That being said, there are some that you can’t seem to get because the legendary animals are in black water, which is still blocked for me.

I found moose at cairn lake. I use these trick: place herbivore bait and then I went up the hills that is near the cairn lake. Don’t focus on the bait just climb up the hill facing away and make sure you are at the other side of the hill and climb back on top. Use scope rifle and the moose should spawn.❤

May 19th 2024 and this still works! The only issue I had was the first two times the moose was a 2 star but because you set the camp up where he says too, the third time I loaded up it was a 3 star. Thanks man, crazy this worked

It worked for me on 25/May/2024. It only worked with sunny weather. I got the 2 star moose first, then I fast traveled like the video, but I'm confident that a reload would work just fine. That's because when I came back I did the reload a few times and got 2 or 3 star wolves at every reload. In the end I spooked a wolf and made the spin 7 times or so and I got the 3 star moose to show up. But they never showed up in snowy weather. I also didn't wait 30 ingame days away from Colter, I was there recently trying to get the moose on Cairn Lake (with no success)

Here is my case; it didn't work. I went to Lake Isabella. Then I returned to Colter on horseback and not with the fast travel. I slept until early morning. I finally went to the hunting area, the thick fog annoyed me. No Moose, I turn around and count down from 10 to 0. 180 degrees towards the ledge and there a male Moose awaits me. The rest is obvious. As always, when I returned to the site later, no longer needing this game, it was present everywhere! What injustice 😜
If the moose is 2 star then scare it away like with the wolves, then keep turning around and counting, eventually after a few tries mine turned into a 3 star, if it isn't spawning then do what I discovered, go back to where you dismounted your horse, make sure it day then save your game and reload, it should be there and ifit isn't then turn around and count again. I do all of this stuff and every time I go there and do these I get a moose, Hope this helped.

Moose are quite rare even in real life, and the fact that you are always in America doesn’t help, (besides guarma) Moose are more a Canadian species, very few are in America.
For anyone who could not get the moose to spawn and nearly have thrown their their controller out the window like me try this strategy. It made me able to find both the male and female moose within 20 minutes 1. Go to the back right of map where the legendary moose spawns near brandywine drop and see if you can spot one, there’s usually 5 different spawn points for them but they’re mostly either in the trees just right of the river at the train tracks where the island is or to the left side when looking down on brandywine drop (which on the map is the right side but you’ll be looking down on the left make sure your at the top though to increase your chance of spawning it) 2. If no luck fast travel to St Denis and set up camp just outside sleep 2 times then save and load game and sleep another 2 times then save and reload once more and sleep until morning if not already 3. Once it’s morning fast travel to annesburg and travel to the left hand side of this dam (DO NOT TRY AND LOOK FOR IT JUST YET TRUST ME) once your at the left side of the dam set up a camp and save then reload (don’t sleep as I’ve found they mostly spawn between 9am-12pm), once you’ve done this your free to hunt both spots but don’t go on horse as it usually scares the moose’s away I know this isn’t the greatest way and has quite a good few awkward steps to it but every time I have tried it, it has worked and is better and faster than sitting staring at a spot for 3 hours constantly laying bait If you need any further help let me know Good luck
I had a Timber wolf on my main horse, a black bear pelt on my temporary horse which was a black arabian I got from saint denis. Was using herbivore bait on cairn lake about 5 times got the moose 3 stars but also attracted horse. I ended using that attracted horse put the moose pelt on it and on my way to the trapper my black arabian entirely disappeared. I loaded a backup save but lost the moose pelt loading that save. Riding with 3 horses is buggy and this game hates fun there’s a lot of bugs regarding when you find little ways to make extra money

I thought maybe I counted wrong, so after trying to count silently like you suggested for the first several tries, I started counting loudly that my neighbor next door suspected I was playing hide and seek with some ghost. Or is it because I already killed the Mooses at Cairne Lake and Lake Isabella?
Saw a similar although not as thorough tutorial that said if you shot the moose it’d respawn every 3 days. That is so wrong. As stated in this video: 30 days.
WTH?!?! The moose appeared on the third try, I killed it and ran to it and was unexpectedly mauled by a wolf next to the moose. What are the odds??? 😭. Luckily the moose was there again on the fourth try.

Another guaranteed spawn I’ve found is Brandywine Drop in Roanoke. There’s videos explaining it.
