- Someone has to do it! It might as well be AutoBuzz! Ever since the “drag race” held by Proton - X50 against the BMW X1 and Honda HR-V at Sepang Circuit, it left everyone asking… Can the X50 actually outrun a BMW (both with 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo engine)? Today’s the day, we going to find out once and for all for you guys! You can sleep well tonight... Or maybe not.

I would like to suggest doing multiple tries for the drag race to make the results more accurate and perhaps add a rolling race for an extra dose of entertainment as well as realism.🔥🔥🔥
Things that should be included:
- Sound test
- 400m Drag race (2 times) with a timer
- Rolling race (normal & sportiest mode)
- Brake test (110-0 kmh)
To add more, maybe we can suggest crash test, drop test, explosion test, diving test, urine test.. kidding bro.. kidding.. 😎😎

Saya dah miliki x70 cbu dan pada tahun ni bulan 6 hari tu dapat x50. Sejujurnya x50 terasa performancenya dan pick up lain macam. Serious mantap. Tapi abang dia x70, more to comfort drive. Dalam x70 much more senyap berbanding x50. But x50 menang in term of pick up... mantap teruk. Dua dua kereta best bagi saya...

@@jampiserapah x50 ni saya cakap jujur ea. Kalau Tuan sudah ada kemampuan. Fuel Consumption ni bukan lagi masalah pada diri tuan. Pakai X50 setakat isi minyak RM 70 tak terasa pun mahal.
Tapi since Tuan jenis mementingkan Fuel Consumption, i will say go for Ativa. Yang tu fuel comsumption okay nak berbanding dengan X50. Kalau ada kemampuan, X50 tu bukan penghalang bagi Tuan untuk memilikinya.

I mean technically in a drag race, we need to brake boost to get the best results if the car doesn't have launch control. So the time quite far of might be because of that.

Is is well expected HRV will lead, because of the 1.8L NA. X50 1.5L will have turbo lag at the beginning , once it is up to a certain speed turbo will work.

I would like to know if the X1 was set at Power or Comfort mode? Nothing was mentioned about default driving mode set for each car during the drag race or can I assumed it was at its fastest mode? If yes then kudos to the X50 for out accelerating the BMW X1 for the same engine displacement and being turbocharged.
X1 is just too damn heavy

Just a bit of correction. The title says runway, but you're actually racing on the taxiway, not the runway.
Any non-sports car if you slam the throttle, it will be like are you sure? Then only it goes. Plus the turbo-lag also made the X1 and X50 slower at launch compared to HRV. Suppose to have enabled the rev-build launch
My x1 has 228 hp standard. They must be in comfort mode

Another factor to consider is this is done at a very hot day which would significantly hurt performance.
Eh? Didn't hot day is better for drag race because the grip of the tire improve with temperature?
@@gungrave10 in European countries it helps because their hot day is around 25C
Not here as our hot days are approx 40C on that runway if there is a heatwave.
Your engine works much harder in these conditions and would really dull performance.
Fuel would be at a hotter temp, as is the intake temperature. All contributing to worse performance.
Even if the day is hot, its still a fair test.as all 3 cars are exposed to the same 'hotness'

why dont u guys do 3 categories which using normal mode then eco mode then sport mode. u guys also can add from 50km/h to 200 km/h drag race and lastly braking test. just some ideas

I wouldn't surprise X50 win the drag race but I surprise the HRV doing well with only little bit slower than the turbocharged counterparts. Btw X50 on paper is 7.9 sec for the century sprint but in reality it was almost 2 sec slower.
Fyi I've even tested the Proton X50 in real life. Best time i could get to 100 is around 8.5 secs. But still far away from the claimed numbers :/
@@Has7DCT For turbocharged car usually having turbolag and some can be very bad. But it doesn't mean the car is slow coz once the turbo kick in it can run really fast. I watched many X50 video and many RUclipsrs said X50 is powerful but it has slightly big turbolag issue. That's why standstill 0-100km/h may not be very satisfied result. But rolling start X50 will gain much better result.

Kia seltos with the spec they brought into Malaysia, it can never win against any of the vehicle you've listed above. Unless they bring the top spec other country are enjoying.

@@omarhashim8219 On 27/8 Honda Malaysia announce HRV 1.5 hybrid and price is RM 114k. Honda has a practice while they are revising the selling price they will take down the model from official website. Maybe this makes you thought they remove the hybrid variant since they remove from their line up earlier. But on 27/8 until now HRV hybrid is available on their official website.

The HRV accelerated better because of the torque converter. The X1's & X50's engine initially has to throttle back a bit to reduce damage to the clutch before giving full power when the clutch fully engages
But honda cvt always got problem and expensive to replace to new gearbox

X1 20i will surely tapau the other 2 cars. But meaningless to compare since the price of 20i is sum of HRV + X50 both in high spec variant.
X50 owners that think they can simply tapau an X1 better look at the badge behind the car especially where there are so few 1.5L X1s around. The X1 20i will eat the X50 for breakfast.

Proton X50 has a minor TURBO LAG 😂
HRV able to jump at the start, because of NA and lightness, while 2 other car need to wait for turbolag...and i bet they dont brake boost their X1 and X50...
But overall, both X50 and X1 are fast cars though
HRV got a headstart since it has a CVT tranny. CVT = instant and consistent torque.
But, X50 won thanks to it being light and having a lot of power to it
Not all cvt is good bro example the proton cvt is sucks of the line but when it's on boost ya bye2 lah the Honda is only good on start cause the cvt is responsive so that's why it has a great start Toyota one is medium one lah but the Dcvt gearbox is much better then the normal one cause is more revvined
