Why Does France Produce So Much Talent?! | Explained

- Hello and welcome back to EFD Explains where today we are analyzing why France produces so much talent.
They swept to their 2nd World Cup triumph in 2018 with a squad containing the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann, whilst their U21 side could rival most nations on earth. What role did post WW2 immigration, Paris suburbs and the development of youth facilities such as Clairefontaine have on creating the world’s Premier football nation?
With Ligue 1 increasingly competitive not only domestically but in Europe, and PSG leading a domestic revolution that has seen major stars such as Angel Di Maria and Neymar arrive there and Kylian Mbappe continue his development in the country, we ask how did Ligue 1 turn it around?

I'd like to say that the only reason france is any good is that most of their players are of african origin
@@Natey_B Regardless of people immigrating into France, the country still ranks well above any other nation in terms of players born in France on World Cup sides. These players grew up and developed in French academies and on French football pitches.
@@Ren_1090 right u are
The major reason is that they have lots of free fields to play football growing up and the game is all inclusive unlike some other countries 🇬🇧
Hi ! That’s very true I don’t know for your country but even in school boys always played football in recess. We have long breaks in school and they played every single time
What do you mean by 'all inclusive'?
Deschamps is holding this team back and they’re World Cup champions, imagine
They can put on the 3rd squad an still win the Euros
Maybe be competitive they wouldnt win.
that’s a stretch they could definitely not win with there 3rd squad
They wouldn't win, but they'd likely make it past the Group Stage, they'd beat teams like Finland, Ukraine, a few others, and maybe even compete with Italy, but they'd eventually be stopped by Portugal, Germany, Spain.
Bit of a stretch but yeah it shows the depth of their squad
This an exaggeration. Even a second team wouldn't come close to winning, maybe might reach the quarters but that's as far as they would reach.
The fact laporte doesn't have any caps just tells u all u need to know
do you think he should play for Spain instead ?

Seeing a whole lot of ignorant comments man. Yes a lot of these players are descendants of Africa. However at the same time they were all born and nurtured in France. Therefore this a valid question. The answer is France when it comes to football is inclusive, especially Paris, you don’t have to pay for pitches. You play all day, you can play anywhere and teams are not afraid to go into poor areas to find the talent.
You are right, but half of the players were actually born in an African country. Those countries have the same football culture as European countries, just unfortunately less budget. I wouldn’t give France all the credit because some players could’ve just chosen another country to play for. So it’s not like all of these good players became good only because they played in France. An example is Aubameyang. He could have chosen Spain or France, but decided to play for his family’s country.
But half of them are actually born in Africa
As if half of England's players are not of African heritage
Germany england netherlands belgium and portugal all have black players too. Even spain italy sweden and denmark have some now.
@@heyah1447 yes
The same reason why Brazil has a lot of talented footballers. Football is the only way out of poverty for these kids. Combine it with good infrastructure, et voila - you have a talent nursery.
Didn't know France had slums like Brazil does. Good to know.
Poor areas are in every country including England.
@@lumesu5221 poverty In England cannot be compared to south America or africa mate

Great job. Well done!
Those that say its because of immigration clearly didn't pay attention to the video or any other national team. The vast majority of national teams have immigrant players or players who's family originated from other countries.

This is so good
A lot of colonization things in the comments but everyone's forgeting that the brits had the biggest empire on earth but only won one international title.
Guys it’s all about french structures, that’s all!
I wouldnt say that though considering the majority of immigrants that came to the UK, came from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Jamaica whereas the immigrants who went to France came from North and West Africa, the immigrants who went to UK dont come from football playing countries, whereas the ones who came from France do come from it.
However, if you look at the younger youth players from England now, you'll see the huge rise in players whos parents come from countries in Africa, as they come from more recent immigration in 90s and 00s
But its also because of the French system is also very good, as children are always near football pitches and France doesnt discriminate as much as other countries on who gets trained and selected based on them being ethnically French.
@@lightcase377 France invested in their football academy.
The biggest difference I’d say is that in our banlieues there is always a pitch around that is practicable and free, municipalities as well organise for free every week schedule to get inside pitches for FREE (I repeat it as it’s very important). The culture like in Netherlands is very technical we like tricks and pass our opponents with style. We have FFF (Federation Française de Football) that organize and schedule all the youth and adult amateurs leagues with license for amateurs clubs in every cities of France (government regulated) not a mummy organised league, which I found crazy in this country (England) of football. What is the 3 lions doing with the money they don’t invest in the children’s clubs league 😮 ? Insane !! Claire fontaine is the reservoir for young talents to develop and become the Thierry Henry’s or Mbappé.
@@StephonJoseph even if there's no pitch to play on, french kids in the banlieue may just play in the street, on an empty parking or in a park. Even when i was a kid in france we used to play in the schools during breaks with no football pitch available, we just used beens to make the goals and that's it

Laporte is no different. He is French. One of his grand parents is spanish (pais vasco/pays basque) and that's all he needed. He just wasn't chosen by Deschamps after all these years and thus chose to play for a more generous team => Spain. Why French club don't win UEFA champions league? It's bizarre
Most of Frances team isn’t even actually French
Just genetics tho, their football talent is trained in France and they grew up in France
if you are born in france you are french period. all the player in france team are born in france
@@prince_230_2 wait what? I am Indian but I was born in England doesn't mean I am English!
@@Manpro107 by the law yea
@@prince_230_2 No, I have an Indian Passport. I think Its my choice to choose England or India. My cousin is born in Germany but hasn't been there more than 1 year and doesn't know a single german word, he has spent more time in USA and India...
Most of their players aren’t French!
The vast majority of their players were born in France, and all of them grew up in France, developed their footballing skills in French academies and on French football pitches. How are these players, who’ve spent most if not all of their lives in France, not French, or at least not a result of France’s push for youth development?

Simple answer Africans
France doesn't produce, they take refugees and from those they get good players 😅😅😅😅
LA countries especially Brasil, Argentina etc have natural talent!!!!
Not jus France, but all EU countries have the same story, but Franc does it th best!!!!!
Argentina is a country made of European settlers and Brazil is a nation made of everyone and you got the cheeks to say our team is not French. The players were born in France they are French. Based on your racist approach Argentina and Brazil should only be composed of native Americans
@@gchelem Argentina is not, Argentina was... That's a centuries old story. Same goes for Brazil too...
But European teams have African origin people in their teams especially France.
That is the truth. When someone tell you the truth, you always have a name for them... racist. I don't care. You national Football team is made from African pool....
The World knows how did you win 98 WC...
