one of my best tips for really short women, and i've had 65 years to perfect it, is to keep your weight down. This is really important if you want to look good in clothes
I agree 100%. That's the hardest part. After 50, it becomes harder and harder and harder. I believe it becomes 80% diet and only 20% exercise. I'm trying to cut down on the junk food, sugar, highly processed foods and eat more salads, fruits, vegetables and if I can get organic produce, I will. I'm trying to eat more organic chicken and also work on getting a good 8-9 hours of sleep. I know that gets harder once menopause begins, but there's natural remedies for that too. Exercise is becoming more about variety of different exercises and switching it up all the time. I exercise for about 30 minutes Monday-Friday. I do cardio, strength training, HIIT, or high intensity interval training, circuit training, etc. Hope these tips help others.
This is soooooo true. I thought I was the only one who thought that. Agreed 200%
I agree! I am 5'1.5".....and when I weigh over 110 lbs I look chubby.
I am learning this now lol
I totally agree. I am keeping my weight down since I got to 60. The result is incredible. People say I looked a lit younger.
I learned how to sew when I was 6. I’m 4’11” and my mom is 4’9”. I am long waisted with short legs. I have to get regular pants and shorten every pair. Actually, I have to alter everything or make it myself. People think under 5’ doesn’t exist! Thank you for this 💙💙💙
That's cool! You learn at a very young age. ❤️ so glad you like my video!
Can't you buy trousers with different inside leg lengths. Here we have four different options in normal shops (27'', 29'', 31'' & 33'') and at 1.5m I find the 27'' is ideal for me.
@@musicandbooklover-p2o some do fit me, but my inseam is 24”. Cropped pants generally look too boxy on me because of the cut. Lately I’ve been wearing more dresses which are generally easier for me than pants.
@@tinkershell1856 That is short and unless you visit a shopping chain like Short or Tall then I don't think most shops, in Ireland at least, would go that short. I find the problem with dresses is that they don't do those in different skirt lengths so maxi dresses are draping on the floor while a midi length is still above my ankles (I wear maxi if I'm not wearing a kurta and trousers/maxi skirt). I've found the solution to that is simply making all my clothes myself, it has the advantage that by judicious application of darts tops fit me - unlike purchased ones which always strain over the bust - and I can taper trousers so that they are a 29" inside leg but don't drag on the ground (this way they don't ride up when sitting down) and skirts/dresses are always the right length.
Finally, someone who addresses this problem..I'm 4'10
IKR?!
4’ 9”, and yes. It IS a problem! I am a retired high school teacher, too! Lol! Big voice! 💕
4'11" here
4"10 here HAHA and I'm already 19😭
Looks like I’m still the shortest woman here. All my life it’s been this way!
OMGGG I found my people! 38 yrs old and the STRUGGLE. 4'11" and glad I found this channel. I want to look like a GROWN WOMAN lol
I’m petite, apple shaped, and the struggle is real!
Me too!!!! The struggle is hella real
I wore a bodycon dress to my 35th hs reunion…a RED one….BIG MISTAKE! I saw pictures of myself and wanted to die. Not flattering AT ALL. :( i looked 7 months pregnant
4'11" gang where you at :P
Here!
Count me in 👋😂
Well, I was 4’11 in high school but I shrank an inch....😳😕😔. It happens.
Here!
Right here!
So true! I am about 5'1" and the so-called petite fittings in dept store are still too long. 5'4" is not petite at all and is ignoring all the women who only 5' and under!
I'm petite, and I buy many outfits from the kids section! Bonus points for me because I can get matching outfits to twin with my 3yo daughter 😁
Love that!
Thanks for the information...I am 63 years old and 4' 11"............. I have sewn for 50 years and that really helps in taking things up and in:)
Great video! I'm 5' and just found your channel, I'm so happy :) I started learning to sew my own clothes at age 18, now I'm 36 and can make nearly everything myself. Still have to shorten every pattern and that can be a lot of work with more complex styles, but then I can use it as often as I wish and sewing has made my life so much easier!
