After now changing tack to use synthetic underquilts for a wet UK winter, instead of my goose down quilts, I opted to try the budget friendly ONETIGRES company. I purchased their Kompound hammock, and fitted it out with a couple of their underquilts (separate video).
Not having tested it out at any length will attempt to give my honest opinion, bearing in mind, all products are bought by my self, and have no affiliation with the company, meaning nothing is sent to me for free for review purposes. HIT OR MISS find out in the=is video, from a hammock hanger of some experience.....bexbugoutsurvivor

Good suggestion and reasoning behind the way you attach the carabiner to the end loops - definite food for thought, there. Many thanks.

My 8 foot hammock fits a treat using this technique. Thanks for watching.

A good review for a piece of kit I’ve been pleased with since getting it on Prime Day at a fantastic price. An under quilt is now needed here in Virginia.

I've said it before, but Bex, You Are THE Best reviewer on RUclips. Enjoyed that, I'm knackered and it made me feel like hunkering down - a bit of rain on canvas and I'd have been asleep!
All the very best to you and yours 👍 👍 👍 🍻

Rain on canvas is the best sound in the world. Once downloaded sounds of the jungle on my player to help me sleep in the absents of real rain. Kept me up all night, with baboons howling and crickets screeching and toads croaking...lol

      @@bexbugoutsurvivor 😂 😂 😂 You should've bought the sound of the sea/waves on the beach 🏖 like I did - didn't help me sleep either 😂😂😂

I see a marked difference between Brit and Colonial fieldcraft gear reviewers but one yank I just found really is a gem, Shugemery, he's one crazy guy and he wouldn't be out of place in the UK lol.

I've had this hammock a while (it took over duty from my Tenth Wonder Green Hornet 2 layer double zip which I've had for a good few years), and from day one have not been happy with it. I've done 3x2 night trips in it. Firstly the ridgeline. It's simply not strong enough to be used as a structural ridge line. The little carabiner failed on mine whilst trying to get the right sag in the hammock. I replaced the whole ridge line with one made from thin dyneema (from Henge Hammocks) and then the stitching split where the line enters the bug net. I've also replaced the cordage that gathers the ends with dyneema loops and use dyneema whoopie slings for suspension. I was also disappointed that it's difficult to get a diagonal lay as the hammock is short. If you do want a diagonal lay (it's not impossible) then the "cover"/insulation can't be used at all as it's just too narrow once zipped in. I've also found that due to the design, the bug net ends up taking a lot of tension. I'm surprised it hasn't split. As a starter hammock it isn't bad, and will get you on the ladder, but it's not for serious use. I do like their top quilt though, but not the under quilts, as they are cut wrong for my sleeping style. I've been using the Snugpak UQ since I started, and have just got the Onewind 0C UQ for my next trip out.
My Kompound has been retired now as I have the Easy Hammock Classic (uninsulated) to use from now on. That's a quality bit of gear.

Things like ridgeline and suspension & continuous loops & biners are things that most people upgrade on ANY hammock. The cut of the Night Protector quilt is NOT been designed for a diagonal lay, but a straight line lay. Onegigres make a rectangle quilt called the TREKKER which is for a diagonal lay. For a newbie its a good first hammock, and very comfy if used with the correct quilt. My hammock choice for a diagonal lay is my Dutchware Hexon 1.6 11 foot hammock, but comes stripped down, so continuous loops and SRL and suspension are add ons, making this a choice not really suitable for a newbie.....b

Looks interesting Bex. Lots of nice features. A double bottom to accommodate a pad would have been good too. Not a fan of this company but it does look good

It seems Onetigres seems to have up their game (For budget kit) I have tried pad sleeping with hammock, lots of moisture build up and is never as warm as quilts imo. How ever I will persevere with pads, as it would allow to ground rat in the absence of trees. Got my eye on the Haven hammock tent which requires a pad....b

I started off looking at a Nightcat set up but google lead to google and I'm fairly sure I'm getting an Overmont or Covacure hammock, modifications planned to complement existing carry and I don't have £100 to begin this journey haha.

I started off with a ten quid hammock, a yoga pad and a sleeping bag. I then tested budget kit only to be disappointed, and ended up paying thousands on goose quits. So maybe test out with a cheap hammock and yoga pad first, Ontigres would be my next step in your situation....I have nigh camp videos on yoga pad hammocking too....

Amazon's a major rip-off. I bought a hammock direct from onewind's website because the same onewind hammock on Amazon was heavily overpriced - and you can bet that all that extra money isn't going to Jeff's underpaid, overworked and unappreciated employees.

The ridgeline is adjustable, and will extent to about 9 foot.
