How did I miss this one, love an undergravel filter! Got one running on a fish bowl that I made from an old pond planter 😂

Hi nice simple do able scape , hope you won't take offence but you really whizz through your vids ,I would happily still watch this if it was twice as long and a bit less frantic.

No thats cool, no offence taken. I’m still working on video pacing.. i do try to aim for 8-12 minutes, but watching the video back, it was a bit frantic.. will work on it in the next one! Thanks for watching, and appreciate the feedback! 👍

Hi mate, I got it from World of Water, it came a kit with a little filter and a light. I didn’t like the filter or the light that came with it though, so swopped them out. I also made the wooden hood as it came with a plastic one, which was fine but just wanted to switch it up a bit! Thanks for watching! 😊

@@GingerFishyOfficial oh, yes, we’ve done many videos on them been using them for 45 years myself and of course introduced Jack to them when he was born we make a lot of them custom for many of our designs as well. They’re very easy to customize.

I love your attention to detail. The black background on the tank. The homemade wooden lid. 👌.
When I get my indoor tank going I will try out an UGF.
Have you found this type of filter to be good ?
    😊

    • @GingerFishyOfficial
      @GingerFishyOfficial  5 месяцев назад

Thank you! You can’t go wrong with a black background! Keeps things looking tidy.
I’m not too sure I would use an UGF again to be honest, it worked well but I think in the future I will just use a sponge filter for small tanks like this. I found it difficult to grow plants, as when using an under gravel filter, I don’t think you can use root tabs.
It was fun trying an UGF though as it reminded me of my very first fish tank, that had one.
What fish are you planning on for your indoor tank? 😊

I have a red cap Oranda and a tiger Oranda . At the moment they are outside. But they really don't like the cold. So I will bring them inside after the summer this year. 😊

nice little tank, friend! I think that's Java moss not s-tang and I believe you need a stem of Pothos rather than a leaf. I could be wrong on both counts :) Either way, good luck!

Thanks man, yeah I’m going through a bit of an under gravel filter phase at the moment.. I like the idea of water flowing through the substrate, keeping things moving 😎👊

@@GingerFishyOfficial I don't know anything about it, but I imagine the gravel acts as a bio media. Sounds like a good idea to me

That’s awesome, I defo plan to start using more under-gravel filters in my setups, they’re simple, work well, cheap to buy and cheap to run! 😀

You're Really good at this! SO thorough. Love that you used the UG Filter, they get a bad rap. That NL Java Fern is Beautiful! My absolute FAVE! Thanks for brightening a dreary, grey, cold day. Happy New Year to you my friend from across the pond!!!

Thank you, Finn Wiggles! Yeah, I was excited to use the under gravel filter.. I think the last time I used one was on a little goldfish tank when I was about 8.. I’m glad your day has been brightened, and Happy New Year to you too!!! 😊

Thanks mate, yeah give one a go! My first ever tank, many years ago has one.. I think there’s a few pros and cons, but for a little 10 gallon it’s takes up hardly any space! Thanks again mate!! 😊