Wonderful! So glad to hear Nria!
So ok, we are finally talking about real petites! Thank you 😊
I don’t think we should try to elongate at all costs... we are so obviously very short and there’s no fashion trick that helps that when we’re out in the real world (the one where someone 5’4” of 5’5” is allowed to consider themselves petite).
Why don’t we focus instead on how to adapt clothes to our shape and proportion?
- I buy regular crop pants, they’re perfect to be used as normal length ones
- tunics used as dresses
- mini skirts as knee length skirts
- never any dress in regular sizes that has a waist definition (it falls on my hips) and this is actually the biggest issue, not sleeves length nor trousers length
- shoes are nearly impossible to find, so i often have to go with whatever fits
Maybe some recommendation on where to shop?
And what about those of us who are not skinny or have a larger chest?
I don’t feel like I “have” to wear monochromatic looks (just isn’t me) or pointed toes shoes or skin-matching pieces... I would just feel like my own personality is erased in order to try to look taller, knowing that I never will no matter what.
Sorry, I know you have the best intention but I disagree with this whole idea that petites want to look taller, we want to wear something that fits us right and compliments our individual features and personality. We want to learn how to overcome the obstacles that force us to wear what fits rather than what we like.
Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback!
I am 4ft8 and 34f and omg I loved your comment !! At the end of the day , I don’t want to look taller but just normal clothes and shoes that I like to just fit ! I was already doing crop pants and mini skirt hacks and now I am gonna borrow ur idea of tunics for dress ! Thankyou !!
@@dishas Yes finally Someone else is the same height as me but older. Now I don't feel like I'm the only one in the world. I always get weird looks and people always asking about my age because I look like a child. Petite women will conquer the world!!!
Ashley Alti yayy! That’s a bonus , you age slow ;) you are not alone . There are so many Asians who are the same height . We jus don’t get represented enough in the media . You are cute , sexy and beautiful. Enjoy that 😉
I am 4 foot 10 inches and I am 54 years old. I have been struggling with clothes my whole life...and shoes...oh my, shoes...another story...🙄.. so now I buy what I like and if it doesn’t fit, then I alter it. Or have some one do it.
I never really followed the rules...and now at my age...I don’t care what people think about how I look, I wear what I like. I am put together and wear what I feel like that day, makeup and all..even doing my housework....lol.
I have three grown daughters , all of who have their fathers height...so they don’t struggle with the clothes they buy. They try their best when they shop with me, you know, to help find petite clothes but hey, if it’s cute then I will buy it. I usually I buy the regular size and alter it. I don’t try to fit into the world around me...I want to stand out..😊.
Thank you for your video because most “ petite” videos show woman who are at 5feet 2 inches or a little taller....at least you represent the real petite woman. You have a subscriber .
I love your videos and tips. I'm a petite 4'8 and I always struggle with style and fit. Your videos are helpful and makes me feel comfortable how to dress and still feel feminine and stylish.
I was always told not to wear long dresses. Now I will have to try it.
This video give me what was I actually looking for. I'm in my 20s and 4'9 ft so it's not just a video for me It's like a life saving video and you are my life saver. So thank you so much for this video 🤠. I really appreciate your hard work and efforts😃😃. I'm really thankful to you for this video from bottom of my hear ❤️❤️.
So glad you find it helpful!
I'm just 4"9 and i don't know what kind of dress should I wear because of my belly.i look like a mom when i put on a dress.thanks for all your videos😊
You are a living angel 😇💕 - great tips!.....I have noticed in your comment section - some disagreements. I would love to see a video made on how make it work, the alternatives for those who don't like heels, dresses, monochrome, etc. I know it may challenge your expertise but I know that you would be excited to break out of your comfort zone. I am someone who walks a lot, so heels and dresses aren't my lifestyle. Maybe make a video called - Walking Down The Street When You Are Petite! 💋
Excellent. I am under 5. I thought longer dress and jumpsuit is not good for me. Now I will try and get a pair. Thanks.
I just bought a jumpsuit. It looked great.
