thanks
I need a phone which connects to outer display. There is zero sense to me in using PC for this.
you can use a usb-c to hdmi cable to hook it up directly to a monitor.
