I found moose at cairn lake. I use these trick: place herbivore bait and then I went up the hills that is near the cairn lake. Don’t focus on the bait just climb up the hill facing away and make sure you are at the other side of the hill and climb back on top. Use scope rifle and the moose should spawn.❤

That being said, there are some that you can’t seem to get because the legendary animals are in black water, which is still blocked for me.

May 19th 2024 and this still works! The only issue I had was the first two times the moose was a 2 star but because you set the camp up where he says too, the third time I loaded up it was a 3 star. Thanks man, crazy this worked

I’ve been trying to get the camp fully upgraded before finishing chapter 2. Just needed the antlers. Stumbled upon this and did just what you said after hours of searching. Got to the point and saw nothing. I turned around like you said and thought “yeah right like this is gonna work”. I instantly turned around and saw it. Needless to say that moose took all 14 rounds I had in my Lancaster repeater to its dome piece. Thanks again

It worked for me on 25/May/2024. It only worked with sunny weather. I got the 2 star moose first, then I fast traveled like the video, but I'm confident that a reload would work just fine. That's because when I came back I did the reload a few times and got 2 or 3 star wolves at every reload. In the end I spooked a wolf and made the spin 7 times or so and I got the 3 star moose to show up. But they never showed up in snowy weather. I also didn't wait 30 ingame days away from Colter, I was there recently trying to get the moose on Cairn Lake (with no success)
Moose are quite rare even in real life, and the fact that you are always in America doesn’t help, (besides guarma) Moose are more a Canadian species, very few are in America.

If it doesn't work for you, I know this sounds stupid, but I swear going in first person made it spawn almost everytime regardless of the time of day for me. (occasionally a grey wolf or 2 star)

Dude. Thank you. I tried doing this after hammering Cairn lake and it wasnt working. Even though 5i was camping overnight and doing save/loads I was noticing that my footprints were still in the snow. I fast traveled to rhodes and did a few side things over there. Then slept for like 1 week. I would sleep as long as I could until it wouldnt let me sleep. Then I would fast travel somewhere else and repeat until it was around a week later. I then fast traveled to colter around 11 or 12. When i got to the point where he shows, there was no moose there I turned around for 8 seconds and turned back and it wasn't there. Then I did it again and BOOM 3 stars western bull moose. My binoculars weren't letting me study it. I went to put on cover scent and accidentally put down potent herbivore bait and all of a sudden it came running over right to me. I quickly put on cover scent and walked up the hill slightly. Once he was in position I studied him and then took aim with a nice headshot. Off to the trapper I go!!

This is one of those videos that seems like there’s no way it could work…and then it does. First try I got a moose to spawn (had to turn around 3 or 4 times but it did spawn). First one was only a two star. Killed it hoping that MAYBE my legendary buck trinket would make it 3 star. No luck. I fast travelled away and back again. Moose spawned again and this time it was a 3 star. The first moose carcass that I killed was still there and it still spawned. Had two skinned moose side by side. Also I thought it was worth mentioning that it doesn’t matter if you’ve been to Colter recently before trying this. Hella thanks for this video
If the moose is 2 star then scare it away like with the wolves, then keep turning around and counting, eventually after a few tries mine turned into a 3 star, if it isn't spawning then do what I discovered, go back to where you dismounted your horse, make sure it day then save your game and reload, it should be there and ifit isn't then turn around and count again. I do all of this stuff and every time I go there and do these I get a moose, Hope this helped.
I had a Timber wolf on my main horse, a black bear pelt on my temporary horse which was a black arabian I got from saint denis. Was using herbivore bait on cairn lake about 5 times got the moose 3 stars but also attracted horse. I ended using that attracted horse put the moose pelt on it and on my way to the trapper my black arabian entirely disappeared. I loaded a backup save but lost the moose pelt loading that save. Riding with 3 horses is buggy and this game hates fun there’s a lot of bugs regarding when you find little ways to make extra money
Here is my case; it didn't work. I went to Lake Isabella. Then I returned to Colter on horseback and not with the fast travel. I slept until early morning. I finally went to the hunting area, the thick fog annoyed me. No Moose, I turn around and count down from 10 to 0. 180 degrees towards the ledge and there a male Moose awaits me. The rest is obvious. As always, when I returned to the site later, no longer needing this game, it was present everywhere! What injustice 😜

I found it first try but it was a 2 star... i reduced the moose into atoms, i blew it up, i lit it on fire, and then sprayed it with bullets

Funny thing I've had the best luck up by that area finding moose sure it's not like an elk but they do spawn up there