Regular size clothes look terrible on my 5ft frame but there are a lot of great petite brands that fit me very well! My problem is more my short torso, bigger bust line, and larger calves that makes shopping so hard :(
THANK YOU for saying that we should not be buying in the junior department! We are women, we are not little girls with no curves and undeveloped bodies. :)
I'm 5'1.5" but have a small, not petite frame. They make petite clothes for women with no bust (I'm DD) too. It's a no win situation! And the crotch in petite pants cuts into my important parts. So many issues ...
Great video!
That’s true. I’ll make another video on petites with large bust. That’s another challenge to find clothes to fit.
I am the same. 5’2 but an E cup. And large hips and shoulders, but a small waist. It really makes me hate shopping.
Totally get your issue 🙄. 4'10 here, with I-K cups (US sizing), broooad shoulders, and virtually no bottom half lmao. Shopping is a real bitch when you have to consider that "petite" in fashion. really means a short and narrow frame with small-average bust.
Same here
Learn to sew! The second-most important life lesson my mother taught me ( number 1 being toilet training) was basic sewing skills. I'm 68 years old and just under 5 feet tall, so I've spent my lifetime shortening sleeves and hems. I've saved a fortune in alterations charges. Hemming sleeves and pants and skirt hems is not difficult, it's just acquiring the necessary measuring and sewing techniques. If you're short, learn to sew!
I'm 4'8 .Thankyou for these tips. Very helpful. ❤️
Bless you! I’m 5ft 1/2” and your tips are helpful!
I'm so glad my video helped you! 🥰
Hie!
I just want to appreciate you for all the efforts you put. I know all the youtubers do that, but to actually be so thoughtful that is only done by you.
I watch vlogs of other petite stylists but no one thinks of putting up a video so detailed and this topic which you are considering of women with a lower height than 5 feet. Wow kudos to that😍😘😘😘😘😘
Love from INDIAAAAAAA!!
Thank you Surbhi!
I’m 4’9” 38 and I’m really mentally struggling with clothes and feeling good in them. It honestly is a chore to go clothes shopping at this height. Thanks so much for the helpful tips.
I am petite, and I love sleeves that come down over the knuckles as it's Warm as well as Trendy
I am so glad I found you wow your advice is just so spot on ... I am 62 and at 5’1” I have made so many mistakes with my wardrobe but ur advice is just wonderful ... thank you
Glad you find them helpful Nell!
I’m 4’11 and all I wear are leggings or skinny jeans with tunics. I never wear uncomfortable shoes. Comfort over vanity. Also helps to stay fit, which really help elongate.
And I'm 4'10. I do exactly the same like you.
I am petite but still can wear pants. I find jumpsuits a great alternative to maxi dresses for formal events because it can lengthen your frame. So dont be afraid of wearing pants!!
Thanks for sharing- I love jumpsuits!
Also, I went shoe shopping today and I remembered not to even consider ones with ankle straps!
Second comment: I do disagree with your comment about petite clothing not being good for women under 5 feet: At least they come closer, although it might take some looking. When it comes to pants, the rise in the petite pant is better than that on a regular-size pant. The next thing you would need to do is visit a tailor to shape and hem the leg. And let me say quickly that the hassle in all of this is why it is important to have five or six pants, all in the best natural fabrics you can afford! The rule for hemming is this: For every inch in length you remove, you remove one-half inch in leg width at the ankle, a quarter inch on each side. This retains the shape of the leg as originally designed, but of course you can shape the leg any way YOU want -- that is flattering on you. You turn the pant inside out, lay it on a table and draw a line from the crotch, equally on both sides of the pants, down to the points you made at the hem -- and then take that much in at the seams. This rule holds true whatever leg shape you are talking about. All in all, you really offer great tips: I appreciate you!
Thank you for sharing so many wonderful tips Christina!
I agree about buying petite sizes. My favorite stores from which to buy clothes are Talbot's and Loft because their petite clothes come in very small sizes, such as 00 petite from Loft and extra small petite from Talbots, and they often have them in the store so you can try them on. If they don't, they will order the right size for you. I used to buy petites from Dillard's and Macy's, but it seems that now they don't have much in extra small petites, at least not in the stores so you can try them on.
