  • I DIDN'T KNOW THE RESULTS AT THE START OF THIS VIDEO., LETS FIND OUT TOGETHER,
Popular advice is heavy kit packed close to your back, but advice years ago was very different, but pertained to external frame rucks. My experiment is to combine the old thinking, with a vintage internal frame pack
LIGHT KIT PACKED LOW & HEAVY KIT PACKED HIGH DOES IT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE.....? MY FINDINGS

This in not a method I usually use, but the old skool advice had me curious. My other more modern packs are loaded (loose fill) more like out cousins across the pond, while trekking multi nights covering many miles, and is far lighter than this set up, using more modern pieces of kit.

I was taught to pack the heavy stuff up high nearly 50 years ago and went through my military career doing it that way. Still do it like that although to be fair I mostly camp near my car these days so not a lot of humping required. Keep bringing us your views.

i think it largely depends on the backpack you have, personally i have never in 30 years packed my bergen based on weight, ... my system probably stems from my infantry days ... packing order being based on what i'm likely to need first or most frequently.
when ever i get told i'm doing something wrong, i tend to lose interest, there are lots of experts out there with very little actual experience.
