  • While docked in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic I decided to do the Coconut Cove Excursion which included a 1 hour drive each way on a bumpy dirt road.
Coconut Cove had a lot of things to do, including snorkeling, zip-lining, volleyball, and kayaking. They also serve lunch on this excursion which consists of chicken, rice, beans, spaghetti and salad - Nothing to rave about though.
The free/included drinks were all syrupy and very sweet.
Overall beautiful area on the island with lots of activities; however some were turned off by the drive, food and drink options.
I wouldn't return, but for my first time at this port I was fine seeing more of the island this way, as well as relaxing and enjoying the view and beach at the cove.

When you say the ride was bumpy were you bouncing out of your seats from the bumpiness?

Well we were only on the main road for 10 minutes out of the hour drive...and we all were wearing our seatbelts. Not literally bumping out of our seats, but a very uncomfortable ride for an OK beach area. There is so much to do right at the Port, on my next stop to Puerto Plata I'm planning to stay right in the Taino Bay free area and relax there. It was nice to see outside of the port though - just not the best excursion