Forgot to say that I am 4'11' and about 92 pounds.
You are the best around. Thank you for this video!🥰❤
Thank you Bonnie!
you look elegant and pretty, who cares if i am 5 feet or 6 feet its all about self confidence. I am only 5-1" and I really dont care. But I totally understand what you are saying sometimes its a struggle for certain things. Maxi dresses is the most challenging for me even petite size is long and I have to take it to tailor.
It’s all about confidence!
The tips of the shoes .... incredible love it
LOVE THE TIPS ....I went to declutter my closet after watching your videos ...You may have already covered this BUT suggestions for stores with a affordable petite selection would be helpful
Hi Felicia- I found Banana Republic have some reasonably priced petite selection that fits well, and also check out Jcrew Factory which also has a petite selection!
This video had some great tips. I think I am 4'11" or 5'. When jumpsuits came back into fashion, I kept buying them and I have 8 now. I liked how they looked and I didn't even know why! I also liked that they looked nice without being too dressed up, and were more comfortable and easier to wear for an active day than a dress.
Glad you like it Zoe! I love jumpsuits too!
Where would you buy your jumpsuits? Is there a particular good retailer
I totally agree with much of what you are saying (and it is worse if you are under 1.5m and on the large size) but trousers are ONE item that this doesn't affect - here at least. When you shop for trousers/slacks (pants in the US) they are sold in different leg lengths. 27", 29" regular (31"), and 33" inside leg measurements. And that is in regular shops and supermarkets not just specialist suppliers.
I have solved the problem and just make everything for myself, much easier to ensure things fit me.
Good to hear that! ☺️
Thank you for that ankle straps tip
Makes a big difference
That's funny because I have some ankle straps that I'm told, look good and I feel good in them, but they do have pointy toes. If they were flat and ankle strapped that's a different story!
I am 4'11 and sweaters are fine but the pants are the problem :(
Amazing video Chi. I like how you match the colors to a outfit and it stands out more and I like the blue top and skirt combination. I love a good pointy toe heel and that is important to wear them to look more elegant with the outfit. Thank you so much Chi and your videos are enjoyable to watch. Have a lovely weekend. 💖❤🤗
Thank you love!
Just found your channel, and love it! No one I know understands how frustrating it is to fit juniors clothes 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I'm 4'8". I use to be 4'11". I'm 69. I've lost 3 inches and it's incredibly hard to find clothes. I've gotten wider too which doesn't help but yes things usually have to be tailored.
I think a lot of the advice is not about looking taller, but looking in proportion. Which is good.
Thank you for addressing ladies of 5ft and under.
Your videos are always great!! I always learn so much, and you are very entertaining and likable!
Thank you love!
Loving the color of your sweater!
Hi ladies! How many here are 4’8” 😅?
i am and I hate it. Also have size 1 shoes and thats a major problem
@@johannelynden-james1893 check out website Cinderella of Boston. They have shoes sizes 1-5.5 for women.
im 4'9 and 13 :(
I feel ya
I am and I have always felt frustrated with my clothing. This is a very helpful video. Thank you🥰
Thank you for all the great advice! Some of this I knew already, but there are a few things I'm going to try now - for example, I've always steered away from long dresses and one-pieces, thinking they wouldn't be flattering on me b/c I'm short, but I will definitely give them another try next time I have the opportunity to try some on. I've tried the pointy-toe shoe thing, but this style of shoe is simply not flattering for my body type. I'm a 5' tall hourglass, with fairly broad shoulders for my size and a narrow chest/rib cage but a large bust (for my size). And my calves are on the shapely/muscular side. When you look at me as a whole, the pointy toes make it look like all the curviness comes to a taper at the bottom and it doesn't look very attractive. Wider toe shoes are actually much more flattering. I guess they just balance out my upper half better. I've gotten a good amount of compliments when wearing Crocs, believe it or not. Someone said, "You're one of, like, 5 people in the world whose legs look good in Crocs". LOL. Strangely, people tell me all the time that I'm not short. Every time I go to the doctor's office, I'm measured at 5 feet exactly. However, most people don't believe it unless they measure me. Or sometimes I have them look at me next to other people, some of whom they originally think I'm taller than, at which point they say "Oh. Yeah, I guess you are shorter." I've even had people with a good 10 inches on me stand next to me and tell me I'm not short. Usually when this happens, I try to find a mirror so they can look at us next to each other and then again, it's "Oh." LOL. I do have long legs in relation to my torso, so it must be an optical illusion of some sort.
