I always come back to this one. I'd love another maybe where you make Pamela Jean's prom dress! The crinkle sound of the pattern is unmatched, I could listen to that for hours and still get tingles!
I remember my Mother using paper pattern's to make my dresses . It's more exciting watching your clothes being made , than buying them off the rail . Happy memories 😊
Joan, my mother made soooo many clothes for me and my brother. We loved everything she made for us. I still have a little jeans jacket she made when I was probably 7 or 8. She embroidered little forest animals all over it. I absolutely thought I was the coolest kid in school. 😂😂 The little jacket is featured in the following video if you’d like to see it. ASMR * Ironing Denim * Steam Sounds * Vintage Fabric Handling * 1950s 1960s (No Talking) ruclips.net/video/jw_fx8s2Ypg/видео.html
I just found this channel by accident. The first time I experienced asmr was with my grandma at Joann fabrics. I loved going in and watching them unroll the fabric, measuring it and using the metal scissors to cut it. And then going home and watching my grandma put together and outfit. The paper pattern sounds are one of my favorite sounds in the world. My grandma passed away three years ago and she was my home. I miss her so much but this video brought back a lot of happy memories and I am so glad I stumbled upon this video. I can’t help but laugh because I would get so aggravated standing there while she would do my measurements and she would get mad that I was getting mad 😂 thank you so much for this video!
This brings back memories! My mom used to make a lot of clothes. I loved watching her, and listening to the pattern crinkles. I loved going to the fabric store with her. Listening to the pattern books being flipped through, and the searching for the pattern. I still get relaxed going into a fabric store.
I remember falling asleep at night to the sound of my mother sewing my clothes and Halloween costumes. I loved going to Joannes and looking through their books and finding the patterns in their cabinets and then following mom through the store picking out fabrics and notions. This is wonderfully nostalgic.
I think you and my mom are close in age. I asked her if grandma ever told her she was gonna jerk a knot in her tail because I’d never heard it before but liked the sound of it. She said no, but that grandma’s threat was that she was “gonna knock them pizzle end up” lol.
This takes me right back to my earth childhood in Yorkshire, England. My mum and our old neighbour Mrs Bamforth would measure me for dresses. The crinkle of the pattern and the gentle touch of the tape measure along my back and shoulders was so relaxing. The thought of it still puts me to sleep and I'm almost 50. Thank you so much ❤
love the crinkly sounds of the pattern! and I always feel like I learn something from your videos, it just shows how much research you put into them :)
Oh how I adore your style!! The vintage lint roller is deliciously tingly✨! Thank you for the love and care that goes into these productions ❣️ Had to get a comment in before sleep this time, 🤗
13:30 🔥🔥🔥 Such a good one. We always talk about the details but my favorite touch here was the little notebook that you wrote the measurements into around 6 minutes in. It looked and sounded like the kind of notebook she had been using for a long time. The details means so much. Thanks Sherri.
Yes Maria’s prom dress fitting video is one of my favorites… love your videos Sherri brings me back to childhood in the 60’s and the Avon videos ahhh heavenly…
This past week I have been suffering with some sort of something. Tested negative for Covid, but still really sick. Your videos have brought me so much comfort. Vicks on the chest, tea, and cinnamon toast, and your voice as I drifted off to sleep. Was like getting a hug from my mom. Which is kinda weird, because you and I are probably close to the same age! But just the same, your videos bring back so many lovely memories. Thanks you for all your hard work.

This is great and so comfortingly realistic with the slightly irritable mother and antsy daughter. Pamela should be more grateful for her mother’s ASMR-inducing talents! 😂
She SHOULD be more grateful!! 😂😂😂 Well, she was certainly like I was as a teenager-never convinced mom needed to take my measurements. . . AGAIN. 😂 But boy do I have the most wonderful memories of my mom sewing for me. 🌺🌺
"Do you want this dress or not?" Oh the amount of times I've heard that. 😅 My mom taught me how to sew and she was taught by HER mother in the 70s. It feels like I'm right there with them. It's nice as my Grandma's passed and when I'm sewing is the only time I feel close to her.
😂😂 Same here. My mom and mamaw both worked in the local dress factory in late 50s/early 60s. My mamaw went on to make custom drapes for Sears. My mom made all our clothes as kids, made my wedding dress, taught me how to sew on a treadle Singer sewing machine first, then the electric. Sewing was a big part of my life.
I absolutely love this! Reminds me of when my Nanny in WV used to make some lovely homemade outfits! Always enjoyed hearing the crinkles of her patterns. ❤❤❤
Just had to alter a formal (prom) dress for my daughter with my Mums help. The fussing was real! Mum and I were taken aback because we both had happy memories of our mother sewing us dresses or making alterations. Thanks for your lovely video and inspo from the wonderful Maria.
Can you make a fitting series like this one? Oh and please please use the magical lint roller from this video. The non-sticky (with the tiniest click sounds when you press down) makes my brain so happy. You deserve so many more followers. ❤
Hi Sherri! As one of four girls on a limited family budget, if we wanted a new dress for Easter or 8th grade day we had to make it ourselves...and we did! My oldest sister made my wedding dress and a few of the bridesmaids dresses as well and I hand beaded the lace top. She also made me some maternity clothes. I think knowing how to sew, hem and alter clothes is a lost art. Thank you for the warm memories! ❤
I'm so glad my video brought back those memories! 💕 My mom and my mamaw were both expert seamstresses (both worked at the local dress factory in the early 60s). I have a very old video featuring the wedding dress my mom made for me. 🌺🌺 ASMR * Lint Rolling Vintage Wedding Dress * Fabric Handling * Chiffon, Raw Silk, Beads (No Talking) ruclips.net/video/13K_8wTpitE/видео.html
This video is so comfortable and soothing. It really feels like my mom is making me stand up in the kitchen while she measures me, and it somehow nails that exact feeling of boredom/antsiness/secret pleasure at the personal attention
Pamela Jean is absolutely me here. My mom sewed for me and my brother allll the time. And she made us some pretty rad stuff. We ate it up and were impatient all at the same time. 😂😂
Those are some of my favorite videos of Maria’s too and I danced on my tippy toes in excitement when I saw you had posted this. Am deal with a rough breakup right now so this was perfectly timed. Thank you for your amazing asmr. You’re my most favorite song with latte and Maria!
Ahhh, yes. I loved your other two fabric videos so much, I’m so glad you uploaded another one! 😍Thank you for your hard work! Just in time for my two days off… I am going to sleep so well 😴🥱
You manage to nail irritated mom while staying away from passing judgement. When taking the measurements, there's no commentary beyond "see, I did need to do this." It's a subtle thing, but the thoughtfulness it shows to some of us more dysmorphic folk is very appreciated.
Worst part for me is finding a spot to lay out large pieces of fabric. I have a bad back and a bad knee so crawling on the floor is not an option but I love putting on clothing I’ve made myself. It’s so rewarding but definitely not an easy skill to learn imo.
I love that noise of paper. I remember me that my mother make a dress for my. A blue dress. I love that dress. I make dresses to. And my son makes dresses for his dauchter.
There was a time when young ladies were taught about making clothes. And basic cookery. And cleaning. Life skills! Boys were handed baseballs, footballs and hockey pucks and told to go play outdoors.
