    Good to hear the Bristol VR and Leyland National engines. Remember buying day tickets as a kid just to ride round on Stagecoach's last examples in Basingstoke, alongside the last Leyland Olympian's there. Now we just have the standard Enviro 200/300's and the Enviro200MMC's

    Great nostalgic video. I had forgotten that VRs were step entrance, thinking all were flat floor.

    The bus company I grew up with was the West Yorkshire Road Car Company (WYRCC) and they had a very similar fleet to this of Leyland Nationals and Bristols, The Lodekka's were almost done when I was small but I remember the VR's very well. Lovely red buses and great memories of them.

      When my interest started around 1978, I still had 3 more years of FS and FLF Lodekka's at Ipswich

    • @GuyArab
      @GuyArab 2 года назад +1

      @@BristolRE West Yorkshire Road Car had two FSF buses, but they didn’t last long and were soon swapped by taking two of United Auto’s FS version Lodekkas. Incidentally, did you know United’s territory used to extend into Norfolk and Suffolk?

    I must have travelled on these when I lived at Kesgrave back in the mid-80's when I was attending Ipswich college. I have fond memories of the VR's. It's a nice video; good to see them in action.

    These buses 🚍 are very good 👍 condition to passengers that use the bus 🚎. Bristol VR are double decker buses 🚌 and Leyland National buses 🚍 are single decker buses 🚌. Unfortunately they aren’t low floor buses 🚍. 🙂

    The flat screens couldn't have lasted much longer, they'd gone their money's worth out of them keeping them until 1990. Badgerline and Western/Southern National had nearly all series IIIs left by then

    • @BristolRE
      @BristolRE  2 года назад

      The flat screens were gone by 1998 when I started, but as you say, probably not much longer after this video was filmed