Thanks for sharing with me! For the hourglass, best toe shape is rounded toe, or peep-toe, they are more in harmony with your curves.
I'd like to see a video about how to wears dresses all year long, I'm trying... but not succeeding and always end up in Jeans, especially in everyday life.
As a petite with fat feet and tiny (read: easy crack) ankles, I match my shoe to the surface above it. Ex: if I do bare leg, my strap heels or my boot is nude, and the rare occasion I wear skinnies, my shoe color is close in depth to that of the skinnies
Just bought a pair of jeans at rosses in the junior section. Ross has weird sizing. A size 2 looks like a 6. The pants look awesome on me and fit perfectly. Don't look childish at all so there are exceptions. I stay away from the cutesy shirts though!
Glad you find something that works! yes- pants are easier to find in junior department that tops or dresses.
I am 4'10 and I dress feminine and masculine.I shop from both section.Mostly just hoodie and short pants cuz nothing can fit the length of my leg and my thick thighs 💀
Shopping for pants is my worse nightmare,I never own a pants i really like.Giordano do carry good pants for me but it is kinda expensive.
Most short pants also really long for me.Under my knees!!! I feel cheated when buying pants all the time because the model's pictures look short but they actually 5'5-'5'7
I like you lady! You give some really good dressing tips for people of dainty stature! Thank you. P.S. Although I am 100% Caucasian, my son is 1/8 Chinese. Also a quarter Hawaiian. I thought this might interest you.
Oh thank you Nora!
I have found petite pants are too short in the crotch length especially the back crotch length. Misses pants fit me better but then of course I have to hem them. No big deal because I sew all my clothes.
I feel the same way and that’s because I have a long rise.
Am 18 and am a girl and am 5.feet and i love basketball and soccer.
your tips are the best! truly life changing. God bless u
Another great video full of your wisdom and good advice, thank you so much Chi! I wanted to say how gorgeous your hair is.... it looks beautiful and sooo shiny in this video, really glossy and healthy, lushious! 😘💋❤
Hi, Olivia!! No, Thanks to you! So glad! ✨💖✨
Thanks for the tips but what about tips for petites 5’ and under. Especially women over 50 or 60 years old - 150-160 lbs.

Hello maam, I am 4' 7" newbie here! Watching from Philippines.❤
Welcome!!
Me too🙄
I just found out pointed toe shoes are so much more comfortable the round toes, my super tiny size 3 or 4 feet don't slide to the toe area. and I found the brand Naturalizer has a lot of pointed toe shoes in real size 4 (21cm)
Thanks for sharing Jasmine!! I love Naturalizer shoes too!
So many helpful tips! Thanks Chi.🥰
Actually these tips are the same for anyone who wanna appear taller lol. I am taller than 5 feet but I use some of these tips myself to appear taller.
Many thanks for your suggestions. Have a great weekend.
You are very welcome Denise!
I'm 5'0". I've recently started buying from the GIRLS department, and I'm in my 30s. Less likely to look like a teenager! No really, I'm just buying dresses from the girls. I am the size of size 14 girls. I like buying matching stuff for me and my daughter...
Thanks for sharing!!
Same recently evenings bought a matching dress for my daughter and myself
those flat suede pointed toe shoes are really nice. I can't get with heels for casual, every day wear.
