Some references/foreshadowing that society outside the walls was advanced: -Whenever they show a flashback of Armin showing Eren and Mikasa his book that talks about the sea, one of the illustrations in the book depicts a barrel of oil. This implies the book was created during an industrial era -Ymir finding the can of herring. Not only does the existence of canned food imply an industrialized society, but herring itself is a salt water fish, found only in the sea. Also can you imagine the amount of bricks Reiner was sh*ting for him to suddenly realize Ymir could read that language while he was in the middle of his Soldier persona Imao -In Ymir's flashback, the weapons the police use are more advanced than the guns in the walls (and that was 60 years ago) -The Warriors drinking coffee -Zeke using baseball terms -This one is more of a translation error, but when Ymir questions Reiner and Berutoto about the Beast Titan, she refers to it as a monkey. Eren's internal monologue in the anime made it sound like he didn't know what they were talking about, which was partly true. What he really meant was that he had no idea what the word "monkey" was. -Also the reason Grisha was able to cure everyone of the plague was because of his more advanced medical knowledge. It was all always before our eyes...
@@AstroAngelssjust a random thought I'll put into a comment. But I'm hungry right now.... Imagine being me, broke, poor, raising 8 children (y'all would call kittens), yt channel, college, living near a volcano that's smoking ash nearby. Man... The prologue is hard.
The basement is one of the very few things teased in any show, anime or not, that the payoff actually feels worthy of the build up. Isayama is a master storyteller and AoT is going to go down as one of the best of all time
Let's goooooo , I'll never get tired of watching people's reaction to those episodes they're absolutely amazing, I love how we all had the Same reaction, aot is truly incredible
for some reason, the post-credits scene in this episode gave me the biggest chills in the entire show -- like the moment you realise how this show hits so close to the real world is mindblowing. (good luck for the last few eps of the season guys!! i feel like these eps will be the most entertaining especially with your theorisations and stuff -- and ronnie good luck moderating the discussion hahahaha)
Hi, I'm Brazilian and I'm following your reaction to AOT This anime was really something very memorable for me, I've never seen anything like it. I'm loving how you guys treat the show, the discussions, etc. Watching various channels I see how much AOT changes people's perspectives, if we caught you in the first episode and now I don't think any of you would have expected that you would be so moved Note: someone tell them that Attack on Titan will actually start in the fourth season
22:17 man, im so proud of biraj(?) for remembering Eren's line about not letting others' sacrifices go to vain if u noticed Erwin actually uses the same idea in his final speech
Y’all don’t know how happy I am to see that you guys have finally made it to this revolutionary moment. We’re starting a whole new journey from here on out😈
I've said this before but can't mention it enough how I'm in love with this channel. I love how effortlessly you guys love and respect the show, how you've been able to see/smell the truth from miles away even though not all your theories have been on the mark but you always see the bigger picture. Love your honesty and sensitivity for the show. ❤❤
Subsequent rewatches of this show are so amazing. Almost every single answer is just blatantly sitting in front of your face from the start but there was no possible way to actually realize it on the first watch.
Common knownledge in Europe. I recognized those within a millisecond, because we were taught about WW2 already in elementary school. But just because it is common knownledge over here, does not mean it's the same for the rest of the world
@@RandomNorwegianGuy. Yeah I'm European too (Russia) and they taught that very early in school. My Indian friend however said that they never taught him about world wars and only about his country. Kind of corrupted education system not gonna lie...
Southeast Asian here, I didn't know about armbands either when I watched the episode for the first time. But we did learn about World War's. Although not so in-depth unlike wars the happened locally, the books focuses more on why our country was affected as well as the aftermath (at least from what I remember) etc.
@AstroAngelss we were taught about the European history and ww2 just not much in detail most stuff was about how it affected our country also it's not Same everywhere in india like my friend(northeast indian) said they were also taught about chinese and Japanese history in detail also I wouldn't call the education system corrupted just cause they didn't teach certain stuff about other country's history and I remember most kids in my class hated it like we already had shyt tone of stuff to learn of our own anyway
@@minholic2390 I know education is different everywhere :D it's just that specifically my friend's education system is corrupted because he's unaware of the important events about the rest of the world's history like the two big wars, bombings and all. He was only mostly taught of his own history like the British ruling
After you guys finish the show, you should do a video looking back at the best moments in the series in DUB. Thatd be pretty rad, you can put it in your full series review video.
This discussion about remembering made me realize there's a plot hole: How did Grisha know he was a titan? (they're already in season 4 so this isn't spoilers) The Owl gave Grisha his Attack Titan only shortly after telling/showing him. I say "shortly" because we see The Owl about to inject Grisha. Grisha should not have been able to remember this nor The Owl saying he'll give him his titan. This has been established multiple times (Ymir, Bert telling Ymir, Eren, Armin). So how did Grisha remember he was a titan? He shouldn't have been able to, and that's a plot hole.
It's more implied that there's memory scrambling, but not necessarily forgetting "everything". Ymir remembered too, after all. Both of them may have remembered being captured by Marley, and were able to piece together that something was amiss. Since both are fully aware of Titan shifters, they may figured it out. Again, not explicitly explained, but it's implied.
Actually, in japanese Zeke said in a way that implies Grisha is also his father. He said "oyaji" and "chichi-ue" when talk to Eren. 🤓 I don't know japanese, someone who studies the language said it to me.
"That means he didn't forget!"
