Very few players in history and I would argue none rivaled his offensive play making and his insane defensive skill. Some of his stats aren’t even traceable, him being on the ice and creating opportunities for other team mates. Super talented and I believe the greatest total hockey player ever. No weakness in his game, he handed out some big hits too.
Best NHL Player I've Seen in my Life! Way Better than Gretzky! I still say it's true today! I just had a recent birthday in my upper 50's and Datsyuk is the the best!
This man is my favorite player I’ve ever seen. I need his jersey I’m a Detroit native but he is ridiculous. I’m 26 and a hockey player but he is an absolute legend
To rectify I’ve always been a wings fan. I have a howe, yzerman, konstantinov, probert, and zetterberg, didn’t have my size for a datsyuk when I looked.
I don’t think people understand how good datsyuk seriously was. He, in terms of overall ability in the O and D zone, could be top 5 all time. Skill wise, I’d say top 3
Timmy Johnson the Undoubtedly best puck handler of all time. Top 3 defensive forward of all time. A force to be reckoned with offensively. He has to be in the top 10 greatest players of all time conversion. I don’t think anyone besides the greatest of the greats (Gretzky, Lemeiux etc.) had as much god given ability as Datsyuk.
Gary Thorne calling Datsyuk plays on TV gives me goosebumps every time. It's almost like I want to tear up, no matter how many times I see the same play! Wow.
There's been a lot of players to come through Detroit that have been a blast to watch play, but none of them for me has made more of an impression than Datsyuk. He was an absolute joy to watch, always making every play he was on the ice for exciting. He left such an unfillable hole when he left the NHL. So much fun to watch!
Well if this video is not a proof that Datsyuk is one of the best of all time, I don't know what is. I was smiling through the whole video and watching in awe as Pav did his magic. Future Hall of Famer and hopefully Wings retires his number
Just finished watching the whole vid, simply fantastic Awood... Us fans that bleed red, we love your channel. I've watched just about every video you have, some multiple times over. A database of history. There will never be another Pavel Datsyuk, simply one of the best two-way players ever. His defense was exciting to watch let alone offense. Probably the best neutral zone player I have ever seen, and the best at turning defense into offense. And it was great to see some of the plays that did NOT result in goals. These are the lost shifts where we still see magic, buried beneath the highlights. Keep up the awesome work
The video I'd like to see is interviews with the guys who played with Datsyuk. Play after play he seems to serve up perfect passes. Hull, Zetterburg, Holmstrom, and may more can credit Datsyuk for a number of their goals.
Hes my favourite player bar none. The fact that someone (awood40) has taken the time to compile this is truly special. Thanks man, this will be going into my favourites!
It's was an absolute privilege to watch datsyuk play over the last 15 years. Definitely took it for granted, I'm going to greatly miss the magic man. And as always, awood puts out quality videos! Thanks awood!!
Sometimes I forget why I’m a diehard wings fan, but then I see this video and replay my childhood of watching this guy play every night, and I know why I’ll never root for another team
The quality will be a little more consistent in Parts 2 and 3. It's all over the place in this one due to limited footage from these years and HD internet video not existing yet. Don't have a timeframe yet for when the next 2 will be finished, but if I had to guess, I'd say sometime in July and August.
Thank you so much for producing all the videos you do. By far the best redwings highlight footage on RUclips. I don't think any other NHL club has a fan that does this let alone as well as you do
You do such an amazing job with these videos man! You are the best! I can't tell you enough how much I love them and as a wings fan, how happy these videos make me and probably everyone else who watches them! Keep up the amazing work and thank you
imo the only other players in history that can/could compete with Datsyuks all around game is Forsberg, Jagr, and Lemieux. Easily one of the greatest of all time.
the players listed by you did not own what Datsyuk owned, i.e. excellent skating, the ability to cling to the puck and make a goal and not close the pass !
Hey man, watched part 2. Just started on this one. Thanks for these highlights! It makes me miss Lidstrom, Holmstrom, and Hull. Those were the days! #letsgoredwings
Thanks so very much for the Magic Man highlights! Sure brings back some exciting memories! Thanks also for the current highlights also! I'll have to see if I can find the part 2 of this!
There are links in the description for the other parts. I've actually acquired a lot more footage since then. I'm planning on doing a video of every regular season goal from his career.
Datsyuk stardom was making other players shine. So much, it's hard to find other players video's speaking highly of his play. Unless it's Red Wing related.
At 13:08, 13:59, and 36:59, you can tell that there are a large number of Red Wings fans (possibly the majority) at the United Center. That just goes to show that most of today's Blackhawks "fans" are bandwagoners, which is why I have no respect for Chicago and their idiotic fans. At 14:53, Datsyuk assisted on Yzerman's 692nd and final NHL goal. We all know about the chemistry Datsyuk had with Zetterberg as the Euro Twins, but highlights from 2008-09 showed the chemistry Datsyuk also had with Hossa, which was definitely just as impressive. Just imagine if Hossa remained in Hockeytown for more than one season. One can wonder. The best moment of this entire video is definitely at 50:15; the Magic Man shows off his soccer skills. And thank you so much +awood40 for making these amazing videos, you have no idea how much it means to big Red Wings fans like me and others! LET'S GO RED WINGS!
His stats would’ve been even more impressive if he didn’t play behind Yzerman, Larionov, Federov, etc earlier in his career. Not much ice time. Also, his last few seasons the wings were on a sharp decline. Not to mention his attention to the defensive side of the game.
And yet, he never had the big head of say, Alex Ovechcan. No, he never scored 50+:goals in a season. But he made A LOT OF STARS, by his simplicity of skating.
57 minutes and 40 seconds later I am no closer to understanding how the mind of Pavel Datysuk works.
I still to this day, have yet to see anyone do the things he was able to do. Definitely my favorite player of all time.
Best NHL Player I've Seen in my Life! Way Better than Gretzky! I still say it's true today! I just had a recent birthday in my upper 50's and Datsyuk is the the best!
As a Wings fan, I am awesomely blessed to have watched Datsyuk. He did things that no hockey school could teach