Love this. Story of my life
Ok, those shoes you show (the ones you recommend) are fine if you are under 50 years old. Try being a senior citizen and wearing some of those shoes. My friend's are all retired, don't go out to fancy restaurants etc. and some of my friend's are under 5' 2" (myself included)
I wish you would show other shoe styles that older short women can wear.
We also walk to bus stops and sometimes have to stand (not always a bus bench) and you try standing in pointy toe shoes for very long while waiting for a bus. Too uncomfortable. Some of us have tennis shoes (round toe) that have a little wedge or little platform, but no high heels for sure and no pointy toe shoes!!
Thank you
Such great advice!
This was very helpful!!!!! Thank you!!!! 😀🧡
❤❤❤your channel
I found some nice bootcut jeans at Zara that fit well but I had to cut 7" off the hem!!

Length of the pants, thats what I always altered from the tailor. 4'11 here😌
😃 Yes, I Agree 100% with you !! I’m 5 Foot Tall and I’m 49 year’s old !!!! Also, brawls can be a problem !! For short stature women, when you’re Big chested and it does not fit me correctly those Brawls, To big in certain areas for the brawl ,painful, comfortable !!!!
While I am not under 5' (I'm 5'2"), I still appreciate many of the points you made! However, FYI, I lost the video when you introduced a different video you had made and I could not figure out how to get the first video back to finish it.
I have two problems. I am 4’11” and curvy , I have to taylor Everything !!
I understand...It is really hard to shop for petites with curves.
Exactly! I'm 4 foot 11 and 240 pounds I'm big and short nothing fits right ever on me.
Hi Girl. I'm also 5 2" with a round face :) I love your channel. I just had my colour analysis done, and I'm a cold winter type. This changed the way how I dress. What type are you, as I can see you are wearing all warm and cold?

This is the story of my life. I'm 147 cm
i am 4'9'' plz tell me how i style my mid rise flared denim ?plz tell.
Hi, for flare jeans, you want to wear it with a fitted top, because the leg shape has some volume. For the most flattering looks, you can wear them with heels for the even more leg-elongating effect.
thnx for tips
Thank you.
I am 4'10 and my upper and lower body seem to have the equal length, could you tell me if I wear short tops, where the tops should be lined down around the belly area? I don't feel right about the length of my tops should show, either too long or too short, either way i don't look right ...
If you are comfortable with shorter tops, you can go above the hips or even shorter- those lengths are the easiest the style to look good on petites!
I'm 4'11", I don't have problems finding clothes fit me because I have good tailoring skill and make most of garments myself, but I do have a huge problem is my super small feet size 3, so I almost never can find shoes have style and size I need.
Lucky you ,that you can sew. But having such small feet 😐I'm 4'11 but have big feet! Sz 7 or 8!

I work out on a daily basis, and stretch but I can’t get my body to be a cute short body!!!😞
Can you teach me for 151 cm how styles clothes and I’m looking curvy and brown skin

@@PetiteDressing for 40+ ..🤗
Being five foot two having been 5 foot 4 old age I have shrunk in the upper part of my body so my torso is not as long as it used to be I'm very long wasted. The question that I have is what is considered inappropriate above-the-knee for an older woman ? I do have nice legs being an inverted triangle they're short but they're very nicely shaped I do wear City shorts above-the-knee which is nice I'm just curious if in more formal dress if that is still appropriate for a woman to wear a short skirt I don't want to come across like I'm trying to be 16 even though that would be fun LOL
Hi Karla- if you are totally confident showing your legs, do not let the age stop you! Knee length or above the knee are both fine, as long as the rest of your outfit look elegant and put together!
I love your videos! Your so adorable !
What do you have inside your tall boots (to keep their shape) and where do you buy it?
I have so much trouble with arm lenghs on most coats .
Hi, I'm your new subscriber, I would like to know where did you get that white jacket with blue kind of ruffles and where do you normally shop? Btw, I'm 5' tall
I'm barely 5ft, I understand the problem lol. I have to roll up sleeves and hem petite pants because I have a 26 inch inseam
For 5 ft, 26 inch inseam seems to imply your legs are quite long!
