Also you're giving up the defensive range, so even if the mulit-archers are 'triple' damage they lost 'half' the coverage. So in actuality they're doing 1.5x the damage in terms of range. Same applies to the Cannon. and yeah like you said more freeze value,

The merged archer tower reminds me of the old days of clash, where in the early townhall levels, upgrading an archer tower would also increase the number of archers, I always wondered why they didn't all fire at once... now they do!
I believe they had no choice but add this to introduce new building for already filled base. They had two options either to merge buildings or to expand the base as this will not be their last town hall. I personally think merging building was a smart move to not complicate things any further.
It will be interesting to see how bases evolve with merged defenses, because this is technically less ground covered by defenses, but it’s a needed change for base space
I love how this was always hinted at by the Clash of Clans developer team with the Halloween Mixup event, like they were testing the waters with this concept ages ago, goes to show how much fore-planning went into this update.
My biggest worry with the merged defenses is the reduced total area you defenses can cover after all 2 Archer towers can cover double the area which means that troops will be under fire for longer when moving through the base, which could make an unfused base better with a good layout. Simply the fuse feels like a trap.
I thought about this too. But if you do enough damage in one part of the base there is no reason to spread out the damage. Plus, it will make bases slightly smaller.
I thought about this too but I think the improvements are more worth it. Plus I’m assuming 21 will now just be the permanent max level and combined will be the only way forward in the future.
If you think about it tho there will be new Tonhalls and new content so they somehow had to give possibilities to make space for new things, merging is a cool way to go about it

I think I had a similar idea back when I was imagining update ideas for Clash of Clans, except I named them "extension defenses" which are like special defensive mechanics you can add on top of defenses. I'm glad the game is adding something of this sort! This sounds like an absolutely sick feature! Not only does this conserve building count and space but it's a very creative concept
It would be cooler if merged defense buildings covered a larger area. I don't think it would be more effective to have fewer defense buildings than more.
Fusing the defensive buildings might mean that you get more power in one area or your base, but it means losing that extra coverage and possibly lowering your overall base %. I think it should be optional to switch back and forth between merged and not merged.
I think the issue with merging them back and fourth is keeping track of what level your un-merged items are, compared to the merged versions - since the merged versions are levelled separately and everything
But then, you have to keep into account that there will be a new rising issue: time. By merging them together, you essentially can upgrade both of them with one builder and the time cost nearly the same with one of the separate defenses. Thus, I can see very well a lot of people would use this time advantage if separating merged defenses is a thing.
I was waiting for this video. This feature is really cool, strengthening the defenses and reducing space in the base. This was hinted in the Hammer Jam video so might as well analyse it even more now.
Love the idea! My only complaint is having every defense becoming some ultra strong threat you have to focus down. When eagle released, it was an extreme threat and considered the ultimate defense, infernos are very dangerous from th10, xboxs arent as bad butbare still very strong, townhall weapon is a death sentence if you dont use a blimp or commit to part of your army just destroying it. Scatters are extremely dangerous, monolith is the new king of defenses, spell towers can completely shut you down, and now some of our basic nonthreatening but still important and simple defenses are becoming massive targets to focus on. Its starting to feel like too much.
The thing is, with every new threat, there is a counterpart troop too. You literally mentioned them. Blimps for countering TH, things like that. Supercell does have playtesters, you know….
I expected them to do this to gold mines and such. Reducing the amount of buildings and space. Never expected the murging of defenses but still like it.

It started on th9 all the way untill th11 after that they went with a minimalist art style which it was ugly (th12&th14). Glad they brought back the details in th16
Another disadvantage is if the buildings are not merged, you can spread the buildings apart and cover more area. You can't do that if you merge the buildings. I know it makes up for it with the increased damage but i think its worth noting.
@@petersmulders8058 yes, merging is overall better. I am just pointing out one disadvantage and besides, I dont think merging is optional as these are the new buildings for th16, we are most likely will not be allowed to go to th17 without merging.
And one more thing got unnoticed that if a player decided not to merge the canons and arch towers, he/she will have 4 extra buildings in his/her base. That means opponent have to deal with more buildings, in spite of facing defences with higher dp.

i swear, there was the time when upgrading archer towers increases the number or archers in the tower, then it got removed a while back, just for merged archer to make sense visually, having multiple archers that shoots different arrows
Interesting I think this is definitely the correct move from Supercell to protect the longevity of the game! TH15 just proved too difficult for the majority of clash players due to the base becoming far too complex! Reducing total defences by merging for 1 more powerful defence makes the base less complex while still making the base stronger overall
I think merging defences is a great idea, but i have a feeling the merged ones will get nerfed pretty fast after the update since they look way too op.
They are powerful, but I don’t think they are op. Don’t forget, most town halls have a new powerful defence which comes with no downsides at all, whereas for these you have to sacrifice existing defences. And TH16 of course has new troop levels to match the increase in defensive power.
@@Naretek here's the thing tho. You might lose 2 buildings, but specially in the case of the canon you are getting 4 times the output. While only some of the troops get only 1 level. Like a canon doing more damage than an X-bow on 2 targets at the same time is crazy. Imo they will reduce the damage from the second hit a while after the update is released.

I just feel like the overall net increase in defensive power is comparable to other town hall levels where you gain defences such as scatterhots and eagle artillery without scarificing other defences

I really hoped that the mechanics of that Merge Archer tower is applied to Town hall, when one troop target the TH it will recieve 4x damage from 4 targets at once.
They are slowly removing older buildings and opening opportunities to have higher level Town halls, soon we will have one gold mine one elixir drill and THs will be lvl 20😂

This game was one the most famous mobile games back in the old days and still trending up to this day. Developers are doing a perfect job at making this game maintain its great gameplay

There is a new building in this update, its called "BlackSmith". Its used to unlock "new" abilities of heroes. NEW abilities! Its cost is 750K with 1 day build time. Galadon Gaming accidentally revealed this while scrolling the "Buildings and Traps" tab at 0:44.
It turned out so much better than I thought it would turn out. Cannon is gonna be able to get around pushes with one tank and some squishies behind it. Yet it doesn’t seem overpowered.

The 3 archers on the tower actually taking turns in firing, thus the tower's dps is higher than that of a single archer.

Zap proof AD would be so good. 99.9% of my defenses are edrag zap’s. Making air attacking harder is a need for the game

There is a new building in this update, its called "BlackSmith". Its used to unlock "new" abilities of heroes. NEW abilities! Its cost is 750K with 1 day build time. Galadon Gaming accidentally revealed this while scrolling the "Buildings and Traps" tab at 0:44.

I think the merge is a great long-term solution to bases becoming more and more cramped as new buildings keep being added
It turned out so much better than I thought it would turn out.
Cannon is gonna be able to get around pushes with one tank and some squishies behind it. Yet it doesn’t seem overpowered.
The last teaser ‘blue fox’ could be another new pet. Cute