Frederick Hubacker I wholeheartedly agree.
I would say top 1.
@@fredoh7553 best puck handler of all time ... 100% and it’s not even close... if only there was a stat for % of dangles completed lol
Undoubtedly.

A puck artist.
I have never seen any highlights with so many "unbelievable" and "oh my goodness" ) Pasha was true magicman.

Thanks for everything, Magic Man.
He's my favorite redwing ever and I grew up watching him play my whole life and I think I'm gonna cry.
The best Detroit Player ever!
And NHL too!
He assisted Brett Hull's 700th goal and Yzerman's final NHL goal (692).

Downloaded, saved, cherished. Man, this is the tribute of all tributes. Amazing.
He's = HIP = highly intellectual player, composer of the hockey game, one of the best creatures of the Mother Nature.
As a red wing fan, and datsyuk fan, I truly appreciate your hard work and dedication mate!
Steve Yzerman is my all time favourite and Gordie is the Goat, but Pavel is the best I’ve ever seen

i love how you group your highlights, like a string of nice goals, 5 cross-ice assists, 3 wraparounds, etc. it has a very good rhythm
Sometimes I forget why I’m a diehard wings fan, but then I see this video and replay my childhood of watching this guy play every night, and I know why I’ll never root for another team
i had tears in my eyes at the end of game 5 because it was datsyuk's last game
i had tears in my eyes cos i knew we were done.
Man, I was going to drive to Detroit specifically to see him play live this last season :(
The major WOW-factor producer!
I love these videos !!!!! We need more long highlight videos
Datsyuk and Hossa was such a short but sweet relationship :,)
What a beaut! Awesome vid, thanks for the work, bud!
These dangles, that wrist shot, those jockstraps. #hockeyporn
Thanks for all the great highlights over the years, Awood. Bye, Pavs. :(
Best backhander, best IQ, best puck robber and artist

Holy cow. Could you imagine playing again a line of hull datsyuk federov Lindstrom and who cares about who else. Omg
How the hell did he see Big Bert at 25:11!?I hate when people compare Datsyuk to God. I mean, he is good and all, but he's no Pavel Datsyuk.
What a great post! I laughed out loud!

It's like Datsyuk was playing amongst very good AHL players while in Detroit.
