I just wanna say i'm really appreciative of your work in LoR and i really never took it for granted; being someone that heavily appreciates thorough analytics i feel like almost all competitive games could use someone that does the role you do in Runeterra - and very few have this role being filled. Your style of analysis would be a great contribution to any game you decided to focus on, and i'm personally glad that it has been Runeterra because it shed a new dimension to the game and its competitive aspect. I really enjoy your content and i selfishly hope you never stop making it, no matter if it's about Runeterra or any other game or area of life. That being said i can tell you're very passionate about this game and i offer my condolences for the terrible news. I hope the future that awaits you is one where you can look back and feel your efforts were rewarded.

Very unfortunate, and yet, sadly, I'm not too surprised to hear it after seeing the direction of the game these past few years. Such a shame, as I agree with others: it's the best card game I've ever played. Really appreciate your role in the pvp community, Boulevard--you've done a ton--and totally understandable that you'll likely need to switch focus to something more sustainable for yourself. I'm developing a card game that takes some inspiration from LoR, and I hope to one day have people as invested as you in that community.
Im shocked riot hasn't noticed the 1 big thing LoR is actually missing: MARKETTING This game has received NO attention from a marketing standpoint. No marketing campaign, No incentives in there other games to try it, nothing. It just popped out one day, and thats that. No shit you're no gaining players. The F2P market relies fully on new players joining, so marketing is imperative. As someone who really doesn't enjoy PoC that much, I'm super bummed by this direction.
Back when Starcraft 2 was put on lifesupport by the devs the community stepped up to organise their own tournaments. Maybe the same could be done for runeterra. You could copy the existing system on a smaller scale and hold your own weekly gauntlets and cast them on twitch & youtube. these would qualify for larger tournaments with actual pricepools, which you could source from twitch donations.
not surprised by this in the slightest. To me the sheer obnoxious power level of Ed and Mord were a clear signal that the designers were taking the piss one last time. They knew that either the games days were numbered or theirs were. And oh look the games warped they don't care onwards we go and a few weeks later then this. The writing was always on the wall.

Even if you can argue that they have money (which im in no position to object or confirm cuz im not a rioter) all i can say is that lor is too good for the industry from a monetization standpoint. It gives full freedom for a f2p in a card game. People who dont play competitive literally have zero reason to spend money on the game and even the competitive guys by playing that much they will need to spend much less compared to other titles. Its perfect for the gamers but bad ofr the company in this gaming industry we have right now EVEN if they could share the money from the other 5 games to lor
I disagree with your reasons. I only play PVE because I love peace of mind. I am not into the competitive scene any more. But I do support LOR via buying event passes whenever they come just to support the game I love.

In what media of card games history, did beating an ai surpass beating a real opponent lol Your take never even happened once in card based cartoons/anime No one would be watching yugioh if yugi just sat in practice mode If 50% of lol/any multiplayer game players decided to be fullpve riot goes under completely lol

Rotation added life to the game. Imagine if we would have a Eternal meta, even less people would play. Most people play PvE anyways so blaming it on PvP's decisions isn't really helpful.
